Full manual control is available when recording video, and you can quickly adjust the resolution and other settings when in Live View video mode via the i button. The footage shows an incredible amount of detail, although there is evidence of the rolling shutter effect during very quick camera movements, but that's to be expected from a full-frame camera.

For serious reach in birding you'll have to spend a lot more money. The 75 - 300 has decent reach and if you have it stopped down to f8 and are shooting in sunlight you should be able to get pretty good close-ups of birds. The Canon 100 - 400 mm L lens is a very popular birding lens that will be much sharper than what you have and can be had for under $1,000 used, but it's not going to give you much more reach. If you're looking to zoom in much closer, you're going to be in 500 to 600 mm territory which gets very expensive very quickly

6G IF-ED that doesn't seem to shoot clearly anymore. I have used the heck out of this lens on my D90 and then moved on to the D810. I was able to shoot handheld at 300mm and get amazing shots in the past but no more. I tried AF fine tuning and enabling electronic front curtain shutter but nothing helps so I assume it is damaged

Weight is similarly svelte, below every 5D and the 7D, and about even with the 60D. The larger cameras will balance a bit better with heavy lenses; this 6D will be the preferable travel body by a small margin. New relative to the 5D II are improved weather sealing and a much-appreciated mode dial lock. It's not clear how comprehensive the sealing is; I still wouldn't take it in the rain, and very few non-L Canon lenses are weatherproof

So I ordered the D810 and put my D3 - both on Amazon - up for sale at the same time, and the 810 arrived on the day the D3 sold! (Thanks, Amazon!) And I love the D810 for landscape work. I put photos up on an internet web site and enlarge them to perhaps 16x20 for gallery display, and this camera with its "giant family size" sensor, excels at that stuff. I do have to say - and the only reason I didn't give it five stars - is that with the MB-D12 attached, it gets pretty heavy and pretty big, pretty fast. So, it no longer exactly falls to hand, but its a keeper anyway
