 There isn’t much arch support so I swapped the insole for one with more support. These shoes are quite narrow and probably wouldn’t work well for wider feet. One thing that disappointed me was that the construction seems so so. In certain parts you can see the glue and it looks like the rubber doesn’t quite line up

 PS, sizing is pretty spot on, but they are sized to fit a bit more snug than most sneakers so if you plan on wearing them casually, you might want to size up a half size.

Holy cow, these are comfy!

These shoes are not supportive and rubber is excessively "sticky" yet provides no grip. I wear these shoes almost daily and they are falling apart after just 5 months. Holes are developing where the rubber toes join the soft top materials. The foam sole of the shoe is getting "picked" and rough from light contact with other surfaces

Sticky rubber is a requirement for approach shoes and Black Diamond delivers with the Circuit. Their proprietary Black Label-Street rubber proved tacky on granite and limestone which bolstered confidence on well-worn slabs. The rubber rand around the forefoot helped mitigate both abrasions and impacts.

The fit is tighter than a casual shoe, but not as form-fitting as a true approach shoe. The fit felt appropriate for getting to my local sport crags which aren’t in mountainous regions. I would want a tighter fit for more involved treks. I found the amount of snugness the perfect compromise between performance and comfort for a lifestyle-oriented shoe that can still travel to the cliffs

The outsole knobs are short; this meant limited traction on loose over hardpacked terrain, but the tradeoff was less squirm on stone. The outsole has a solid perimeter around the forefoot, which usually adds to edging ability, but the softness of the shoe hampered this on anything other than large features.

As a casual, in town shoe, I found the Circuit to be super comfortable as I prefer flexible and light shoes when not loaded with gear; these shoes were supple right out of the box and they have a verified weight of 1 pound, 2 ounces per pair in a men’s size 10.

 I originally ordered them in an 8 and they were way too small with a hiking sock on. Based on how small the 8 was I sized up to a 9. I wanted to have the option so wear a slightly thicker sock with them and the 9 was the right choice even though I was hesitant to go up a whole size from what I wear in some shoes. I ordered another TX3 in 10.0 and feel more like a climbing shoe, now (tight, all around, but not painful).

I ordered the 10.5 (EU43.5), as most reviews seemed to say to half-size up if you were going to do a lot of trail and half-size down if you were going to do a lot of technical climbing.

I do the bulk of my climbing during the summer, so I was looking for the breathability of a mesh shoe.

Need Narrow Feet

Comfort is most important. Comfortable boots will let you enjoy your hikes and get you out there more often. Try on several brands, styles, and models. As for brands, I would recommend LA Sportiva,  Merrell, Keen, Salomon,  Vasque, and Asolo

I am a complete beginner. I have done a few hikes with running shoes. It's Black Friday so I suppose this might be a good time for getting some hiking shoes. Please suggest me something available in the US.

2. Their laces are junk! After a day or two they started to wear and after 2 weeks they completely tore.

Great shoes, love them! But the laces are garbage!

Also, La Sportiva sizing is frustratingly inconsistent. I'm a 13 US street shoe, this shoe in a 47 (13 US) is both too short and too tight. Compared to a TX3 which fits just right in a 47, and a TC Pro which fits in a 45.5

But for just slightly more weight the TX3 was far more comfortable, is a bit stiffer and has more cushioning and a much better fit for hiking. I think that is a much better choice if you just want a single approach shoe. After trying both on I immediately knew the TX3 was the best choice for me.

Lightweight, but not that comfortable

  There isn't much difference between this and a casual climbing shoe besides cushioning.  The company is obviously a climbing shoe company but it was my mistake to think that their approach shoes are hiking shoes would be sized a little more generously.  The midfoot forefoot area design might only work for large feet. Like I'm thinking 10 and more

Leave it to the Italians to to make a climbing shoe advertised as a hiking shoe. Man these are small and tight. Really it's the trouble of what an approach shoe is. 

 But I'm not as sure designer.  I'm sure this shoe is great for short approaches and long technical scrambles. But I don't think these would ever break in in a comfortable way for me to trust on a moderate hike.  Unless you do technical scrambles every weekend or more I would avoid this shoe

 Lightweight. Good toe protection. Not too much structure/not flimsy. They dry pretty fast and and the grip is excellent
