I have a Black Diamond Spot 350. Three LEDs: flood, spot light and red flood. All three have adjustable brightness. It takes three AAA batteries and costs $30

I've looked into some but the lumen numbers scare me. Don't get me wrong I love a huge output, but I don't want to be impossible to look at / blind oncoming cars / blind myself if I'm working on my car at night. Can anyone with experience let me know if this is an issue and any recommendations? Thank you!

Interested in a headlamp but don't want to blind fellow night walkers

Review of BD Storm 350 headlamp.  Bright and comfortable to wear for extended time.  Standard light and dimming control is very user-friendly.  Control of red/green/blue light is much less friendly

 Will be able to lead the hike in darkest conditions.  Have not reached the limit of the four AAA batteries, but would recommend having a second set of batteries for extended use.

  The controls are very natural. Just read the instructions and you’ll be fine. The battery life is great. Just don’t leave it at full power constantly

 Which brings me to my favorite function, the instant full power button. That with memory feature are why I am so glad I upgraded to this model over a slightly cheaper model. Very convenient.

I’m a very happy (not) camper.

Feeling pretty excited to see what the Spot 350 could do, I start hitting the top button and "toggle" through the settings:

Let me preface by saying I got this headlamp a couple weekends ago right before a camping trip to Dutch John. 

-Red light: I was really pleased with this feature, as it worked well with a lot of bugs around. I feel like some red lights I've used before weren't powerful enough to see beyond your hand, but this did the trick.

The Spot is Hot

I recently purchased this because I lost my old Black Diamond COSMO headlight. Overall, I am really pleased with this one. Black Diamond's update to their headlight series has made them much easier to use. The second button, plus the Power Tap and battery meter are great additions
