I’m considering a GS2 and want to have a little movie night for my next “glamping” trip. 720p should be enough, and projector size needs to be easy to carry and not heavy so it’ll fit in my van. Also, I don’t want to break the bank. 

One thing I’m thinking is the sound as I would like to have a movie night with good audio. Some of my friends told me that I should get a good Bluetooth speaker for portable projectors to compensate for the weak sound. Really don’t want sound to mess up the movie night, so any advice for a good Bluetooth speaker? I am thinking getting a speaker for around 200 bucks. Anyone has a GS2? Many thanks.

Bluetooth speaker for GS2 advice

The BenQ GS2 comes out of the box looking so well designed that you might be fooled into thinking it's a better projector than it is. The metallic front panel, rubberized beige case with rounded edges, built-in tiltable base, and top-quality fit and finish all proclaim careful craftsmanship. It lives up to that first impression in many ways, but it drops the ball in others, most notably with underpowered audio and limited built-in streaming functionality. Listing for $699 and widely available for $599 or less at this writing, it's well worth a look, especially if you need an outdoor projector that can withstand a bit of drizzle, but be sure to compare it to the directly competitive and Editors' Choice&ndash;winning Anker Nebula Mars II Pro

The BenQ GS2 combines thoughtful design with solid craftsmanship, including welcome touches such as the magnetic connector for the power cord and an eye-protection setting that will turn off the light if a curious toddler or pet gets too close to the lens. If you want some assurance that your projector can survive a little unexpected rain or the shock from a short drop, the sturdy GS2 is worth a look. However, it also misses the mark in some significant ways, particularly with regard to audio volume and built-in streaming. The onboard twin 2W chamber speakers delivered good sound quality in my tests. You can also connect to a Bluetooth speaker, but there's no sync adjustment in the projector, so you might wind up with the audio and video out of sync. 

BenQ GS2 Review

The port cover was one of the first things that looked less than ideal. It&rsquo;s made of a rubberised material that BenQ covered the GS2 to make it &lsquo;splash proof&rsquo;. Loosely connected by a single strap at one end, this looks designed to be the first item to get detached and lost from this hardware.

The shape chosen by BenQ for the GS2 is technically a heavily filleted Frustrum square pyramid, but most would describe it as a rounded cube.

The UK price on Amazon of the BenQ GS2 is &pound;549, and on the US-based Amazon.com, that translates into $599. It may be possible to find it cheaper elsewhere, but we didn&rsquo;t see that bargain.

Portable projector designs are much less predictable than their home and office counterparts, as there seems little consensus on what form factors work or not.

  -Remote control isn't powerful.. from about 10 feet away, you can barely use it. The manual says the range is about 8 feet, which is pretty close

 Couldn't get my phone to mirror/stream a video to the device either.  We've also got an audio out and then a reset button in there and then on the bottom is going to be the stand. So we have a quarter 20 mount down here if you want to mount this to something. And then we've also got a tilting stand here so you can tilt this thing up and down. So now that you've seen the projector and what comes in the box, let's start testing this guy out

 This is just so great to have it be wireless. Take this wherever I need to go. I don't need to worry about cables. I can also add additional speakers on it wirelessly

 so I can connect my phone to this projector and use it as a portable speaker too. Now it is Ipx 2 rated, which means that it's splash proof. You can't really get it too wet drop proof up to a foot and a half. We've got auto keystoning, meaning it's going to adjust itself, which is fantastic

 Here, we've got the projector. We've got a wireless dongle, power cable so the other end of the power cable, and then we've also got the remote right here. Here is what the projector looks like. We've got all the buttons on the top, the sensor for picking up the remote so that's actually going to be on the front and on the top here

So, I bought a cheap ViewSonic M1 Mini for summer days at my mothers cottage. I knew it  was pretty crappy specwise but thought it was worth a chance being so inexpensive. Well, the reviews were pretty correct. In any sort of daylight this thing is useless. But! As soon as the sun is down and you lower all lights its amazingly cinematic in feeling. I actually like the fuzzines of the 480 resolution, especially with older material. It felt like cinema did when I was a kid, and I love it!

So, I've got the projector bug now and looking to maybe replace my tv with something a bit more advanced than my tiny M1 Mini. And here's the rub. Will a HD projector (mind you 1080, not going near 4K) still feel "cinematic" for lack of a better word. Or just more lika a very big TV with worse daylight capabilities? For instance I'm looking at the M2 for this purpose, but not sure how it will "feel".

Any experiences?

HD Projector Still Cinematic in Feel?

I have the viewsonic one. I think it’s a solid monitor, especially at the price it is. I came from 1080p 144hz and the upgrade was quite noticeable. Imo the ips panel is very worth it, it just looks so much better than my old screen

So I'm looking to complete my new PC build with a 1440p monitor. 

To highlight, my main criteria includes 1440p, 144hz Refresh rate, minimal ghosting (1ms response).

I'm currently sitting on a very mediocre 75hz 1080p monitor which has... 'issues' let's say (It seems to think that white is grey).

I've been looking on youtube etc and found a couple of models that seem of interest and wondered if anyone could help me to understand whether its worth spending that bit more or holding on to it..

1) Aoc Gaming Cq27g2u - This is my budget option at around £260. I've heard that there can be a significant amount of ghosting using this screen but wanted someone to help confirm if this is actually an issue or not. I know it's a VA panel as well which again has it's own limitations. 

2) ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD - Slightly more expensive IPS panel at around £330. Is the move to IPS worth the extra money? It's also very difficult to actually find this monitor anywhere.. Currys b2b seems to be the only viable method and that brings about its own risk assessment!

3) LG Ultragear 27GL83A-B - This is the premium choice, but at over £400 its a huge investment.. is it worth it? Are there are any other choices in-between this and the ViewSonic which may be a good fit?

1440p 144hz on a budget - which to choose?

 Doesn't work either way. My computer recognizes it as a device but can't project to it.  Maybe I am doing something wrong but after several hours of trying different settings it doesn't seem to do the one thing I bought it for. I did contact Viewsonic customer service a week ago but have received ZERO from them

No screen mirroring . .

 The projector has 4 settings for the battery usage. In Full mode, the light is bright but you will only get about 2 hours out of the battery. On Eco mode you can get over 5, but the light looks dim. We have found that Extended Eco gives us about 4 hours of playing time, but the picture still is quite bright

We have a remote, off the grid yurt and we wanted to be able to watch movies with a battery powered projector. I looked at a lot of them and chose this one based on battery length. The projector has 4 settings for the battery usage. In Full mode, the light is bright but you will only get about 2 hours out of the battery
