Among the lenses you’re looking at, I’d definitely recommend the Nikon 200-500. I know it’s slightly shorter than a 150-600, but it more than makes up for it with greater sharpness. Even cropped to match the field of view of a 600mm, the 500mm’s images will look sharper than the 150-600.

Its autofocus system also performs decently well when tracking moving subjects, though it's not as impressive as higher-end models.

I found it to be reasonably sharp throughout its zoom range, but plagued by some rather extreme distortion throughout. This can be automatically corrected in-camera, even when shooting Raw, by enabling Auto Distortion Control via the menu.

I find the battery life to be quite decent- I have gotten a couple of spares and always keep one handy. I did get the 18-140 kit lens based on the reviews. I was fairly satisfied with it for a while but did find I wanted more reach and ended up buying the 50-300 telephoto which I really do love and find I can get much better close-ups and detail than with the kit lens. I mostly like to take pictures outdoors of ducks, squirrels, birds and nature in general

For serious reach in birding you'll have to spend a lot more money. The 75 - 300 has decent reach and if you have it stopped down to f8 and are shooting in sunlight you should be able to get pretty good close-ups of birds. The Canon 100 - 400 mm L lens is a very popular birding lens that will be much sharper than what you have and can be had for under $1,000 used, but it's not going to give you much more reach. If you're looking to zoom in much closer, you're going to be in 500 to 600 mm territory which gets very expensive very quickly

Weight is similarly svelte, below every 5D and the 7D, and about even with the 60D. The larger cameras will balance a bit better with heavy lenses; this 6D will be the preferable travel body by a small margin. New relative to the 5D II are improved weather sealing and a much-appreciated mode dial lock. It's not clear how comprehensive the sealing is; I still wouldn't take it in the rain, and very few non-L Canon lenses are weatherproof

This D5300 is very light! I don't need touch screen so decided on the D5300 to save some money. I also played around with the Fuji X-T1 a bit at the store, and while it is an excellent camera, I find myself liking the Nikon auto-focus system a lot more. Fuji is fast enough, but Nikon's auto focus just feels more instantaneous. Warning: If you buy grey market camera, Nikon USA won't repair the camera for you and you would have to go through a third party repair shop
