As opposed to traditional earbuds, these things do not go in your ears so much as they go over and around your ears. We are hardly complaining, though; the unique shape of these buds informs all of the rest of the features we love about them. As they are not stuck in your ears, they are extremely comfortable — so much that we sometimes forgot we were wearing them. The little bit of distance that comes from where the micro speakers are placed relative to your ears adds to a fuller soundscape and some of the most impressive full, warm, and booming bass we have heard out of an earbud. 
By nature of their not fitting directly into your ears, these buds lack the Active Noise Reduction that seems to have become industry standard for most other Bluetooth earbuds. Also, they lack the convenience of a charging carrying case, which is becoming standard among earbud competitors. They make up for this shortfall several times over however with their peak athletic performance. One of our testers was able to hang completely upside down without these devices falling off her ears. Because of their exceptional sound quality and athletic performance, we highly recommend these earbuds for outdoor use, where they exceed just about any of the competition. 

The Bose Open Sport is a very unique entree into the earbud field, as they aren't exactly earbuds. They utilize weighted fins that sit on top of your ears, and there aren't buds that go in your ear. You also don't need to worry about them getting sweaty and wriggling out of your ears. The Bose Open Sport model doesn't have active noise canceling features, which many folks rely on for working in busy coffee shops and long flights without distractions. Bose says they've addressed this with microphones that are a little bit more beam forming and directional.  So it's a pretty simple concept, but the question is, is does it work?

 So there's a couple things going on here that I think are very important to note when it

 comes to whether they are going to be useful or not.

 So first things first is the fit, because you don't have any real leeway here.

 How they're going to fit the first time is pretty much how they're going to fit every

 The reason for that is because the design is rigid, so Bose didn't make these flexible.

 These aren't like the ear loops that you find in other earbuds that are rubberized or flexible

 or have some level of adjustment to them.

 You can't adjust it, you can't angle it, you can't bend it, none of that.

 So however it's going to fit, however they land sort of over your ear, that's it.

 So that plays a big factor in comfort, obviously, and to some degree also in music playback,

 although not as much as you would think, because again, this has nothing to do with how well

 It just has to do with where they land basically over your ear.

 And you don't really have much of an option in customization either.

 There is nothing on the Bose music app that you can really customize here.

 So however they sound, you can't really do anything about that.

 So yes, there are buttons on either side that do different things.

 So on the left, you press once, you can hear the battery level.

 If you hold down, then you'll get your voice assistant.

 On the right are all the playback controls.

 Play, pause, skip a track, repeat a track, answer a call, reject a call, those things.

 So everything's laid out and the app lays that out to you.
