My biggest concern is the sharpness of my photos. I downloaded them to my computer and really didn't see any images exceptionally crisp. I used Auto, TV, and AP settings, and a few with the flash, which incidentally works quite well, but the switch to employ it is too tiny. My last point & shoot was the venerable G15 which was wonderful until I scratched the lens

My only complaints, -the shake on extreme zoom is pretty bad. The smallest moves will show huge movements on video. Of course most of my shots where from my kayak where it was nearly impossible to not shake/sway while shooting. -The auto focus is my other complaint

I have a decent compact now and for most shots I'm happy with it.It's not about the camera, it never was, the thing that gets the aahs and oohs is what's in the picture and how you arranged it, and that's the much more difficult part.

The zoom gets you in close and the Wi-Fi feature is nice to move photos. One thing to keep in mind is it does not come with a member card, but they have gotten so cheap now it's not much of an issue.

There are some good things about it operationally that make it easier to use than the quirky, sometimes uncooperative G7x. Calling this lens "superb" is a stretch. I realize that big zooms involve trade offs so my findings are not that surprising I guess but I was hoping for better. Image quality shows less sharpness and lower contrast than the G7x by far

The camera is very easy to use and the Optical Image Stabilizer really helps produce sharp pictures. Extremely helpful for unsteady people like me. I just love the 4K movie quality from this camera!

The battery life is good. It doesn't take forever to charge either. I really like the quality of the image. All my pictures came out so good

For serious reach in birding you'll have to spend a lot more money. The 75 - 300 has decent reach and if you have it stopped down to f8 and are shooting in sunlight you should be able to get pretty good close-ups of birds. The Canon 100 - 400 mm L lens is a very popular birding lens that will be much sharper than what you have and can be had for under $1,000 used, but it's not going to give you much more reach. If you're looking to zoom in much closer, you're going to be in 500 to 600 mm territory which gets very expensive very quickly

When changing zoom power always focus in the zoom mode AND shut off auto focus. I forgot to shut off auto focus a few times and have nice crisp zoomed in shots when videoing but then when zooming out, the auto focus chose something in the foreground and left my main subject soft again. Also I had to get used to a separate button to start videoing whereas my older Canon cameras used the same shutter button to start video. Missed a few video shots due to this

So, even though I usually do recommend lenses over bodies as I said, in this case I'd say that selling the 24mm, 55-250 and 18-55, and getting a 6D and one of the 35, 38, or 24mm primes I mentioned above, would be your most appropriate move. The 50mm can stay as a new general-purpose lens and the 70-200 would fill the gap left by the 55-250, though if your bird photography is something you *really* enjoy I'd suggest ditching it and picking up a 400mm f/5.6L instead, if not a Tamron 150-600mm G2 or Sigma 150-60mm Contemporary.

I still have a SX730HS and did side by side comparisons between it and the SX740HS. It seems like the larger focal range of the lens has created a transition region problem in a zoom region which is a typical focal length for most people and in that range images are really blurry. The SX730HS doesn't have this problem. Changing between image settings on the SX740HS doesn't seem to fix the blurr when it occurs

Weight is similarly svelte, below every 5D and the 7D, and about even with the 60D. The larger cameras will balance a bit better with heavy lenses; this 6D will be the preferable travel body by a small margin. New relative to the 5D II are improved weather sealing and a much-appreciated mode dial lock. It's not clear how comprehensive the sealing is; I still wouldn't take it in the rain, and very few non-L Canon lenses are weatherproof

Arm fatigue was not bad, although this one is heavier than the Lumix camera I had. I do miss the lens ring from the Lumix for fine adjustments of a chosen setting. As with many cameras of this type, the lens is a little slow, but I'll take that tradeoff for less bulk. It is capable of great macros, but the autofocus gets in the way
