 That can be a bad sign, but not necessarily. Looking at the reviews of this exact product on another web site that sells musical and pro-audio exclusively the aggregate rating there is higher with a near-zero fraction of very low ratings. That fact combined with the low cost of the product made it worth taking a chance on. At this price point, compared with what I will have to pay for a different very high-end product that pretty much takes out all the risk makes this Behringer product "trial" essentially disposable

 But it started with no problem with the 404 disconnected. Once Cake Walk was running I connected the usb from the 404 again and everything was ok. Cake walk recognized the audio devices and I switched my inputs and outputs over to it accordingly. With that step done, Cake Walk now opens and closes and opens again while the 404 is connected with no problems

 I recorded some audio off the input from the 404 and played it back through the 404 and that all worked. Audio quality is fine. I'm not an audiophile and I'm not using this for professional recording and it suits my needs for now.  A couple of negatives: Phantom power is not individually selectable per input

  So my experience with this so far: Set it up with some audio sources to the inputs, verified they were routing through to the headphone output, made sure I understood how to use the controls associated with this basic mode of operation. All good. Tested it with a CD player, a guitar (through an effects box), and a microphone. Phantom power is good, but it's all-or-nothing for all four inputs so watch out for that if you are using mixed microphones

 Im Thinking off buying a new Open One(because i notice a better sound in comparison to closed ones). From my like 10 hour research while watching youtube videos and playing osrs i find these Headphones attractive:.

 That said, if you find it for $60 or $65 dollars, it would make the deal spot on for value.

 In my estimation, the average user who is simply looking to create their own content, or upgrade from a laptop or PC soundcard will be very well satisfied with this device.  My primary gripe against this device for which I dropped one star is the installation support, which is none from Behringer. PC compatibility is a problem as it is not usable on a system without installing the right codec. Behringer has made this a messy process, and in fact without support, as it has no proprietary codecs or software for the device

 That is a massively dropped ball. But in the end I got it to work, so I’m relieved in the end. It took a couple of hours to get it to work which is the negative. I would still highly recommend this to everyone with the note that they need to get some help on the software side to install it properly

I am writing about both the UM2 and UMC202HD:  I had to write this review to help out anyone else who comes across this product like me. I want the best for the least amount of money, and I’m willing to spend more if it means avoiding a product that will be a waste of money down the line. These products match my expectations and needs at an excellent price point.  UM2: The pricing on this model can not be emphasized enough, because it is literally a third of the cost of more expensive equipment that fundamentally performs on par at its core function (transmitting good quality analog sound to digital for usage in a PC or in other devices through the analog output)

 But at this price? Not even close! In the very crowded world of sub-$200 audio interfaces, I will put the UMC404HD up there as a clear winner.

 Tracktion was billed as "included" software, but it wasn't actually in the box with it, and when I registered the product with Behringer to get my "free" download code, I have yet to get any reply from them. There's a free version of Tracktion available and that's probably what they're talking about. Behringer pulled this crap before by including the freeware Audacity with interfaces and billing it as some great deal of included software (and Audacity sucks, BTW). Tried messing with Tracktion a bit, but really not a fan of the workflow

 I needed a simple and cheap USB interface to use with an old beater laptop for some mobile recording. After much research, I nabbed a Behringer UMC404HD. The price was cheap enough to be worth the gamble; I've used Behringer things a few times in the past, but never an interface, and was worried it might be too junky to be usable. But seeing that these are perpetually out of stock at most places, I figured it would be easy enough to flip if it ended up being a lemon

My previous 18i20 had these rubbery type knobs that kind of wore off after a while and they just started looking bad after a few years where this brand new Claret has a metal feel on each knob that's really nice and solid and I definitely think they're gonna last longer and look better for a longer period of time. Another nice addition that I like with this brand new Claret audio interface is the left and right output levels which isn't something that you got with the older 18i20 which I think visually is nice and it's also just a nice indicator to show you what's going on when you play your tracks

 Now the final thing we have to have a look at is the price difference and when I first purchased my 18i20 around 2015 2016 it did cost me around $500 and the upgraded version the third generation which came out about a year or two ago it's also around $500 $550 and I must say in terms of value for money these audio interfaces are great with 18 inputs 20 outputs a lot of XLR inputs which is nice if you want to record multiple microphones guitars all at the same time and for a studio setup this is an audio interface that's going to last you three four five years easily without needing to upgrade because it is also big enough but if you're looking to upgrade and you want preamp quality you want to be able to hear the quality in an expensive microphone and not record with an 18i20 or something cheap but you want to hear those details and you're paying to hear those details it is a good investment to pay for an audio interface like the Claret that's a thousand dollars that will also last at least five to ten years before you really would want to upgrade and it's just going to do such a good job and give you the vocal quality that you deserve to have when you're recording and making your music.  I use lowish (30 ohm) cans that are very efficient, and find that it plays loud and sounds great. But beware that this is where Focusrite cut corners.  Finally, the bad news. Focusrite's software is a minor horror show

It was too much trouble to get working; It forces you to install a control app that doesn't detect the interface the first few times around and the USB drivers cause too many issues. I wasn't able to get an signal to or from the device. Support is nonexistent, most help that would be gotten are for the Scarlett series of interfaces, which from personal experience, actually work and are simpler to install.  I was hugely disappointed in the product
