  Personally, I can’t recommend spending this much on a knife that feels this cheap. Hopefully future editions will remedy it without users voiding warranties.  In any case, until I can get black scales in aluminum or titanium, this is a hard pass for me, and the knife is reduced to being just “okay” when it could’ve been great. I’ll stick to my Benchmade Nimravus, Crooked River, and Anthem until something worthwhile happens

 For the price, it does not feel like a premium knife at all.  I think if they sacrificed a bit of weight reduction, and gave the knife G10 scales it would have been a triumph. But instead it leaves something to be desired. For some, after-market scales will remedy it

 In that case Rockscale Design has titanium scales in grey, Rogue Bladeworks has scales in carbon fiber (black) and will be releasing titanium (grey) shortly, Blade Scales has them in G10 (various colors) and Canvas Micarta (green) but the grooved design might be undesirable and only the G10 is in black. Please note, adding after-market scales will void your warranty.  Personally, I can’t recommend spending this much on a knife that feels this cheap. Hopefully future editions will remedy it without users voiding warranties

Light On Weight, But Heavy On The Pass

- Benchmade Bailout: I love the slim, lightweight design. Love the green and grey color combo. Hate the glass breaker. Just seems like one of those "hey look at this feature we added even though you didn't ask for it and don't need it!" features

5" molded into the middle of the handle completely puts me off. I get that they need to differentiate between the budget stuff and the higher end offerings, but damn, that oval is just so bad looking on an otherwise good looking knife.

Overly picky opinions: What's a knife you would love to own if not for that one. little. thing.

 With the liners being so short all the stress goes into the handles and this is my big concern when using it hard EDC.  I do really like the looks and hopefully it will fulfill my normal EDC.

Cool blade design and good steel but didn’t come very sharp which isn’t the end of the world but the scales are what ruin it the plastic at first seems to make sense it bends but seems durable. However the bending leads to the problem of when it Bends the screws pop out I have been edc’ing the knife for a month and have already had 4 screws fall out the last of which completely ended the structural integrity of the knife, I have ordered new custom titanium scales and screws from rock scales design ( not on Amazon) to make up for this costing another almost 200$.

 Then I flexed the knife while open and saw how much it flexes. It isn’t the blade that flexes but the plastic where the pivot point is. I’d rather have a cheaper steel and know the whole knife can last. I returned it for a Benchmade 940-1 Osborne with full Aluminum handle and S30V blade

Great knife; a pocket-sized (and weighted) 110

 1) small in size as mentioned above ( but still large enough for reasonable use) 2) light weight 3) very slim profile 4) not "tactical" looking 5) US made This turns out to be harder than one might imagine. Knives tend to be too large, or too military looking for polite use, or most dreadfully made "offshore". Enter the "55". I have long been a fan of buck knives and have a deep respect for the fact that they manage to produce a high quality product in the US while keeping their prices very reasonable

 The good news is that the knife arrived and fits my parameters perfectly; it is small, light, handsome with brass bolsters and polished rose wood scales, but alas the blade was completely dull. I am not a stickler for the sharpness of a knife when it arrives, as I have high standards for sharpness and also understand that you need to be willing to work with a blade over its life. However the 55 that I receive appeared unfinished, the blade seems to have received the the first shaping grind, but none of the subsequent polishing or sharpening grinds, I had to work for 20 minutes on a grinding stone to get the primary bevel in place and another 10 minutes of work before it would cut paper. Once that happened the knife was perfect, I was just a bit surprised and disappointed that this one snuck out the door of the buck factory essentially as an unfinished item

 Like it's big brother, the 55 is superb workmanship, and incredibly sharp. It's very lightweight, but also striking in simplicity and beauty. I find myself not wanting to have this in my pocket everyday, but on occasion, so as not to age it too quickly, but then again, at only around $30, it's easily replaced. I can't say this any more positively than this: If you need a single blade, locking pocket knife, sharp enough to skin deer or whatever, buy this knife! You will love it!

Well made, great Buck quality that you expect. Just understand that this is a small knife, and very light. Great for carrying in your slacks, but don't expect to use it for heavy duty tasks.
