 One of the druthers I have is that there's not a whole lot of support but what I've found out is that the inserts actually do come out so if you need a little bit more support with your shoes you can remove those and buy some good inserts to give your foot more support. As you're hiking through the boulder fields. The other thing is my feet got a little bit cold when the temperatures were below 40 degrees and that could just be me but even hiking in with some thick socks my feet were a little cold but above 40 degrees really not a lot of issues. I know the material is supposed to be pretty breathable so for those spring or early fall boulder sessions it is kind of nice to make sure your foot is going to be breathing and not having a whole lot of sweat smell build up in there

REVIEW: Black Diamond Session Approach Shoe

The lighter cousin of the TX3, the TX2 is a lightweight approach shoe that stows easily. Enhanced support and sticky rubber keep you sure-footed in the mountains, while the one-piece knit uppers optimize drainage and breathability. C2 ComboCord loops around the heel platform to allow easy pairing and storage on a harness or in a pack.

Our favorite approach shoe is the La Sportiva TX2. It's very similar to the burlier TX4, but through our test period, we discovered that this shoe is much more than just a lighter version of the TX4. These shoes weigh a mere 20 ounces per pair, plus they have a unique elastic cord system to secure the shoes together into a compact package when clipped to a climbing harness. The breathable knit uppers kept our feet cool on long hikes, and the precise lacing system allows us to crank down the laces to the end of the toe for a snug and secure fit when the going gets technical. The toe has a low profile, and we could even use them in red camalot-sized cracks. 
These shoes aren't as supportive as the TX4s, so you'll want a more supportive model for multi-day expedition-sized trips. This shoe climbs like a dream, thanks to its thin and sensitive sole, precise toe box fit, and rubber toe cap. These shoes are one step away from being declared full-blown climbing shoes. They are one of the lightest models on the market, and have a thoughtful elastic cord on each heel that can wrap around the nestled pair to create a tight package for hanging on the harness or stuffing into a pack for carrying up a multi-pitch route. If you climb in a venue where short approaches lead to long and difficult routes with tricky walk-off descents, these shoes are unbeatable.
Of course, many features were eliminated to produce such a lightweight shoe. The midsole contains very little padding, so long hikes aren't very comfortable in th TX2 Evo. The upper is a light knit fabric that doesn't provide much support, and this material is also susceptible to wear and tear. If you need a shoe for rugged approaches and lots of standing in aiders, these shoes aren't the right choice. But if you want to move light and fast, and need a shoe that can accompany you up big routes without weighing you down, these shoes are perfect.

I ordered another TX3 in 10.0 and feel more like a climbing shoe, now (tight, all around, but not painful).

I ordered the 10.5 (EU43.5), as most reviews seemed to say to half-size up if you were going to do a lot of trail and half-size down if you were going to do a lot of technical climbing.

I do the bulk of my climbing during the summer, so I was looking for the breathability of a mesh shoe.

Need Narrow Feet

Comfort is most important. Comfortable boots will let you enjoy your hikes and get you out there more often. Try on several brands, styles, and models. As for brands, I would recommend LA Sportiva,  Merrell, Keen, Salomon,  Vasque, and Asolo

Suggestions for hiking boots

2. Their laces are junk! After a day or two they started to wear and after 2 weeks they completely tore.

Great shoes, love them! But the laces are garbage!

Also, La Sportiva sizing is frustratingly inconsistent. I'm a 13 US street shoe, this shoe in a 47 (13 US) is both too short and too tight. Compared to a TX3 which fits just right in a 47, and a TC Pro which fits in a 45.5

But for just slightly more weight the TX3 was far more comfortable, is a bit stiffer and has more cushioning and a much better fit for hiking. I think that is a much better choice if you just want a single approach shoe. After trying both on I immediately knew the TX3 was the best choice for me.

  There isn't much difference between this and a casual climbing shoe besides cushioning.  The company is obviously a climbing shoe company but it was my mistake to think that their approach shoes are hiking shoes would be sized a little more generously.  The midfoot forefoot area design might only work for large feet. Like I'm thinking 10 and more

Leave it to the Italians to to make a climbing shoe advertised as a hiking shoe. Man these are small and tight. Really it's the trouble of what an approach shoe is. 

 But I'm not as sure designer.  I'm sure this shoe is great for short approaches and long technical scrambles. But I don't think these would ever break in in a comfortable way for me to trust on a moderate hike.  Unless you do technical scrambles every weekend or more I would avoid this shoe

 Lightweight. Good toe protection. Not too much structure/not flimsy. They dry pretty fast and and the grip is excellent
