I could only conclude that the carafe was fine and the coffee brewing temp was no where near the 200 it needs to be. I tested it with two different instant probes straight from the water sprayer as it was brewing and saw an average reading of 187 degrees

 I bought another very popular brand (Japanese warrior) with a burner plate. That one only brews at 192 but keeps it drinkable at 140 for the hour I need.

 This might be fine for some people for the first cup, but not hot enough to make good coffee, and definitely not hot enough to keep in the carafe for the hour I needed. I gave it to a family member who only brews 4 cups at a time and drinks it immediately after brewing. I bought another very popular brand (Japanese warrior) with a burner plate.  It goes towards the red brew head. If you don't get it in there quite right, you won't be able to close the lid, so you have to make sure there's a big detent see how that kind of sticks out and there's a pot spot for it right there. Nothing else goes down in there and there's where it goes so now they say this is not dishwasher safe. You got to clean this by hand, so they call this the paws brewing

So when you've got your coffee pot in there, it's pressing up on that plunger letting and when you press up on that plunger, it allows the coffee to come out of the filter basket and when the when the coffee pot is removed, it it stops it. Now you have to put a filter in here and that's where you put your coffee grounds, but when they're cleaning it sometimes that little rubber washer comes off and that plunger in the bottom comes off and they don't know how it goes back together. I've now been living with this coffee maker and using it daily for two months, so I think I can fairly review it. First of all, I bought this to replace a Mister Coffee unit that was about half the price, but which had failed three times in a year. This Black and Decker unit is miles ahead of that, and it makes great and flavorful coffee in about half the time of the Mister Coffee. In this case the old saying "You get what you pay for" is true

Okay, so i've got the water. It can be a little hard, but we're gon na use the the glass or the view on the front to see how much water we've added okay so see

 So again, it's a basket style you're, just gon na put it in here kind of push it down, make sure it's hugging the wall, we're gon na put our coffee grounds right there in the middle okay. Before we begin, i want to talk about this. This is the brew basket. You always have to have this in there now there's a little there's a little plastic washer down there

 It'S just. This is noticeably a longer brew. Okay, so it's finally finishing up the the strong brew that took 20 minutes. So that's an extremely long brew: let's see how it tastes to do a temperature check so yeah about 170 - maybe just a little 172, 173
