The Blizzard Zero G 105 is the best heavy-ish all-around backcountry ski we have used in recent years. It does everything very well, especially considering its weight. At 1500 grams, there are many lighter options on the market, but the ones we've tested ski more poorly than the Blizzard. Going the other direction, one must tack on a couple hundred grams of mass before matching or exceeding the ski performance of this award winner. 
Weight to performance ratio is the real and definitive measure of an all-around ski for human-powered use. In that matrix, this Blizzard shares the top of the heap. For a long time, we have picked two highest award winners; one super light and the other "normal" light. The Zero G 105 is the "normal light" award winner. The primary compromise in its performance is in firm snow. It doesn't grip quite as smoothly or confidently as we would like in an all-around ski. It does well enough, but this is the drawback we have to comment on.

 Super handy, nice little design for the skin so I highly recommend those. With the Zero Gs they do have of course a nice early rise in the tips. We've got some generous camber, moderate camber underfoot and in the tail we've got a slight up rise as well. So these are the Zero G 105s, I'm 180 pounds, I ski on the 188, 6 foot tall, 6 foot 1

 I've been skiing the 105s for two seasons now. I got a pre-production model and tested them for a year and then wrote the review and I've been skiing on them all this year as well. So the new thing with the Zero G skis is the carbon drive 2.0 construction

 So great and variable snow conditions. The Zero Gs also use a rounded 3D top edge design. So you can see that on the top edge here and that reportedly reduces the ski weight by about 15%. There is also a skin notch in the tip and also in the tail of the ski as you can see and you can buy pre-cut mocha skins

 We've got some generous camber, moderate camber underfoot and in the tail we've got a slight up rise as well. So these are the Zero G 105s, I'm 180 pounds, I ski on the 188, 6 foot tall, 6 foot 1. The 180 was a little small so I do find the 188 to be an ideal size for me. They do come in a 164, 172, 180 and 188 centimeter lengths

 I think it's just got a really, really smooth feel. The wingman's, all the wingman's, really, the way they transition from edge-to-edge and the way they link carving turns, it just, once you're in those turns, it pretty much feels effortless, which is, I give a lot of credit to the amphibio concept, the right and left ski.  Just the way that the edges work, your outside edge of your uphill ski and the inside edge of your downhill ski, those two things are different, but they work together really, really well. It feels very intuitive and natural. These CTI models, they're smooth, they're stable, they're damp. With metal and those carbon rods, they're actually really damp

 Woodcore, we get the classic reinforcement on the inside edge in this ski. We also get carbon rods, and we also get a single, they call it mono TI laminate, so wood, carbon, metal, lots of stuff going on in here. You get a right and left ski, so you get more rocker along the outside edge of the ski, more camber on the inside edge of the ski. That's also why this reinforcement is placed more on the inside edge than the outside edge

 So same build as the 86 in this ski. We get the Tubelight Wood Core. We get the Amphibio profile. So we have left and right skis here

 So don't go and click into the left ski with your right foot and vice versa, because it just won't be that much fun. And then we get carbon rods in these skis too. Those carbon rods are pretty unique to Elan, pretty important to their skis feel overall. Not just Wingman, Wingmen, I don't know, how do you say plural Wingmans, important for the RipStix too

 This is still a versatile ski. You can still take it off trail, but I do think at 82 underfoot, it feels more like a carving specific ski, or at least you should value carving probably more than anything else, which I suppose you could say about the 86, too, but maybe even just enhanced on this 82 CTI. Probably my favorite thing about these skis, and it comes through in our testing, pretty much all our testers pick up on this, is how energetic and responsive they are while still remaining smooth. And that's kind of enhanced by this 15
