The best crop-sensor DSLR that we've tested is the Canon EOS 90D. This mid-range enthusiast model features a 32.5-megapixel crop sensor, a weather-sealed body, and a fully articulated screen. It feels very comfortable to shoot with and has a highly intuitive menu system, along with a large optical viewfinder that gives you a lag-free view through the lens.

This camera delivers good image quality with an impressive level of dynamic range to give you more latitude when editing your photos. It also has adequate RAW noise handling at higher ISO settings. Also, while it has fewer detection points than mirrorless alternatives, it still has a very good autofocus system that can track moving subjects fairly consistently. The camera can shoot at a quick 11 fps in its high-speed continuous shooting mode, although it has a fairly small photo buffer.

Unfortunately, it's on the heavier and bulkier side, so it's not the most convenient to take traveling. It also lacks in-body image stabilization, although its kit lens is optically stabilized and does an excellent job of reducing camera shake. All in all, if you're looking for a standout DSLR with an APS-C sensor to take advantage of a wider array of affordable lenses, this is an excellent choice.

The best DSLR camera that we've tested with a crop sensor is the Canon EOS 90D. This camera's 32.5 MP APS-C sensor helps deliver very good JPEG image quality out-of-the-box, with an expansive dynamic range at low ISO and impressive noise handling capability at higher ISO levels. Its autofocus system is also very effective when tracking moving objects. It doesn't have in-body stabilization, but its digital stabilization function does a great job of helping smooth out camera shake when shooting without a tripod. If you feel like shooting video, it can record uncropped 4k video at up to 30 fps or FHD video at a maximum frame rate of 60 fps.

Like most Canon DLSRs, this camera has a very intuitive menu system and control layout, making it easy to use for experienced and novice users alike. Its top plate display allows you to quickly check your chosen exposure settings and remaining battery life. Its body is advertised as being weather-sealed, enabling you to shoot in fairly tricky weather conditions. The touchscreen interface is also fully articulated, which is helpful when trying to compose shots from unconventional angles.

That said, while its LP-E6N battery pack offers sufficient charge for most of a day's use, you can't charge it through its USB port while the camera is in use, unlike some other mirrorless alternatives. While it's smaller and lighter than most other full-frame DSLRs like the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, some users may still find it a little fatiguing to carry around for extended periods, especially when using bulkier or heavier lenses. Still, its comfortable ergonomics and accurate, responsive autofocus system make it a great option if you're looking for a DSLR, and it's also one of the best cameras for wildlife photography that we've tested.

The Canon EOS 90D is the best crop-sensor DSLR that we've tested. Like the Nikon D780 and other DSLRs, it uses an optical viewfinder that gives you a clear, lag-free view through your camera's lens. This APS-C model is compatible with both EF-S and EF lenses, giving you a wide variety of lens options to choose from. It's also very comfortable to shoot with and has a highly intuitive menu system that makes configuring settings a breeze.

The camera has a high-resolution 32.5-megapixel sensor that yields detailed photos with a lot of dynamic range, giving you more flexibility to crop photos in without losing sharpness or detail. It also has a very good autofocus, and although it doesn't cover the very edges of the frame when shooting through the viewfinder, it still does a good job of accurately tracking and keeping moving faces in focus when taking photos or shooting video. The camera also has a fully articulated screen to help you shoot from different angles or record vlogs.

That said, its high ISO performance isn't quite as competitive as some mirrorless alternatives. It's still okay in dim lighting, but you're better off shooting at moderate and lower ISOs to avoid introducing too much digital noise. Still, if you're interested in a DSLR, this is one of the best crop-sensor DSLRs that we've tested.

If you want to save some money, check out the Canon EOS 90D. Unlike the Nikon D780, it uses a crop sensor, so it doesn't perform as well in low light, and it doesn't feel as premium or well-built, but it's considerably cheaper, and like the Nikon, it's advertised to be weather-sealed. The camera feels very comfortable, and its menu system is incredibly easy to navigate. It delivers good overall image quality, though its RAW noise handling capability is just okay at higher ISO levels. On the upside, it has a faster 11 fps high-speed continuous shooting speed. However, its photo buffer is much smaller, and it has a 10s buffer empty time, which will cause interruptions if you manage to fill it up. The camera also lacks in-body image stabilization, but it still does an excellent job of reducing handheld camera shake with its kit lens attached. It has a very good autofocus system that tracks moving subjects decently well.

Get the Nikon if image quality and low-light performance are priorities. However, if you're looking to save some money on a solid camera and leave more room in your budget for lenses, the Canon is a good alternative.

Though mirrorless cameras offer a lot of advantages in areas like autofocus and shooting speed, these features are less important for landscape photography, so a crop-sensor DSLR like the Canon EOS 90D makes for a solid mid-range option for those who can't afford a full-frame model and don't want to give up having an optical viewfinder.

Digital Photography Review

If the Canon EOS 6D Mark II is out of your price range, stepping down to a crop-sensor option will save you a lot of money and still get you great quality and performance. Unless you need the best image quality and lenses, you likely won't notice a huge difference in quality with an APS-C camera like the Canon EOS 90D, except maybe in low light, where it struggles a bit with noise. It's got a high-resolution sensor that can capture stunning images, along with a very good AF system&mdash;it's newer than that of the 6D, so you get both face and eye detection for more precise focusing. Also, it can record 4k video if that's a must-have for you.

Like most Canon DLSRs, it has a super intuitive menu system and control layout, making it easy to use for experienced and novice users alike. It's also well-built, with a weather-sealed body and top display to easily keep an eye on your settings, and of course, battery life is excellent. All in all, you'll get high-end features and performance with this camera, but without the same level of build quality as a pro-grade model and, of course, the usual sacrifices that come with an APS-C sensor.

As far as mid-range options go, the Canon EOS 90D is well worth considering. This DSLR uses an APS-C sensor, meaning low-light capability will be a little more limited than a full-frame option like the Nikon Z 6II. However, it still has a lot to offer for the price, and that sensor has a higher resolution than many of its APS-C counterparts, giving you a bit more leeway to crop your photos. It can shoot at a quick 11 fps max burst rate, though that drops to seven fps when using continuous tracking AF. While its AF system isn't as fast as mirrorless alternatives, it still does a very good job tracking moving subjects.

You don't get IBIS with this model, unfortunately. The buffer isn't all that deep, but there are some excellent DSLR lenses out there for Canon's EF/EF-S mount, and they won't run you as much as full-frame mirrorless options. The camera's also well-built, weather-sealed, and feels great in the hand, making for a great all-around shooting experience.

Speaking of Canon DSLRs, the Canon EOS 90D is our top mid-range pick for portrait photography. Unlike the picks above, it uses an APS-C sensor but has a high resolution to capture fine detail. It's also a DSLR, so while you don't get to preview your images in real-time, you get an unfiltered view of your subject and a battery life that blows mirrorless competitors out of the water. Add in a very solid autofocus system with eye detection in live view mode, and you've got a camera that's well-equipped for all kinds of portrait photos.

Canon's EF-S mount also has a ton of native lens options to choose from, including full-frame EF lenses. Some of these are hard to beat for the price, too, like the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8, which is one of the best bang-for-your-buck lenses out there. With its 80mm equivalent on the 90D's crop sensor, it makes for a great budget portrait lens. There are plenty of higher-end options as well, including solid third-party lenses from Sigma and Tamron. Overall, it's a great camera for portrait photos if you don't want to spend a fortune but still want some premium features like weather sealing and eye AF.

This is an SLR and that's why you want to buy it, because you want that optical viewfinder experience and then regard it's actually a really enjoyable camera to use. But if you find that you're really digging the dual pixel autofocus and that's the way you want to go, you might as well get a Canon EOS

 The weird thing that stands out to me as a DSLR is inherently a worse format for recording video than a mirrorless camera, but for some reason the 90 D gets more video features than the m6 Mark. I don't get canons logic so, as we reflect on the duality of the canon, eos 9dd, it really brings up an important question. What is this canon eos 90 d trying to be?  Now I want to make this clear, because we got a lot of questions about this, that isn't to say that if you use lenses that aren't quite able to maximize that full 32 megapixels of resolution that you're not gon na get good results. Those lenses will perform at the best of their capabilities, but if you really want to see maximum detail out of this sensor, you will have to look at lenses. That will give you that now, because this is an EF platform - you've got tons of lens choices. Lots of great EF lenses, like this 24 to 72 8 - that I've gone on here, for example, and tons of third-party support as well

 Op and again, just like we talked about with our m6 mark to review. This sensor seems to be giving you extra resolution without costing you any dynamic range or low-light performance. Now, cramming over 32 megapixels and into an aps-c size sensor is a lot in a small space, and so just like we said with the m6 Mark 2 video. You might have to be choosy about what lenses you're gon na use to get full advantage out of that 32 + megapixels

The 7 Best Cameras For Landscape Photography - Spring 2022

Most photographers who pick up the 90D are going to use the optical finder. A preference for an OVF is the compelling reason to opt for an SLR over a mirrorless model in today's market. When doing so, you get a 45-point autofocus system with the same spread as the 80D, 77D, and Rebel T7i.

 Likewise, autofocus spreads are wider, and facial recognition is even better&mdash;eye detection is becoming more and more common. They're simply more reliable for getting in-focus faces, especially in candid and action shots.

5MP sensor with support for 4K video, improved autofocus both in the viewfinder and Live View, and some slight ergonomic improvements. The upgrades aren't significant enough for us to consider it the actual replacement for the EOS 7D Mark II, which is still on sale with a more rugged build and better-feeling controls, but the 90D is an attractive camera for customers happy with the features and feel of the 80D and earlier models. Canon EOS 90D Review

Another reason I love the 90D is the auto focus it's super fast and accurate I previously used a Rebel T6 and it struggled to focus on small birds like the one in this picture especially when they are mixed in with foliage that combined the extremely fast (10fps) continuous shooting ensures you will get a good shot.

The 90D with a 300mm lens is perfect for hand held wildlife thanks to the crop factor the 300mm becomes a 480mm which gives me a ton of reach in a kit that cost less than $1800 and isn't a huge 500mm on a full frame where the animals will be gone by the time I get the tripod setup.

Honestly, I feel like full frame is overvalued, especially for non-professionals who don't need the best of the best to make max profit. That being said, they are rather close, in size as well as in price. I'd usually go with MILC over DSLR, but that's a personal thing and your opinion or feelings might differ, but I assume you don't have a preference, otherwise you'd not be asking the question. If you get FF lenses for better quality, then size doesn't matter, they'll be close

 If you get lenses made for crop sensors then the 90D setup will end up being smaller overall. For video, I'd definitely choose the 90D. I'd not count megapixeles as an advantage for the 90D because the 26MP of the RP is more than enough and the difference isn't that big. The 90D will work with EF and EF-S lenses, which are cheaper and you can get them used

 The RP will work with RF lenses that are better but more expensive, and can work with EF lenses with an adapter, so by lens choices the RP is better, if you don't mind working with an adapter. Low light is probably better with the RP, but the 90D won't be bad either. So anyway, sorry if my comment is an unorganised mess, it is 03:20 here rn and I just wrote whatever came to my mind, I might edit later or write an answer to this, but overall, if you don't mind the bigger lenses (maybe even more expensive ones), and you don't do video, I'd get the RP, otherwise go with the 90D

Hi I am mew to photography but have done some studying on it while I saved up to buy my very forst camera. The problem I have now is deciding if i want to go with an aps-c 90D (that on paper and by the looks of it i think i would love and use for a while) or just jump straight to getting a full frame for better low light photos and getting an RP. Whichever camera i end up getting i will probably use untill it dies on me so i take this decision very seriously. Is it worth me getting an APS-C sensor 90D or are the advantages of full frame too good not to miss? Essentially how much better is full frame? I will focus mainly on street, travel and landscape photography with a bit of portraiture added to the mix so i really dont know what to go with...please send help...

The problem I have now is deciding if i want to go with an aps-c 90D (that on paper and by the looks of it i think i would love and use for a while) or just jump straight to getting a full frame for better low light photos and getting an RP. Whichever camera i end up getting i will probably use untill it dies on me so i take this decision very seriously. Is it worth me getting an APS-C sensor 90D or are the advantages of full frame too good not to miss? Essentially how much better is full frame? I will focus mainly on street, travel and landscape photography with a bit of portraiture added to the mix so i really dont know what to go with...please send help...
Edit: I was also looking at the sony a7 ii but im not sure if it still holds up for photos?</p>

90D or RP for a beginner photographer

As with anything, I feel like you just have to list out your requirements, figure out your price point, and then see if Equipment X checks all the boxes. 90D is certainly a quality piece of gear, just have to see if it fits everything.

Long question short, should I wait for a new camera release, look elsewhere, or go for the 90D?

As a happy hobbyist, I enjoy filming and photographing both in-and outdoors. Mostly it's music related like filming a band or taking their promo photos, and so forth.

I also film myself in a home music studio situation (low light indoors etc.), but I've ordered softboxes to solve some of that.

Also tourist,nature and landscape photography is a big part of my interest, albeit it doesn't happen that often nowadays.

In all of these projects I use Adobe PS, AE, or PR at some point during the process. (might be relevant information)

I most likely won't tap into everything the camera has to offer, but an uncropped 4k DSLR seems quite appealing, but I sit with the same question, is it still worth it?

[Question] Canon EOS 90D - Still worth it?

 I would have to do that now. You will notice that the model has super large eyes that were beautiful and that should make it much easier to autofocus. On her eyes now I did notice some differences between the m6 mark 2 and the 90 d. One of those things is that I found it much harder to lock focus in on the eyeball at 2

 Now when it came to using the 90 d to track the car coming down the hill. It was much more difficult because the auto focusing points can't start at the top of the frame and also they can't lock on when the mirror is down using it as a DSLR. So you have to wait till it comes into the frame or you have to find it using the continuous autofocus and then get your composition, which means you're gon na end up missing the framing that you wanted to get more often than not. The 90 d does have a tracking mode, it's kind of like 3d tracking in the Nikon, where the focusing points are always bouncing around off of the subject when you find it it's just what I don't like about using the DSLR at this point is the fact That I couldn't just hit the screen, have it lock on and track it that's important, because the new technology allows you to do that

 The 90 D offers you a very large buffer that you won't outrun unless you're shooting for over eight seconds. I had no problem shooting at ten frames, a second tracking, a car, doing my best job of trying to track the car and just lop it off ten frames, a second that is a lot of frames to pull off and the buffer does a much better job Than the MC Exmark, so was it better shooting the drifting car with the 90 d or the m6 mark? Honestly, they both did a very nice job, but I preferred using the m6 mark because the auto focusing points could lock right onto the car and track it. The auto focus on the 90 D was pretty good and the 10 frames. A second was obviously nice, because I only got 7 frames a second with the m6 mark, but they both handled very well to add to all of that Steven was able to get some really cool slow-motion footage at 120 frames, a second with the m6 mark, while The cars were drifting by one of the things you won't find in the m6 mark is a headphone jack

 Another thing that separates it from the m6 Mark 2 is the fact that you can add a battery grip and a vertical grip. So you can shoot in vertical, whereas the m6 mark 2 won't do that. This camera shoots. 10 frames a second for a DSLR

 You also move away from micro adjustments issues too. Battery life is ok, not great, offset by small batteries and much easier charging with USB-C. 

Just a simple answer is enough! Is the RP body better than a 70D apart from it's full frame sensor? The battery life sucks compared to a 70D and it also shoots less fast. 

I am mainly doing astrophotography or scenery shots. What do you think? Is it worth an upgrade? And how is the EF to RF adapter? Does that work fine?
