Bosch DDS181-02 18-Volt vs Craftsman CMCD710C1

Looks like the next test for me will be Dewalt's 20V Max system. I really like the way this drill feels, its weight, the useful light placement, the overall feel. Sorry, Bosch: great design, excellent ergonomics, but the chuck? 'Fraid not, boys. Three stars for this drills great design and overall execution, but if the chuck isn't 'true', it's really not worth one star for true value as a craftsman's drill/driver

As it is, I am going to keep my Porter Cable for now. Even though the smell I get of burnt electrical brushes bothers me every time I use it. I hope this helps, I tried to evaluate this drill fairly. It is a good drill, but not as good as I expected as compared to my old 18Volt NiCad Drill

As an all-around drill, the power/weight/features are a very good compromise. Others have said that this isn't a "heavy-duty" cordless drill; true, but I didn't want the size and weight of a cordless beast. I have other (corded) drills (including hammer drills)for the heavy work. This Bosch is handy, powerful, and not tiring to use in the long-run

This drill feels superior, well made with a good and interchangeable battery. The weight is a little heavy, but it is well balanced between the drill head and battery. The grip is good, the LED light is a plus. Finally the product comes in a canvass bag that can easily hold the drill, the battery, the charger and still have room for drill bits and other items

In my mind, this has been a good thing, because there was room to put a small drill index, a quick-release chuck, and a couple of other items inside the case. That makes a grab-and-go repair easier.

The portability of the cordless drill made it easy to work with. Comes with a neat carry case to keep everything in. Great for DIY home repairs. My only con is that is it doesn't come with any bits

The only negative that I have is that I think they are a bit over priced, but if you have the last drill you will ever buy, the cost per year evens out. The torque, etc all seem good the batteries load easily, they charge fine compared with Craftsman and I think they provide a better functioning drill than Craftsman. I'm considering some more Bosch tools even though I have been a lifelong user of Craftsman.

As for the price, seems a tad high for what it is. You can get this same kind of "starter kit" from almost all the major brands for usually around $99. As one reviewer said, it does NOT come with a belt clip, which does seem odd, though I can't see knocking it down that much for that reason. But that's just me
