Bell Granite MIPS vs Bontrager Starvos WaveCel

Bought this for the added protection of the MiPS feature but the shell on the helmet is simply cheap plastic stuck on. Overall the helmet will work fine, but it does feel cheaply made and came with a sticker on it that said the price was $12.99, which is definitely NOT the $49.99 I paid for it, so that's pretty disappointing to say the least

I am getting back into bike riding after many years away. I ordered a E Bike and needed a helmet. I went to Eddys in Stow and I was assisted by a nice gentleman. I explained that I have never worn a biking helmet but I have been riding motorcycles for 45 years

There is no way this helmet will hold together for a mountain bike trip. I guess I'm going to have to return it and order a more expensive helmet.

Back to biking after a few decades, I researched bike helmets and ended up choosing this one was likely to offer excellent crash protection and be comfortable. I hope not to test the first, and can attest to the latter. It's been beastly hot recently and I was not at all conscious of this helmet adding to misery. I found the strap adjustment to be a chore but I think I finally have it set right

In 2021 even helmets costing half as much as this one use more modern techniques to fuse the coating onto the shell. Apparently, Bell actually developed the technique so I was surprised it wasn’t used in this helmet. The fit was so good, I have been looking for other Bell helmets but there aren’t many in the 57 mm range. I do not personally like the idea of a huge shell with a universal fit tightening knob for those at the lower end of the size range

Their inventory is extremely low, and the size choices are very limited. The straps are a pain to adjust and get to fit comfortably.

So I can't say how comfortable it is while riding, but it seems like it'll be great. I tried putting on my cycling glasses with the rear view mirror clipped on the rim and there wasn't any interference like my previous Schwinn helmet. I also can't say how well it functions in a crash, and I hope I can never weigh in on that, either. But, I feel comfortable with this helmet at this price point due to the reputable brand that manufacturers it
