 A lot of gibbers like that, I tend to like having a little bit of forward lean so I get on my heels that edge a little bit more, but the high back does have that zero lean style option. And then of course there's the ankle strap, this is the Hammock Strap 2.0, this is a mold injected style strap that features this flex slider, I believe I was calling that the living hinge before, the flex slider actually allows the ankle strap to stay open so you get more room to slide your foot in, it's actually kind of nice, but this ankle strap has a little bit of a softer appeal than what you'll find in some of the other mold injected straps like the Cartel and I believe the Genesis Genesis X, it actually has nice cool contours, it's 3D molded, has a little bit more lateral and medial style support and then a center style spine. The mold injection style ankle straps are nice, they conform really well to your boots and they use a lot less material in the manufacturing process

 Reflex means that Burton has kind of cored out the middle of the binding so it flexes more natural with the contours of the snow that you're riding on your board. You actually get a really good amount of board feel with the reflex style option. It's a little bit more sturdy than what you find in the EST option which gives you the most premier level of board feel but this one will flex better than basically any other binding out there because it doesn't cause any dead spots directly underneath your foot and they actually do that with these discs. These Missions, the reflex can be mounted on 4x4, 2x4 and of course the channel system style boards and the hinge actually has a little hinge kind of on it or the design is like a hinge so it flexes quite a bit better

The Mission has a Giddy Grip cap strap, it's found in a lot of bindings, it's been in the line for a long time, it has internal style ribbing so it grips on the toe cap of your boots, it's not suggested that you wear it on the top of your foot, it's not really a top of foot styled strap, but you can probably do it but don't do it. But overall that cap strap actually has a very low profile to it and then there's the smooth glide buckles, you can find these same buckles in the custom and of course the freestyle bindings, they're big tabs, easy release levers, it's easy to use

 The flex slider is actually on the ladder of the ankle strap that allows the ankle strap to stay open to allow your foot to slide into the binding easier when you're ratcheting these things up. Now, the toe strap is a get-a-grip cap strap. Burton has had that in its line. Again, there's tool-less centering adjustments both on the ankle and the toe strap, and then there's the smooth glide buckles

 The ankle strap is a react strap. As you see, it's 3D contoured. I really love the leather appeal to it, and it has internal style spines. It seems to be a little bit thicker on the lateral side, a little bit thinner on the medial side, and it fits pretty much every single boot out there really, really well

 So if you want your fibula and tibia to be like straight up, you can have it at 90 degrees. Then there's the ankle strap. The ankle strap is a react strap. As you see, it's 3D contoured

 Now, it is in the medium kind of response spectrum, but it's on the higher or stiffer end of the medium response. And that's because of that 30% short glass nylon single component base plate. Now, the base plate, again, features a reflex style componentry to it. Basically, the whole thing is cored out, and it does have discs

Pretty good bindings, the only issue I have with them is that the ankle support needs to wrap around further or not at all cause it gets folded back behind your boot sometimes when you wipeout and it’s a little annoying. Other than that they are fine

 Others were a little indifferent. They liked the performance and the comfort of the binding, but found themselves using it like a conventional two strap for most of the day. And if that's how you're going to use it, your money is probably best spent elsewhere. And they did all agree on one thing, though

 Similarly, the wider footprint of the baseplate might ever so slightly interfere with your board's more natural flex pattern. What I will say though is that the rockered design around the edges of the baseplate are designed to limit this effect. Anyway, the question everyone wants to know. Is this a game changer? Well, yes and no

 Even without the automatic drop-in technology, these would stand up on their own as a quality pair of performance all-mountain bindings. A couple things to keep in mind though. Naturally, the extra components used in the binding do add a little extra weight and volume to these. It's not overly noticeable, but maybe something you do want to be aware of

 It's probably going to take you a day or two to get comfortable and efficient at using the system, but once you've got it, you'll be getting in and out in absolutely no time. Find your perfect strap fit, fix it in place with the locking ratchets here, and you've got the exact same fit every time you step in. But then again, you don't have to rely on this. That's the beauty of the Supermatics

Nidecker Supermatic 2023 Snowboard Binding Review

 So the next problem this step-in binding tackles is snow getting clogged up and jammed in Places where your boot would click in if you had a Burton or K2 step-in binding I'm not saying it'll never happen with this binding. All I'm saying is it'll happen a lot less frequently There's only two real spots where it could really happen in this binding and that's gonna be where the hinge makes the connection on The backside of the binding here, but to be completely honest with you guys I rode this binding probably five or six times during the end of main season more into spring where the snow starts getting really slushy And I never really ran into a problem with it So lastly as you can see this step-in binding actually has a strap system to it now with this strap system Don't worry. It's still gonna be able to step in just as easy as any of the other ones However, I find that this adds an added level of security if you will just gives me a little more confidence that nothing's gonna go Wrong couldn't possibly pop out because you know, if you did these straps would save you in a way So now I want to get into how this binding performs on snow Like I said before I got to ride it about five to six times last year We actually got it in early We were able to demo it a little bit before it hit the market and let me tell you if you're looking for a wicked Responsive hard charging binding with all the conveniences of a step-in This is definitely the binding for you now to get into the straps on the binding These are actually pretty cool because it's mostly a set it and forget it type of deal So basically you want to put your boot in here Lock down the straps as needed to where you feel secure on it And then like I said before with this little lever right here The straps will stay in place and you just pull the back out and that way when you lock in Are totally secure in there. You really don't have to touch them another feature

I should mention with the straps as well They have a little color coding to let you know when the straps are unlocked versus locked So when you flip the strap up and you see this orange little block on the strap, that means it can move freely So whenever you are setting it you want to make sure you can't see that orange and you want to have it locked down With any step in binding on the market You're gonna run into a little bit of added weight whether it's Burton or k2 with their boots being bulky and you know inherently heavier this binding there is a Little bit more weight to it. But all in all I didn't really find it too much of a problem So bottom line being if you're in the market for a new step in binding And you're looking for something that rips really hard and is super responsive
