After doing a bit of research I have shortlisted the Btwin 500 and Zizzo Urbano as they seem to be a similar price. Which one of these would be the better buy? The bike will be something I use for leisure and exercise.

I actually considered these same bikes myself and it was looking at them in person that helped make up my mind (I went for the Tilt 500). The aluminium frame on the Tilt 500 makes a surprisingly big difference to how heavy it feels - this was a big deal for me as I have to carry it up to the 2nd floor but it also helps when carrying it on the tube etc. Both the Tilt 120 and the Carrera Transit are pretty heavy in comparison.

I've just moved into a new apartment, and have been looking for a folding bike I can store indoors for occasional rides to the shops and to get used to cycling around my new city. I'm 5'10, \~65kg and in good physical fitness, but haven't ridden much at all for the past few years.

I've narrowed it down to three main options within my budget, all with 20" wheels and similar folded size (i.e small enough). I mainly wanted a folder because it means I can work on it in indoors if necessary and keep it safe and out of the elements overnight, it's not going to be used every day.

I understand that the more expensive bikes will have nicer components and finish etc, but I've got two main questions...

1. Is the hub on the Carrera Transit a major upside for cycling round a small flat city? It seems pretty rare on a folding bike of this price.
2. Is the Tilt 120 really £100 less bike? It seems pretty similar to the Tilt 500 aside from the lack of integrated headlights, steel frame and 1 fewer gear.

Which of these folding bikes would be best? (UK)

 I got the dark blue color which is the only available color here in Australia. If you're looking for other colors there's other lower models which got other colors available. Stock weight for this is around 12 kilograms. It's pretty much a good weight I would consider for an entry level folding bike

 The frame for this is the aluminum 6061 with a high 10 steel so makes it lightweight and also durable for the fork level. The rear derailleur is the Shimano Tourney with a 7-speed cassette and additional reflectors also installed in the tires in white color. The frame for this one is covered with a lifetime warranty from Decathlon excluding the hinges for the folding mechanisms but the frame itself has a lifetime warranty. This comes with V-brakes for both front and back and also some compatible V-eclipse for the lighting if you choose to upgrade

 Stock weight for this is around 12 kilograms. It's pretty much a good weight I would consider for an entry level folding bike. It has the front and rear fenders included and pre-installed very good for protecting against water and mud. The front white reflectors are included as well as the red reflectors which is prerequisite for a bicycle here in Australia

Unfolding a bike is a fairly simple process, so as I've mentioned before, we have a hammerhead in the clip, wedge from the rear between your legs, pull apart, clamp into here, twist, push it down, and then on the handlebars simply lift it, and you're good to go. So, in conclusion, very comfortable ride, extremely lightweight, 7 gears, which is very competitive at the price point that you're paying there

Btwin 500 vs Zizzo Urbano

 It's meant to carry a lot of weight, which means you're going to be putting a lot of strain on the drivetrain. And for them to cheap out on that drivetrain is just a boneheaded move. If you're going to put a cheap drivetrain on it, at least give us the option on the website to upgrade the drivetrain on it because the other two bikes have decent drivetrains. Why shouldn't this one, why shouldn't one that's built strong have a nice strong drivetrain? I mean, it just makes no sense to me

 All right, brand new Zizzo. We are probably going to have to change out this gear, I'm assuming, but it doesn't look like it's going to be easily changed out, which is kind of disappointing. For some reason, Zizzo put the plastic underneath, that means I've got to undo all of these to get that plastic off of it, which is kind of annoying. I do like the wide tires though, it's a lot wider of a tire, looks like it's going to definitely be more of a utilitarian bicycle

 A lot of people probably ask, Brian you got a Liberte, why the heck do you want a Forte? There's a specific selling feature to the Forte above all the other models and that's the fact that it has a 300 pound load capacity on it. Now I know what a lot of you are thinking, a lot of you are like, Brian you're a bean pole, you can't possibly weigh anywhere close to 300 pounds, why do you want a bicycle that has a 300 pound load capacity on it? Good question. Well the reason why guys is because I carry a lot of weight on my bicycle. It has so much deflection and it's not even funny

Zizzo forte - the fatal flaw

I'll admit I'm used to road bikes, with over 3 times as many gears. This bike, in its stock configuration, just isn't fast enough, without over pedaling like a hamster on a wheel. Chatting in forums revealed upgrading components can help, but one seldom purchases a product only to immediately need to modify it for optimal use.

Gearing counts

The drawback to this bike really is the gearing. 7 speed is not enough. Otherwise it’s a great build.
