We have a feet of trucks (12+) and the owner is looking to get dashcams in many of them. What we want is one with built in wifi that will connect to the shop network so we can view/copy the video files daily to weekly.  The wifi cameras I am finding only connect to a phone app one at a time.  


What we don't want to do is go to each truck and spend 20 minutes to manually copy the videos to a phone app X 12.  Also he doesn't need live data or want to pay $30 a month (X12) for cell data service.   


We don't care about storage space, we can get a 10TB drive cheap enough and rotate the videos once it fills up. Only option I have found is manually swapping out the memory cards weekly or as needed (customer complaints about a truck, etc) so he can go back and view that driver.  Then rotate them back again next week.

Dashcam recommendation

I've only had this camera (two cameras, I suppose, with the front and rear) installed for a couple of days now, so this review is primarily about the installation process and my experience getting it up and running, along with first impressions. If anything meaningful happens with it after this point, I'll update the review.  In terms of installation - I cheated. I made an appointment at and took the camera to Best Buy to have it professionally installed

99 to have it professionally installed, and I also wanted to be sure it was installed in a way that left no wires dangling around or visibly snaking through the car.  To make the installation process as simple as possible, I brought with me to Best Buy some spare automotive fuses, as well as two add-a-fuse/fuse tap devices I purchased separately (fuses are cheap, and fuse taps are also cheap at < $10 each). I made sure I had these to provide the installer because, as mentioned, I wanted the camera and Power Magic Pro plugged in to and integrated with the fuse panel, with no dangling or visible wires (which is what using the cigarette lighter/12V outlet would have involved).  Took Best Buy's/Geek Squads professional installers a couple of hours to fully install it (added bonus - installation warranty, and the install doesn't void the cars warranty)

 I made sure I had these to provide the installer because, as mentioned, I wanted the camera and Power Magic Pro plugged in to and integrated with the fuse panel, with no dangling or visible wires (which is what using the cigarette lighter/12V outlet would have involved). Great image quality; very easy to use so far!

This isnt my first blackvue camera i own, ive actually owned 3 including this one and the camera does an amazing job, the only thing im against is the fact that the type of SD card that’s included in the bundle isnt for this camera, it need a better wnd bigger memory for the camera to work without a problem. I had the camera turning on and off multiple times until i replaced the memory card with a bigger GB and better one made for surveillance cameras and the problem stopped.

 There was a original A129 Duo and then a single channel version actually. The difference between this and the A119, if you get the single channel version, the design is slightly different. It seems higher quality but it also has wi-fi so that's one benefit of this. With wi-fi there is an app you can use to view your files wirelessly and then you can save, transfer and save your video files to your phone wirelessly in case you need to save some sample footage

 So I hope this video was helpful for you guys. I'll provide links down in the description to my other viafo reviews give you a chance to see the video quality of those other models that I didn't directly compare because I don't have them all anymore other than the a119 v3. Again check down in the description to those video reviews. I'll provide affiliate links down in the description

 Now after the original A129 came out they released a Pro model and that one has 4k in the front and 1080p in the rear. So now this one is sort of an intermediate model between the original and the Pro 4k model but I think this might actually be replacing the original because I think the price is the same at 180 dollars. You can see here though this one has quad HD in the front and full HD in the rear. The original A129 was only full HD in the front and rear which is 1080p

0 sometime soon. So guys overall I think this is another good product from viafo. viafo is one of my three favorite dashcam companies. They're not the most high tech out there but they typically have some of the best video quality in their cameras and while they don't have as advanced parking mode features as BlackV or Thinkware they are typically much cheaper much more affordable and I would argue a good value for the price you pay for them too

 Vifo did reach out and send this to me for review so I'd like to thank them for reaching out to me. If you guys aren't aware, there are several A129 models and I got a lot of similar questions because there was the A119 originally and they're on version 3 of that, not including the Pro and G versions, but right now they're on the A119v3 and people constantly ask if there's a two channel version of that. That's basically what this A129 model is. Now this is actually the third version of the A129 also

So it's quite likely to represent a better value proposition, and that's what I'll be looking at in this video. But if you don't want to spend that much money, then down where we are with this camera, I'd say it's fairly hard to beat

 Now in my car, the rear window is not ideal for a rear camera because the rear window in my car, you can probably see that is half tinted. So half of it is white, half of it is black, and it's kind of slanted in a weird way. So definitely not the best rear window for a rear camera. So of course this will depend on from car to car because all cars are different

VIOFO A129 Plus Duo Premium Dash Camera Review & Sample Recordings

I can vouch that Viofo A129 Plus Duo works great in high heat. Mine bakes in the sun all day outdoor parking in the central valley when I'm there for work and it has zero recording issues. Duo, Plus Duo, and Pro Duo are respectively 1080p, 2k, and 4k resolution for the front camera; rear is always 1080p.

With a zillion on the market, I’m hoping this group will help me find just the right cam. My requirements:

• 1080 or better resolution
• front and rear cameras
• be able to remove front camera
• tolerates southern CA heat
• under $150

Bonus if I can mount it to a bar at the base of the windshield, since a Jeep doesn’t have the typical headliner that would allow me to tuck/hide a wire under it.

Help selecting the right dashcam.

 Negative was this placement calls for a much smaller cable which through me for an another challenge.  Turns out, a mini usb to mini usb that is 5in and is MEANT FOR THIS JOB is impossible to find. BEWARE, you may find a mini usb to mini usb cable that is small, but most likely won’t work because it isn’t configured to connect a camera to another camera. Viofo makes a “shorter” cable but is still way too long for my job

 Then go to the time zone settings and appropriately select the time zone. In my case, the camera defaulted 6 hours faster than my actual time. I then went to time zone settings and selected GMT-6 and the problem was solved. Syncing with the cell phone is only temporary unless the time zone is correct
