This D5300 is very light! I don't need touch screen so decided on the D5300 to save some money. I also played around with the Fuji X-T1 a bit at the store, and while it is an excellent camera, I find myself liking the Nikon auto-focus system a lot more. Fuji is fast enough, but Nikon's auto focus just feels more instantaneous. Warning: If you buy grey market camera, Nikon USA won't repair the camera for you and you would have to go through a third party repair shop

However, there are some features that are missing, obviously. The most important, to me, is the lack of real, in-camera autofocus. You know what I mean?

That said, its high ISO performance isn't quite as competitive as some mirrorless alternatives. Among the lenses you’re looking at, I’d definitely recommend the Nikon 200-500. I know it’s slightly shorter than a 150-600, but it more than makes up for it with greater sharpness. Even cropped to match the field of view of a 600mm, the 500mm’s images will look sharper than the 150-600.

The 90D with a 300mm lens is perfect for hand held wildlife thanks to the crop factor the 300mm becomes a 480mm which gives me a ton of reach in a kit that cost less than $1800 and isn't a huge 500mm on a full frame where the animals will be gone by the time I get the tripod setup.

Any recommendations for a decent kit lens or a wideangle zoom lens?(currently looking at tamron's 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD.. any cheaper alternatives available for this one

Honestly, I feel like full frame is overvalued, especially for non-professionals who don't need the best of the best to make max profit. That being said, they are rather close, in size as well as in price. I'd usually go with MILC over DSLR, but that's a personal thing and your opinion or feelings might differ, but I assume you don't have a preference, otherwise you'd not be asking the question. If you get FF lenses for better quality, then size doesn't matter, they'll be close

I found it to be reasonably sharp throughout its zoom range, but plagued by some rather extreme distortion throughout. This can be automatically corrected in-camera, even when shooting Raw, by enabling Auto Distortion Control via the menu.

As with anything, I feel like you just have to list out your requirements, figure out your price point, and then see if Equipment X checks all the boxes. 90D is certainly a quality piece of gear, just have to see if it fits everything.

I chose the option of a more affordable 18-55mm AF-P solo lens, its autofocus is fluid and it does not make noise, perfect for taking video. Stable and fast Wi-Fi during photo transfers to a smartphone. Up to now, I have not found any flaws. I am satisfied with the purchase

You also move away from micro adjustments issues too. Battery life is ok, not great, offset by small batteries and much easier charging with USB-C.

I find the battery life to be quite decent- I have gotten a couple of spares and always keep one handy. I did get the 18-140 kit lens based on the reviews. I was fairly satisfied with it for a while but did find I wanted more reach and ended up buying the 50-300 telephoto which I really do love and find I can get much better close-ups and detail than with the kit lens. I mostly like to take pictures outdoors of ducks, squirrels, birds and nature in general
