Bell Granite MIPS vs Smith Persist

Bought this for the added protection of the MiPS feature but the shell on the helmet is simply cheap plastic stuck on. Overall the helmet will work fine, but it does feel cheaply made and came with a sticker on it that said the price was $12.99, which is definitely NOT the $49.99 I paid for it, so that's pretty disappointing to say the least

The cushions can be taken off and washed as needed also. A pediatrician once told me when encouraging that my child wear a bike helmet, "I can fix her arms and legs if she falls, I can not fix her brain."

There is no way this helmet will hold together for a mountain bike trip. I guess I'm going to have to return it and order a more expensive helmet.

My wife just got an e-bike and I reminded her that this state requires a helmet. We looked at the less expensive helmets which typified "you get what your pay for". After much searching and comparing I saw this helmet and there was no question it would give her the protection she needed. Lightweight and very sturdy, two must-have qualities in a bike helmet

In 2021 even helmets costing half as much as this one use more modern techniques to fuse the coating onto the shell. Apparently, Bell actually developed the technique so I was surprised it wasn’t used in this helmet. The fit was so good, I have been looking for other Bell helmets but there aren’t many in the 57 mm range. I do not personally like the idea of a huge shell with a universal fit tightening knob for those at the lower end of the size range

How hard would it have been to include a sizing chart in the item description??? I ordered a helmet that is too small and now have to return. What a PITA.

So I can't say how comfortable it is while riding, but it seems like it'll be great. I tried putting on my cycling glasses with the rear view mirror clipped on the rim and there wasn't any interference like my previous Schwinn helmet. I also can't say how well it functions in a crash, and I hope I can never weigh in on that, either. But, I feel comfortable with this helmet at this price point due to the reputable brand that manufacturers it

Bought the POC Ventral at over $250 and this Smith helmet is so much more comfortable, and the chin strap system is amazingly easy to adjust to fit around your ears and then tighten up to the chin. The POC is “pretty” but the Smith is really nice looking and so much more affordable. Save the cash and use it on bike gloves, socks, etc. Go with the Smith!
