The best DSLR camera that we've tested for beginners is the Canon EOS Rebel T8i. It's one of the most well-rounded entry-level DSLRs we've tested. However, you get an APS-C sensor that can capture high-quality images and access to the same lenses, with plenty of affordable EF and EF-S lenses that you can upgrade to as your skills grow.

The camera can also record 4k video, has an excellent autofocus system, and has very good battery life&mdash;everything you need and then some. The Nikon D5600 is also worth considering in this price range, especially if you need something a tad more portable, but it isn't as well-rounded, with no 4k and a less reliable autofocus system. Overall, the T8i is one of the most full-featured beginner DSLRs around, and it's a great option for those looking for something that falls in the sweet spot between budget and higher-end models.

Mirrorless options are a great choice for hybrid or video shooters thanks to their quick autofocus systems, but you can't go wrong with a tried-and-true DSLR camera for photography. The best DSLR under $1,000 is the Canon EOS Rebel T8i. It's Canon's most capable entry-level DSLR, with just about all you need in a starter camera.

6x crop sensor plus a 2x crop for 4k video.  I recorded to a Ninja V (mainly to be able to break the 30 minute mark). Footage looks good for the price on an entry level camera. Not a huge dynamic range, but it looks good, especially after being able to dial things in with the tools on the Ninja V

 The main reason I bought it was because it could do the 4K 24P clean HDMI out. I was going to go with the 90d, but Canon refuses to fix the 24P clean out bug (outputs as 30P even though 24P is selected). My workflow is to blu-ray which means I need 24P. After considering dropping Canon altogether, I decided to stick with the T8i (and hand down my T4i to my daughter and share my lens collection)

Great beginner camera, "meh" upgrade for the hobby photographer.

 A lot of room to grown and learn. One thing I won't discuss because I don't use it, is the video mode. I'm using this primarily as a camera. Video is extra and may be used at some point but that isn't a consideration

 Always fuzzy. This is my issue, not the camera's I’m sure. Or so I thought but upon reading many Canon lens reviews I find a common thread among some is the auto focus either doesn’t work or stops working.  The camera body is surprisingly light although for my smaller women’s hands I find it a little awkward, especially the shutter button

  In the end I ended up returning it due to the lens. It really doesn’t do the work I wanted a camera for and the lenses are so confusing and expensive. The lens should compliment the camera and not drag it down.

You could really even look at a t7, same camera really, big drawback is no flip screen but it’s less than half the price, otherwise just get the t8i or sl3 you will be able to take fantastic photos with any of them, modern camera sensors are so good and that is a decent kit lens, you can add an ef-s 55-250 is stm lens as well if you want a nice telephoto zoom to complete the kit. You will be more than happy with the quality of images you can produce, the only limitation will really be your technique,.

I'm looking into getting my first camera after a few years. One of my ex-girlfriends had a T3i and I enjoyed using it. Learned a little bit about aperture, ISO, etc. I'm currently looking to get back into photography just as a hobby. I would like to have a camera that is capable of taking nice photoshoot/portrait style photos (think outdoor photoshoot) and some landscapes. I am taking a trip out east this summer to visit my dad is COVID protocols permit.

Currently I am deciding between the T8i and the SL3.

Deciding between two cameras, beginner to DSLR.

 The flip screen is definitely a bigggg plus! Also it comes with a lot of easy setting for beginners. I don’t use them often but they do come in handy here and there. I prefer shooting in RAW and in Manual. But even if you are still learning the auto settings are pretty dope! I also love how I can’t transfer photos without removing my SD card! The only reason why this didn’t get 5 stars is because it came with the wrong battery charger! I received a LC-E12 charger instead of an LC-E17

The media could not be loaded. I love about every feature on this camera! Even though it is larger than my first camera (Canon SL1), it’s just as light! I love how the battery compartment and card reader are placed where I can change them out without having to remove my camera from the tripod! That’s a big upgrade for me. The flip screen is definitely a bigggg plus! Also it comes with a lot of easy setting for beginners. I don’t use them often but they do come in handy here and there

Apologies if this is a bit of a simple question, but I thought this subreddit might be more useful than Google. For years I have used an EOS Rebel T3 camera owned by my family, which we acquired in the early 2010s. I used it to take outdoor pictures of my cosplays when I was in high school. Now that I live on my own, my family has kept the camera, and I'm looking to buy a similar model for myself to take more cosplay photos! Really the only functionality I use is the normal shooting mode, without flash, on auto, to take outdoor cosplay pictures. I'm wondering what is the cheapest canon model I can get with this same functionality, and which resembles the EOS Rebel T3 (setup-wise) so it'll be easy for me to use. I don't need the fancy new additions like Wi-Fi or anything like that. I DO want a quality DSLR camera that will take cosplay pictures in high resolution (and that will outlast a new iphone w/ portrait mode by years and years). I really like the way the EOS Rebel T3 photos look, in terms of how sharp and bright they are.

Let me know if you have any suggestions! I am also looking to acquire this camera FAST, because I'm in a different state for the summer and would love to get some new pictures here in my outfits before I move back to the cold northeast in the fall. I DO want a quality DSLR camera that will take cosplay pictures in high resolution (and that will outlast a new iphone w/ portrait mode by years and years). I really like the way the EOS Rebel T3 photos look, in terms of how sharp and bright they are.</p>

<p>Let me know if you have any suggestions! I am also looking to acquire this camera FAST, because I&#39;m in a different state for the summer and would love to get some new pictures here in my outfits before I move back to the cold northeast in the fall. So, ideally something I can have shipped with Amazon Prime or that I can pick up at Walmart, etc. within the next week. (Which limits my opportunities to buy used cameras, I know). I&#39;m hoping to spend less than $500 but open to more.</p>

I’ve decided to upgrade from my old canon 100D but I’m not sure which one to go for.

I’m looking for a camera to play about with to get better at my camera skills but also a good point and shoot for when I let other people use the camera for general purposes.

Upgrade from Canon 100d, T8i (850D) or SL3 (250D)

I do like that it is pretty lightweight and for a female it just means she might use it more because it's easier to carry. Now I do like that on the T8i getting lenses are pretty easy and don't really need many accessories for it. Another concern of mine is night time photography. I'm not sure if it's the lenses that really matters but taking pictures of the night sky and star exposures is something that stands out as well, and in that regards I don't know which is better

 I researched for months on great entry level camera and I am a Canon person. This meets everything I need. Camera is perfect if you want it to do camera and video. I did not need big 4k video so this one worked great

WOW WOW and WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

 The editing software from Canon is also great.  The first pic is with a 24mm prime lens and the second and third pic is a 50mm prime. All were edited in Canon's Digital Photo Professional 4. The fourth is the 18-55 lens that comes with the camera and not edited (It's the first day I went out to use the camera)

If this camera has limitations, I havn't reached them yet

 I was happy with the first few test shots but then I took it on the trip I bought it for and the battery just ran out almost immediately. I thought it was nothing at first and charged it again but it keeps happening. I hate returning things but this is a big problem.

I am not sure what is wrong but the camera loses charge in less than an hour on photography mode. This was not a purchase I made on impulse I took my time and made sure it was worth the expense.  So we're gonna see what we can do here and then we'll continue on up the mountain and hopefully still get some nice light by the time we make it to the top. But beyond needing nice light, a good landscape photo really needs a much more interesting sky, but oh well. I have a limited window to shoot these reviews so I take what I can get. and then we'll head back to the office and check out these images on the computer to see if they look as good as they do on the back of the camera

 and I've read the other reviews I've watched the other videos I Know people love pixel shift, but either way the good news is image quality is already fantastic even without pixel shift. We know this is a really good sensor in this camp, and thus lens is beautiful. It was actually pretty decent for landscapes, but I loved it. For portraits and low-light work, it's really nice, but it's also probably equally nice on an original K1

Hey so I'm out here at the Dog Mountain trailhead in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge on the Oregon Washington border and I've brought with me the Pentax K12 so pretty excited to go shoot this. This is a great landscape camera thanks to its pixel shift high resolution mode, but also I'm really excited to try out this lens. This is the brand-new 50 millimeter F 1 point 4 SDM Aw its pen taxes new high-end normal focal length prime. Really, really excited to get to shoot this

So yeah, the files look great, but pixel shoot I just don't know. Even on a tripod, the gains you get from it aren't always that apparent and they often come with some rather significant drawbacks

 This update right here was pretty lackluster. just like my unboxing I just felt like I was using the same camera. You know, if maybe they gave me a few more frames per second, maybe more autofocus point just remain slightly better image quality or ISO function something ought to handout picture ship something. Maybe I could rave about for you guys, but for now it's not a really good you know update

 I Think someone that translated Japanese to English just got it all twisted in words or something. But we thought that once we buy this camera, we set it to handheld picture shift mode or something and we would take the shot with no tripod and we'll get a great clean image that's slightly sharper. Of course in a regular JPEG or raw image, we will get a better image quality with no tripod. This time we just take the photo and what just happened right? We did not get that guys
