 I was looking at the 18 megapixel count, like 18 megapixels. That's a lot of pixels, especially when you're looking at a full-frame sensor. But now, we got cameras like the Canon R5 with 45 megapixels, and the Sony A1 with 50 megapixels, and the Canon R1 is rumored to be like 80 megapixels. I don't know if that's true or not, but jeez, if that's the case, camera equipment's getting so good, so fast

 It's got some cool takeoff shots. When it came to action, the autofocus in this camera was just amazing. What's great about something like the 1DX series is they're just so robust. These cameras, they can take a beating

The Canon 1DX – Does this DINO still BITE??

 When does gear expire? When does gear become obsolete? That is a question that

 many of you guys always ask when you are talking about camera equipment, talking

 about lenses, talking about all these cool gadgets that companies are coming

 out with all the time. Well, since, how long has it been? Since about November, I have

 been able to test out this guy. This is the Canon 1DX Mark 1. This body's been

 around for a long time. It's probably been around since, what, 2012? Is this

 camera obsolete? Has this camera reached the end of its life? Well, let's talk

 So, this is the Canon 1DX. This guy came out in 2012. This camera is an oldie. He's

 been around, or she, but this guy was the premier sports camera back in the day.

 I'm saying back in the day. I mean, it was ten years ago. That's a long time,

 especially when you're talking about technology. Technology just seems to

 accelerate in growth. Now, it seems like it's only like a year until things

 become obsolete. Now, ten years is a long time for a camera. A lot of people, when

 they're looking to buy new stuff, especially sports photographers, who are

 going to be the ones who are going to be interested in a camera like this, might

 be thinking, why would anyone even consider using a camera from ten years

 ago? Well, when I first got this guy, that's what I was thinking. I was looking

 at the 18 megapixel count, like 18 megapixels. That's a lot of

 pixels, especially when you're looking at a full-frame sensor. But now, we got

 cameras like the Canon R5 with 45 megapixels, and the Sony A1 with 50

 megapixels, and the Canon R1 is rumored to be like 80 megapixels. I don't

 know if that's true or not, but jeez, if that's the case, camera equipment's

 getting so good, so fast. Well, here are a couple things I noticed with the Canon

 1DX. If you are a video shooter, don't even look at this camera, because this

 camera sucks with video. I'm sorry. But when it comes to stills, this

 camera slaps with stills. Probably not supposed to be doing that, but I'm doing

 it anyway. 12 frames a second. 12 frames per second is really, really good when it

 comes to sports photography, when it comes to nature photography. Now, did I

 find that there is a limitation? That was in English. Did I find that there was a

 limitation with this when it comes to wildlife photography? Yeah, 18 megapixels

 is not that much with wildlife photography, especially when you need to

 crop in, but I was able to get some great shots. I go get this cool screech

 owl peeking out of a hole. It's got some cool takeoff shots. When it came to

 action, the autofocus in this camera was just amazing. What's great about

 something like the 1DX series is they're just so robust. These cameras, they can

 take a beating. I probably shouldn't be doing that, but this is a heavy camera. I

 could probably knock somebody out with this. I also had a great time when going

 out to take portraits. This camera handles some very, very, very low ISO. I

 was able to go to 6,400, no problem. It was a breeze, and that was great,

 especially when I had to get up early morning looking for owls and doing some

 owl shoots. So that was great too. So portraits, wildlife photography, those are

 two very separate things, but this camera did very well on both fronts. This is the

 layout of the Canon 1DX. No touchscreen on this guy, so you are going to be

 accessing everything from the wheel, from the joystick. You're not going to be

 using any touchscreen stuff, but hey, you get used to it after a while, especially

 because Canon does a great job with laying all of their buttons out. You can

 easily access everything in a pinch. All I need to mess around the ISO, let me

 press the ISO button and mess around with that. Check that out. It's pretty

 cool. The wheel is also super addicting to turn, but again, this is really, really

 good for wildlife and sports photography. What ultimately saves this

 camera is that sensor. The Canon 1DX sensor is just an amazing sensor that

 really keeps this camera punching with the big boys, because this was the big
