I wouldn't trust the lock to hold under great strain, but this knife isn't for those kinds of jobs. Great knife; a pocket-sized (and weighted) 110

 1) small in size as mentioned above ( but still large enough for reasonable use) 2) light weight 3) very slim profile 4) not "tactical" looking 5) US made This turns out to be harder than one might imagine. Knives tend to be too large, or too military looking for polite use, or most dreadfully made "offshore". Enter the "55". I have long been a fan of buck knives and have a deep respect for the fact that they manage to produce a high quality product in the US while keeping their prices very reasonable

 The good news is that the knife arrived and fits my parameters perfectly; it is small, light, handsome with brass bolsters and polished rose wood scales, but alas the blade was completely dull. I am not a stickler for the sharpness of a knife when it arrives, as I have high standards for sharpness and also understand that you need to be willing to work with a blade over its life. However the 55 that I receive appeared unfinished, the blade seems to have received the the first shaping grind, but none of the subsequent polishing or sharpening grinds, I had to work for 20 minutes on a grinding stone to get the primary bevel in place and another 10 minutes of work before it would cut paper. Once that happened the knife was perfect, I was just a bit surprised and disappointed that this one snuck out the door of the buck factory essentially as an unfinished item

 Like it's big brother, the 55 is superb workmanship, and incredibly sharp. It's very lightweight, but also striking in simplicity and beauty. I find myself not wanting to have this in my pocket everyday, but on occasion, so as not to age it too quickly, but then again, at only around $30, it's easily replaced. I can't say this any more positively than this: If you need a single blade, locking pocket knife, sharp enough to skin deer or whatever, buy this knife! You will love it!

I like the knife, however fit and finish on the scales could be better. The blade arrived with a burr, almost seems like they didn't finish sharpening it.

3 ounces, which is it's really lightweight, extremely lightweight and great for EDC. You know it's really not a delicate knife delicas. Just it's an awesome, awesome EDC blade, it's just for the size. It'S packed in a really big punch

 One of them is the price point. You know for this little ultra cool blade you can, you can have it for around 50 bucks and they've got tons of cool colorations. The vg-10 steel is pretty good by most standards and it's just just a great little lightweight pocket knife, so I wanted to give everyone just my thoughts, an opinion on the knife and kind of give you my take on it. Let me start off by giving you the weight, throw the scale up here, zero in and out all right, so the delicas looking at about 2

 You can also choke up on the blade like that, with your your top finger onto the spine of the blade. You know there's a little bit of a toil on the bottom, but it's not really meant for that, so I wouldn't recommend doing that. But I suppose, if you had to when you're doing up close cut tasks that weren't too too much that weren't too hard, you could do that, but there's no jumping right here, so I wouldn't recommend it now. I was talking about the texturization of this handle

 You know it just grabs right on the on. My thumbnail no problem, so it is extremely sharp now the delica wanted to give you guys kind of a size reference if anyone has never had one so we'll do a measurement. Spyderco Delica 4 Review - Its a Knife Delicacy!!!

The opening and closing action is much different. The movement is buttery smooth but heavy. You're not going to accidentally open it in your pocket, and it feels rock solid when locked open. I can open it one handed, but it doesn't "flick" like the Benchmade

I elected not to bother dealing with getting a brand new knife "fixed." I contacted the seller for a return and they gave it to me, even paying the return shipping themselves. Great service from both Spyderco and eCop! but I'm not going to put up with what I at least perceive to be a flawed brand new $60 dollar knife.

 You're not going to accidentally open it in your pocket, and it feels rock solid when locked open. I can open it one handed, but it doesn't "flick" like the Benchmade. I can't close it one handed, but that's not such a bad thing. You're not going to accidentally unlock it either

 The blade length is identical to the mini-grip, but it's thinner and has much more of a slicing character. It doesn't feel fragile at all though. The handle is also a touch thinner than the mini grip. However that big thumbhole makes it much wider when closed

 I'm not sure whether I'm going to send it to Spyderco to ask them to finish machining the damn knife, get out a file and some super fine sandpaper and do it myself, or just return it and get something else.

 It had a VG-10 steel blade that was 3 inches long and was incredibly sharp. It had the Spyderco lock on the back of the knife about two thirds of the way down. I rather liked the old back locks because they are one of the most dependable blade locks on the market.  The problem was the design of the G-10 grips on the handles of this knife

 I quickly found it in the Benchmade Mini-Griptilian. It had a 2.91 inch blade, almost identical to the length of the blade on the Spyderco. It also had grips made of G-10, but the blocks on the grips were significantly smaller and did not seem to have the very sharp edge on them as did the Spyderco

The S30V super steel of which the Mini-Griptilian blade is made is incredibly sharp and will probably hold its edge longer than the VG-10 of the Spyderco blade. Most importantly, I am no longer grinding the skin off my knuckles!
