Burton Cartel X vs Union Strata

Of those, I definitely agree with the above, Cartel is a great binding. No reason why you should limit yourself to just Burton though, I recommend Union Bindings personally. The Force is a great do everything binding. Boots all fit differently so you need to go see a boot fitter if you don’t know what profile foot you have

I wouldn't go as soft as the Strata for a board like the Mercury, but that's because I see it as a board to ride all over the mountain, even on some harder lines that benefit from more response. The Cartel X, or the Union Atlas, seem like overkill, though. Too stiff for a do-it-all deck like the Merc. Personally, I'd go Union Force, Burton Cartel, Nitro Team, Ride C-6, Rome Katana

I was skeptical about the toe strap but I've grown to like it a lot since it give you the support of on the toe and over the toe with one strap. I also liked the forward lean adjustment not being limited to a few pre-determined angles and being able to move the ankle strap higher up the binding for more support. My only dislike was the limited stance width adjustments coming from someone who has only ridden Union bindings before and having the option to slide the bindings towards or away from each other after mounting them.
