Benchmade Mini Barrage 585 review

  Other than the clip, the knife itself is rock solid. Great assisted opening mechanism.

Excellent Knife - Just Wish The Clip Was Stronger

 That way, it does not ever fall open on its own. I carry my barrage in my pocket often and usually don't lock the blade shut with the switch on the knife, but it's probably a good practice to do. I've never had a problem though.  I'm not a huge fan of the plasticy scales (sides of the handle) that come with the knife, but I'd much rather have a stellar blade and locking mechanism than worry about the feel of the handles

 The axis locking mechanism is superb and holds the blade firmly in place with very little wiggle. With a pull on the release mechanism the blade is easy to close, and the way the release is positioned, it ensures your fingers are away from the blade as it's closing. But be careful as with any good knife -- it is sharp!!  The axis-assist open works very reliably and swiftly. As you use the thumb stud to push the blade out of the knife, it crosses a threshold (of about a centimeter open) where the knife opens on its own and locks into place

Great pocket knife

 It has a hollow plastic design that no doubt was to save weight due to the steel liners inside. Other reviews have pointed out that you get a cheap feeling due to this. I agree thus 4 stars instead of 5. I would have liked a more rubberized solid grip even at the expense of more weight! Put this into the Can't Get Everything You Want bucket

The Higo no Kami folding knife has a long history in Japan dating back to the late 19th century. A blacksmith is said to have added a simple lever to a minimally designed pocket knife to aid in opening and closing the blade and to set it apart from other knives. The knife proved to be successful and a guild was formed to oversee the manufacture of the knife. Only those belonging to the guild were allowed to manufacture the knife to specification and use the trademarked name "Higo no Kami". The term "Higo no Kami" means "Lord of Higo" in Japanese, in honor of the Lord of the Kyushu area of Japan, where the knife originated. Today, each Higo no Kami knife is still handmade by the last remaining maker in the guild, Nagao Seisakusho.

 And these things sell for between like 20 and 40 bucks, depending on the model. If you're going with something crazy, like some sort of Damascus steel blade, or you're doing a San Mai blade or something like that, then you'll end up paying upwards like 400 or 500 bucks I've seen online. But something simple like this is all you need. And I think bringing all those other aspects to it like Damascus and San Mai and anything like that is just taking away from the beauty of this blade

 I have no idea what it says because I can't read Japanese, but it is stamped on here and it's stamped on the blade. And I believe it, it's pretty much just a maker's mark on it, who it's made by or what company it's made by. Because I know some of the other companies stamp different things like Musashi stamps theirs with made by Musashi company, just shit like that. But overall, it's a really small, elegant little knife

 I mean the Z hunter had more going for it. Let'S see, that's that's cold, but it's true. It'S true, um, speaking of really ugly things that are true. This knife has no stop

 And if you let go with your thumb at all, it starts to shut down on your hand, but luckily you know that parts not very sharp, because it's not well Robin um, and this is just I mean, ah of all of the knives I own. If somebody said you know, hey Nick, you got to go cut with something. I would pick this little Victorinox guy as a cutting tool over you. He gon na Comi here, just because the handle is so bad

 The blade stop is when the sharp edge hits metal to dull it, and it's just not really good to cut with. I mean you can do it, but it's just no fun at all, especially yeah. It'S just adding that way. So I mean, what's what's my final verdict there? So I'm really

 This is just the small zip tie, because if thighs are useful for everything - and this prevents it from popping out I've seen other things with paracord, you could of course use kind of a sheets or something like that. But you cannot just toss this in your pocket and expect not to stab yourself that's kind of crappy. I mean there's a reason that every damn knife ever has some kind of a detent, and so especially with this lever here, just inexcusable in my personal opinion. Um next issue with it is that the build quality is just terrible

 This is a loaner from paddy by the way. So this is well-loved this one yeah, I'm actually, I think I'm a fan of these. I think I might place an order for one in my next term, my next tiny order, but yeah. These are just very simple, very, very bones: its mystery fold, a piece of steel, make a carbon steel blade, pin no locking mechanism just that friction folder and it you know any good on the sharpness first, oh of course it is look at that yeah
