I wouldn't trust the lock to hold under great strain, but this knife isn't for those kinds of jobs. Great knife; a pocket-sized (and weighted) 110

 1) small in size as mentioned above ( but still large enough for reasonable use) 2) light weight 3) very slim profile 4) not "tactical" looking 5) US made This turns out to be harder than one might imagine. Knives tend to be too large, or too military looking for polite use, or most dreadfully made "offshore". Enter the "55". I have long been a fan of buck knives and have a deep respect for the fact that they manage to produce a high quality product in the US while keeping their prices very reasonable

 The good news is that the knife arrived and fits my parameters perfectly; it is small, light, handsome with brass bolsters and polished rose wood scales, but alas the blade was completely dull. I am not a stickler for the sharpness of a knife when it arrives, as I have high standards for sharpness and also understand that you need to be willing to work with a blade over its life. However the 55 that I receive appeared unfinished, the blade seems to have received the the first shaping grind, but none of the subsequent polishing or sharpening grinds, I had to work for 20 minutes on a grinding stone to get the primary bevel in place and another 10 minutes of work before it would cut paper. Once that happened the knife was perfect, I was just a bit surprised and disappointed that this one snuck out the door of the buck factory essentially as an unfinished item

 Like it's big brother, the 55 is superb workmanship, and incredibly sharp. It's very lightweight, but also striking in simplicity and beauty. I find myself not wanting to have this in my pocket everyday, but on occasion, so as not to age it too quickly, but then again, at only around $30, it's easily replaced. I can't say this any more positively than this: If you need a single blade, locking pocket knife, sharp enough to skin deer or whatever, buy this knife! You will love it!

 However, after receiving this knife, I had to review this one. I already have the Buck 110, and have used it in skinning deer, and I couldn't be happier. Tried and true USA pocket knife

I like the knife, however fit and finish on the scales could be better. The blade arrived with a burr, almost seems like they didn't finish sharpening it.

 Now this is going to have a rather stout blade back here by the eye hole or the thumb hole right here to deploy at 0.15. So very thick back here, but it tapers down to an extremely precise tip really quick and it has a very large amount of belly that you're seeing through the action really helps it to slice. So this is, even though on the thicker side of pocket knives, an extremely good slicer

 The main reason for me was because of not only the price to the handle to pocket clip dimension sizes, it was just really big, it rode really high in my pocket and just really wasn't for me in my style of EDC carrying when I everyday carry a pocket knife. So this one really connected with me when I saw that they were releasing it because it's basically just a compact version of that knife. So I was like, sweet, this might be right up my alley. So we are going to do a full walkthrough today testing with this blade

 They come in at a little bit cheaper for the most part for most of the different steel options that they now offer. And it's going to be, for me, just slightly more ergonomic and basically give me the same performance. Not to say that I don't like the Para 3, it's still a great knife. But it would be, I would say, second choice to the blades that you've seen here at this particular point for the Spydercos that we've looked at, kind of in the middle of the three

 So we're going to talk today, is this still better than the Para 3 or are they about the same or do I like the Para 3 better? We're going to discuss all that, run these knives in together.
