 The RV-500 is sub £400 pedal which is amazing it means it's coming in more affordable than some of its competitors which is really impressive. So if you're in the market for a new reverb pedal I definitely recommend checking out the RV-500 I think you'll be massively impressed especially if you want high fidelity customisable stereo reverbs. BOSS RV-500 Reverb - A Game Changer

 Alright guys, how are you doing? It's Rabib. Hope you're all good.

 So it's a scorcher in Brighton today, hence the reason I'm wearing shorts,

 but the point of this video is I've got an amazing pedal to show you from the legendary people at BOSS,

 and this is a brand new RV500, which is like their mothership reverb pedal that they've just brought out, and it is insane.

 It's got 12 different reverbs, fully customisable to the nth degree like all other BOSS products,

 on top of which you can assign a delay to each of these reverbs if you want,

 so there's no need for a delay pedal, which you can fully customise, change the type of delay,

 you can blend it in with the reverbs and all that kind of stuff.

 It's got the most insane routing capabilities, so although this is a stereo pedal, you can run in two effects loops,

 And also you can assign a footswitch, external footswitches to control different parameters, expression pedals,

 on top of which the tap control button on the pedal can then be assigned as a momentary effect, a toggle effect,

 you can do all sorts of crazy stuff like warping effects and all that kind of stuff.

 It's got an analogue dry signal path, so it means you can choose between true or buffered bypass,

 and that is programmable per patch. There are 99 banks and you could even have all three buttons doing a reverb,

 so you could actually have let's say 298 different presets in there.

 So let's get into it, let's go through the reverbs and then I'll show you some of the cool rooting options to really get the most out of the RV-500 in terms of your stereo sound.

 Okay so I've got the GoPro set up so you can see the pedal, we're currently on bank 1 and basically the signal path is guitar into the RV-500

 and then out of both outputs so it sums the stereo to the front of both the Kraken and the Kemper.

 But if I then go in and talk about the overall layout of the pedal first, you can see it's quite simple,

 you've got a nice big LED screen there so you can see what you're looking at.

 Of course on the left hand side that's the rotary knob that changes the different type of reverb and then we've got time which is a push pot

 and it changes between reverb and delay as you can see here, you can actually customise the delay at the same time as the reverb by pushing the button.

 And then you've got the four knobs that control the general sound of the patch so you've got pre-delay, echo level, low and high.

 And then on the bottom you've got A, B and tap control which then can be assigned to do many different things which we'll get into a bit later on.

 So that's quite intense, we can turn that down, we can take the pre-delay down and now if I wanted to go and show you how we sort of change the time real fast

 you literally just turn this knob and then we can have down three seconds.

 So it's really really customisable just from the controls that you have on the pedal itself and if you go into editing stuff then it's pretty in depth

 but before we do that I'm going to go around the other reverbs. So we're on room at the minute, let's try a hall, it's definitely a hall, it's much softer but we can boost that high end if we want.

 So that's a whole ten seconds of decay time on the hall which is wicked, let's move on.

 Onto plate now, as you notice every time I'm changing the type it brings up a little mini menu which just shows you the quick parameters that are set currently with those controls on top.

 So it's pretty straight forward, it's quite nice that it does that, let's just jump down the decay time a bit.

 Really really really lush sounding reverbs, I'm enjoying this. Right, spring.

 Well we don't have a spring with that much decay so let's drop this down.

 It's nice, it's really really easy to use, straight up on the face value, just the parameters on top of the pedal, it's really straight forward.

 The thing is, Boss always go mega in depth so this is cool that it's that customisable just without having to do very much. Anyway, let's move on, we've got Shimmer.

 Now of course Shimmer you can completely customise the harmonies and everything about the way it sounds but we're just running through them as an overview for now, fast decay.

 I like it, fast decay. Right, let's move on to early reflections. Now this should sound more like a room, a little bit more like an amp in a room.

 OK, non-linear, it's like a gated sort of reverb sound, it's a reversed gated reverb sound.

 I like that, it's cool. Of course, I'm going through these sort of quickly but that's only because there's so much to talk about in this video and of course this is such an in-depth pedal that the video would end up being an hour long.

 So each of these effects are incredibly customisable and of course you can add delay to any of them. Now there is a smaller amount of delays you can add than there are reverbs, however they're all really, really useful.

 So, moving on to sound effects. So sound effects you can have loads of different kinds but at the minute I'm not sure what we're on, let's have a listen.

 It's like a sort of a lo-fi sort of reverb sound. Now if you want to go and change the sound effect or the SFX as it were, I'll just show you that really quickly how we do it.
