I have a Black Diamond Spot 350. Three LEDs: flood, spot light and red flood. All three have adjustable brightness. It takes three AAA batteries and costs $30

I've looked into some but the lumen numbers scare me. Don't get me wrong I love a huge output, but I don't want to be impossible to look at / blind oncoming cars / blind myself if I'm working on my car at night. Can anyone with experience let me know if this is an issue and any recommendations? Thank you!

Interested in a headlamp but don't want to blind fellow night walkers

Review of BD Storm 350 headlamp.  Bright and comfortable to wear for extended time.  Standard light and dimming control is very user-friendly.  Control of red/green/blue light is much less friendly

 Will be able to lead the hike in darkest conditions.  Have not reached the limit of the four AAA batteries, but would recommend having a second set of batteries for extended use.

  The controls are very natural. Just read the instructions and you’ll be fine. The battery life is great. Just don’t leave it at full power constantly

 Which brings me to my favorite function, the instant full power button. That with memory feature are why I am so glad I upgraded to this model over a slightly cheaper model. Very convenient.

They do give you your batteries this runs off three triple A's I like triple a headlamp some torches. it's just so simple just just coming up at trees for it

 So straight away that's separate from the main light which is something I really liked I can kind of turn that off and all and gives you red lights. It does come with a red flash if you want it and then off. If you kind of leave it on like they're kind of give it a few seconds you can then just turn it straight off.  I want something better than a crappy $5. The nicest one I ever had was REI and I think it was like almost $100, but that was a gift. I really can't justify spending more than $40 or something, especially because these are easy to lose and while the more expensive ones are definitely better, like, how much better can they actually be?  Here's what I like about this one: I like that there are separate buttons for red and white light. Some headlamps make you go through white lights before you get to red, which makes no sense, especially if you're using red to keep from messing up your night vision

  In summary I'd say the sudden shutoff is pretty annoying, but for the price, it's a satisfactory product and the 2 separate buttons, that *don't* turn on in your bag, is something I really appreciate in a headlamp.

Mostly good headlamp for the price

 The red LED setting is very bright compared to its peer headlamps and the fact that it has an independent switch for on/off is amazing -- I never understood why manufacturers would put a red LED option to preserve your night vision yet force you to toggle through the white light settings before you could get to the red setting. It has a high quality head band fabricated from elastic and nylon vs. the frizzy cotton or cheap nylon that appears to be so popular with the competition. I gave it four stars simply because the access to the battery compartment is a compression fitting vs
