I would not buy a helmet on line.

 Modern helmets have got a lot of features, we're used to the BOA, we're so used to it that we hardly even talk about it anymore, but this one is great, it fits very well. Actually, the way that it comes onto your head is excellent. You can feel the, it's not padding, but you can feel the WaveCell construction. You can feel it on your head

 It's a Spectre. It is Australian standards approved. The WaveCell, this weave that you see, does give ventilation, there's no doubt about it, but it's not a lot. It does actually block a lot of air coming through, and on a hot day like today you start to feel it

 So you want it to be comfortable, as light as possible, and also offer the ventilation that you require for the climate that you ride in. It's my first ride with the new WaveCell. Trek's launched a new helmet, you've probably heard of it, it's the WaveCell technology. There's a whole range of shapes, there's mountain bike helmets, road helmets, street helmets, and colours and shapes and sizes and fastening devices, they all seem to have the BOA system on the back, but the key is this stuff in the middle

 One thing I'm going to remark on is the very fact that when I first took it out of the box, put it on my head, I thought, that's heavy. It's a little bit more than the helmet I'm accustomed to. Back to biking after a few decades, I researched bike helmets and ended up choosing this one was likely to offer excellent crash protection and be comfortable.  I hope not to test the first, and can attest to the latter.  It's been beastly hot recently and I was not at all conscious of this helmet adding to misery.  I found the strap adjustment to be a chore but I think I finally have it set right

Trek needs to review the shape and style of its helmets. I would like to see a sleeker look in a larger size helmet, in lieu of the typical mushroom shape. Very few Trek helmets are available in the XL size.

I would not buy this product again

Comfortable, stylish, cool (good venting) and great safety features.  I am 56cm so I got a Medium, fits great, definitely recommend!

We were so impressed with the Giro Fixture MIPS that it earned our Best Budget Helmet pick. Its deep fit, extremely adjustable harness system, and MIPS rotational impact system make it an excellent choice for comfort and protection. The MIPS system has a plastic insert that rotates inside the foam shell on impact to help absorb rotational forces. This is an affordable helmet with MIPS protection, so it stands out among budget-friendly helmets. We were impressed by the polished and thoughtful design, especially considering how much extra protection this helmet has. The polycarbonate outer liner won't separate from the EPS foam because they're fused together. The large visor kept the sun off our eyes, was flexible enough to survive a drop on the ground, and kept brush out of our faces on tight trails. This helmet also comes in a bunch of fun colors. 
We looked hard to find any flaws in the Fixture's design but couldn't find much. This isn't the least expensive helmet on the market, but we think it's worth the price. Some might find the non-adjustable, sewed ear splitter straps annoying, but we didn't find them problematic during testing. These straps provide ample room for most ear shapes and a range of various head sizes. The only other potential issue we found with this helmet is sizing. There are only two sizes available, the 54-61-centimeter "Universal Adult" size and the 58-65-centimeter "UXL" size. All of our testers could find a comfortable fit with the Universal Adult size no matter their head shape or size. However, we've seen universally sized helmets that don't work for everyone. This sleek all-around helmet works for all cycling, even though it is technically a mountain bike helmet.

I've cracked 3 helmets in the past decade or so (an older Bell that just about split in two, POC and Giro MIPS). I don't leave home to go on a bike ride without one.

 I can't count the number of times I have bees caught in my vents. If it wasn't for the netting a serious injury would have occurred. As you can read I am bugged about this.

I love the fit and style but to not have any netting in the vents to keep the bees out is a huge design flaw. I almost sent it back but decided to McGiver some screen netting in the front vents.  This helmet is great because your head fits down in it nicely. makes us big headed freaks look normal. Lightweight, breathes well, and looks swaggy!
