I'm using a benq ew3270u. It's a 32" 4k monitor mounting a va panel produced by innolux. For me it works much better than IPS panels, I think because of the higher contrast ratio.

I need a large monitor for work that I can also minimize eye strain.

I would like the size to be larger than 30”. I’d like the price to be $300 max, mostly because I’d like to buy two and place them side by side. My preferred budget is $500 total, but i can stretch it to $700 or so if necessary.

I’d really appreciate if you could give me any recommendations.

PS is it frowned upon to use a TV as a computer monitor? I’m only concerned about eye strain.

Large cheap monitor

  If you are mostly using this at TV distances, I'd recommend it for use in darker rooms due to the low peak brightness. It's got very good color range and contrast if you are far enough away to stay in the viewing angle sweet spot. 10-bit color isn't needed for most uses. HDR is pretty useless here but it does technically work if you override the EDID color depth and don't expect accurate brightness representation (no LCD can do this without full array local dimming and this monitor is uniformly backlit)

10-bit is misleading

 Now you might be wondering how does this panel actually do when it comes to putting it to a calibrator. Well put on the sRGB mode and put through an i1 display pro calibrator, it hits 94.4% of the gamut coverage at 97.6% of the gamut volume, in other words it really is tailored to the sRGB standard

 You also want to bear in mind that you want this to fit in your desk space as you can see, it's pretty much just cut off at the top of my IKEA Freddy desk so just bear that in mind. Other than that, the build quality in terms of design wise looks pretty nice, the bezels are slightly chunky where the actual panel itself is behind the bezels so it just looks a little bit chunkier than it should be, I would have preferred a three sided borderless design but other than that the finish of it is quite nice and as I said before it's made out of plastic so it could be a little bit better. At the bottom over here you've got the BI plus sensor which is BenQ's way of adjusting the colour temperature depending on the time of day. This is quite useful if you want to reduce ice drain, not something I personally use but nevertheless always useful to have if you're sensitive to different sort of blue and light emissions

 Now, aside from all of that, let's cut the spec sheet talk for a moment and just discuss my general experience of using this monitor, particularly from a content creator's perspective. Firstly, I love using a monitor that is 4K in resolution. I know this might seem a little bit outdated and lots of you are probably already using 4K monitors, but up until this point, I've just been using either full HD or UHD monitors and I've never really had much of an issue with them. But now, ever since using this 4K panel for an extended period of time, I just cannot overstate how nice it is to see my 4K footage in its true resolution

 Of course you can always lower the resolution of the game for better gameplay, but it won't look anywhere near as sharp. The maximum refresh rate of the monitor is 60Hz, which compared to some gaming monitors that go up to 144Hz seems low. If you're looking for the best 27-inch monitor and are on a budget, consider the Dell S2721QS. Despite being a lower-end model from the Dell S2722QC and maintaining the high 4k resolution, it still costs less than the Gigabyte M27Q, making it a good budget choice if you need something for productivity. However, there are a few features you have to sacrifice for getting a cheaper model, as this one doesn't have any USB ports like on the Gigabyte or the S2722QC, meaning it's a rather basic monitor that provides a high resolution with fantastic text clarity.

If you don't need all the extra features of the more expensive options, you'll still be happy with this monitor, particularly with work use. Its wide viewing angles ensure the image remains accurate from the sides, and with impressive ergonomics, it's easy to adjust to an ideal viewing position. It also gets bright enough to fight glare and has good reflection handling, making it a good choice for well-lit rooms.

If you want something on a budget, there are a few great options for the office that won't cost you much. The Dell S2721QS is one of those monitors as it's a low-cost 4k display that's a step down from the Dell S2722QC in terms of features but still offers excellent office performance. Not many 4k monitors are available at a budget price like this one; the advantage of getting a 4k display over other budget 1440p monitors is that you get much sharper text due to the increased pixel density.

If you're looking for the best budget 4k monitor, they're becoming more accessible, and you can still find 4k displays for a cheaper cost. Most of the monitors in this price range are basic 4k displays geared toward office use and are meant for people who want the extra text clarity of a 4k monitor. That's the case with the Dell S2721QS, which is a simplified version of the Dell S2722QC that costs less. You don't get any USB ports, which is disappointing if you want to connect a laptop that doesn't have an HDMI port, but that's normal in this price range.

Despite the lack of extra features, the picture quality is very good and similar to the S2722QC. It has the same great peak brightness and good reflection handling, and while it doesn't have a dedicated sRGB mode either, the accuracy before calibration is still decent. It's well-built and features the same ergonomic stand as the S2722QC, so choosing one over the other comes down to if you need the USB hub or simply want to save some money.

If you're looking for the best monitor for watching movies on a budget, then look into the Dell S2721QS. It's a smaller display than the Dell S3221QS and has a different panel type with a few differences, but considering it's a low-cost 4k display that's good for media consumption, it provides good value for its cost. It has lower contrast than the S3221QS, so it doesn't look as good in dark rooms because blacks look gray, but that's the trade-off of getting a cheaper monitor. If you're on a budget and want something that won't break the bank for gaming on the Xbox One X, then look into the Dell S2721QS. By looking for budget-friendly displays, you won't get the same gaming features on higher-end models, like the fast refresh rate, but since that's targeted more at PC gamers, you don't need that for console gaming anyways. This monitor has a lower 60Hz refresh rate, so you can only play games up to 60 fps compared to the ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQ, but the main advantage is that it has a high 4k resolution. It allows you to play games with sharp images and see more detail than on lower-resolution displays.

Although this monitor isn't designed for gaming, it still offers decent gaming performance with low input lag for a responsive feel and an okay response time that makes fast-moving objects look decent, but there's still some blur trail. It has decent accuracy before calibration and an outstanding SDR color gamut, so it's also a good choice for content creators working on a budget. However, as it's a budget-friendly display, it's limited in features because it doesn't have a USB hub like the Gigabyte, so if you want that, you'll have to spend more with the Dell S2722QC, or you'll have to get a 1440p budget monitor like the Gigabyte M27Q. Still, if you don't need those extra features, you'll be happy with the sharp text that this monitor delivers.

Most 4k gaming monitors tend to cost more than regular 4k monitors, so if you want one, you'll have to be prepared to spend some money. However, if you're on a tight budget and want a basic 4k monitor for console gaming, you can get something like the Dell S2721QS. Although it's designed for the office, it still provides decent gaming performance at a low cost, and it's good enough for playing 4k games up to 60 fps from the PS5 or Xbox Series X. However, because it doesn't support HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, you can't take full advantage of the consoles, so you'll need to spend more on the Gigabyte M28U if you want that.

It's uncommon to find a 4k monitor at a budget-friendly price, which is why the S2721QS is a good choice, as you get a high resolution for a low cost. The 4k resolution helps result in sharp text, which makes it ideal for productivity as you won't have any issues reading text, and the 27-inch screen is big enough to open two windows side-by-side. Despite its budget price, it's a well-built monitor with impressive ergonomics, making it easy to place in an ideal position.

It's a good choice to use in a well-lit room thanks to its high SDR peak brightness and very good reflection handling, meaning you won't have any issues with visibility. It also has wide viewing angles that make the image remain consistent from the sides. There are a few downsides, though, as it's limited to a 60Hz refresh rate, so it isn't the best for PC gaming. For movies bigger is better, and higher resolution is better... I won’t stick to a 27” if I were you

So I got my first custom pc set up, and want to get a 2nd display for my wife to watch movies by my side. But couldn't find much infos on just which Display to get. I would prefer it to be an Asus one as my primary display is Asus vg27aq, which is a 1440p 144z display. I kinda like them to be the same in terms of aesthetic? 

I have read that getting dual monitors with different resolution and refresh rate will be a pain in the ass to get it working properly for simultaneous gaming on 1 and watching media on the other, is it still true currently?



Here are a few things I look for in the 2nd monitor 

• prefer VA panel, as it's best for multimedia consumption?

There are only 2 models in found online, which is the Asus vg278q, but this is an ips panel with 1080p and 144hz. The other is Asus va27ehe which is also an ips panel with 1080p but 75hz. Both in terms of aesthetic, they both look very close to my current vg27aq, but specs wise not what I would like. 

Any recommendations? For reference I have a 3070 card. Thanks.

There are only 2 models in found online, which is the Asus vg278q, but this is an ips panel with 1080p and 144hz. The other is Asus va27ehe which is also an ips panel with 1080p but 75hz. Both in terms of aesthetic, they both look very close to my current vg27aq, but specs wise not what I would like. 

Any recommendations? It doesn&#39;t have to be Asus, I can settle for other brands. For reference I have a 3070 card. Thanks.

Having a hard time finding 2nd monitor

* Asus  PA278QV (also too big and bit expensive but for now probably I would go  with this one and try to come up with something to fit it on my desk)   

* Gigabyte M27Q (too big and has problems with vertical scan lines with low refresh rates)
