I tried on a L that a friend had and it did fit well. So my tip would be to size down one full size. The cut is definitely not a an athletic type cup, very roomy.

This is a very high quality jacket but it is pretty long in the torso and sleeves if you are under 5'7" or so. I bought a small for my daughter but had to return it as it was much too long for her 5'5" frame. If the sizing was better for an average sized female I would have given it a five.
