Bosch MUM4405UC vs KitchenAid Pro 600 Series 6-Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer

Top speed is equivalent to low/medium on most mixers. I had $10 hand mixer from the dollar store that did a better job of whipping and beating than this does. It is very frustrating!!! The sad thing is, this could have been a great little mixer if they'd just given it more speed. Unfortunately I'm stuck with it for now and will use it for cookies and cakes but go back to my dollar store mixer for beating egg whites and icing

The KitchenAid has a slow-start protocol built in, so that when you turn it on (by advancing the speed lever - there is no on/off switch) it doesn't sent a puff of flour in the air or splash liquid out (unless you go immediately to high). The Kenmore I had apparently was engineer with a fast-start; I resorted to starting the Kenmore with the beaters up and then lowering them into the bowl when the mixer had gone to it's appropriate speed. Still, if I had a lot of flour in the bowl of the KitchenAid, I'd start with the bowl lowered, and slowly ight the bowl to reduce splatter, etc

While it does bounce a bit when mixing ingredients for my bread, but it doesn’t move from its position on the counter. I chose this mixer primarily for three reasons: it’s size and weight (perfect for a small kitchen), the Bosch brand (other reviewers were able to get replacement parts from this mixer to fix their OLD model!), and finally, the price was affordable. This mixer has so much going for it. I highly recommend it!!

Unless you put more than a pound of flour in, there's not enough ingredients for the dough hook to actually knead the dough. Even with the tool adjustment set all the way down, there's still room enough for my whole hand between the hook and the bottom of the bowl. So instead of an amazingly powerful "professional" machine I will be pleased about putting on my counter once a week and proud when it can make dozens of cookies at once, I got something too big for everyday use and not really good enough for professional use. The only consolation is that the cheaper brands aren't really good enough for even home use, so I've got that going for me

Between the jumping unit, the attachments falling out most of the time (even when creaming butter), and the inability to purchase the other attachments (the blender, the juicer, etc), in good conscience, I can't recommend this product. I just can't. I will be looking elsewhere for a stand mixer that will let me look away for a minute.

I've owned the classic for over 20 years and like that one more than this updated mixer. Power seems to slow down when adding ingredients after it's started. It's ok, but I like the classic which never left the gunk at the bottom of the bow. I'm trying to convince my son to give the classic back

I've kneaded some very stiff doughs in it as well with no issues. About the only issues I have is that it's loud. I don't know if it's louder than a mixer normally would be, but it'd be hard to have a conversation with it goin at full steam. This doesn't bother me at all, not with how well it performs otherwise

I like the fact that I can make cookies that require 6 cups of flour with no issues. But frankly it is very loud. I'm kinda wishing that I would have tried the bosch or even quisinart. If you can stand the noise this is a pretty good purchase
