I wouldn't trust the lock to hold under great strain, but this knife isn't for those kinds of jobs. Great knife; a pocket-sized (and weighted) 110

 1) small in size as mentioned above ( but still large enough for reasonable use) 2) light weight 3) very slim profile 4) not "tactical" looking 5) US made This turns out to be harder than one might imagine. Knives tend to be too large, or too military looking for polite use, or most dreadfully made "offshore". Enter the "55". I have long been a fan of buck knives and have a deep respect for the fact that they manage to produce a high quality product in the US while keeping their prices very reasonable

 The good news is that the knife arrived and fits my parameters perfectly; it is small, light, handsome with brass bolsters and polished rose wood scales, but alas the blade was completely dull. I am not a stickler for the sharpness of a knife when it arrives, as I have high standards for sharpness and also understand that you need to be willing to work with a blade over its life. However the 55 that I receive appeared unfinished, the blade seems to have received the the first shaping grind, but none of the subsequent polishing or sharpening grinds, I had to work for 20 minutes on a grinding stone to get the primary bevel in place and another 10 minutes of work before it would cut paper. Once that happened the knife was perfect, I was just a bit surprised and disappointed that this one snuck out the door of the buck factory essentially as an unfinished item

 Like it's big brother, the 55 is superb workmanship, and incredibly sharp. It's very lightweight, but also striking in simplicity and beauty. I find myself not wanting to have this in my pocket everyday, but on occasion, so as not to age it too quickly, but then again, at only around $30, it's easily replaced. I can't say this any more positively than this: If you need a single blade, locking pocket knife, sharp enough to skin deer or whatever, buy this knife! You will love it!

Well made, great Buck quality that you expect. Just understand that this is a small knife, and very light. Great for carrying in your slacks, but don't expect to use it for heavy duty tasks.

I like the knife, however fit and finish on the scales could be better. The blade arrived with a burr, almost seems like they didn't finish sharpening it.

 The shorter filler screws are to keep pocket lint etc from fouling the holes. Be sure to use them if you remove either accessory. This is the most beautifully crafted production knife ive ever seen. You will not be dissapointed with this one and will forget all about the $325 spent

 The one and only bad thing i can say is that the flipper tab and thumb disc screws, infact all the screws are very small and difficult to manage when reconfiguring the blade. They are of excellent quality and wont easily strip but are difficult to hold on to. But aesthetically the small screws were needed for the elegant design so its just a minor inconvenience. Youll likely only need to handle them once as you outfit the blade to your preferences

 This is the most beautifully crafted production knife ive ever seen. You will not be dissapointed with this one and will forget all about the $325 spent. You have to see it to believe it.an exceptional work of art and extremely highly recommended
