The USB on this is stereo, but it has the 8 Direct Outputs for connecting to an audio interface, such as the Behringer U-Phoria UMC1820. This is about $175 used.

I need something that can power an SM-57 with no problem. 

It needs to be have a really good sound to noise ratio, and low noise floor with a good amount of headroom, with very good sounding preamps.

It also needs to atleast be able to easily power Sony MDR-7506 headphones which I'll be using, and if it can power 250 Ohm headphones, then great, if not, then it's fine. If so, I might get the 250 Ohm DT 770 headphones instead. Not sure yet though.

When I do use it as an audio interface, it will need to work flawlessly with an M1 Macbook. Though, I don't have an M1 Macbook yet, so it needs to be an interface that if need be setup, can be setup with a really old intel mac mini running snow leopard. My mac mini accepts my steinberg UR22 (first version not MKII) interface just fine.

If it's able to somehow be attached on a mic stand or if a stand is sold for it, that would be exactly what I need. Preferably a mic stand attachment like the Yamaha MG10XU has.

My budget is around $200, but hopefully this can be around $150. I'm not looking for the newest interface, I just want one that has all the features and specs I want, and works perfectly.

I'm torn between getting something like this, or a mixer... I'm really loving the Yamaha MG10XU, but to record everyone, it records everyone together via USB. Meaning I can't edit everyone individually after, we would all be in one stereo audio file. With an interface, I would be able to edit everyone individually.

Behringer UMC 1820 (FULL DEMO) | Rapture Review #12.5

 What's going on guys, Owen Alick here back with another Rapture Review. On last

 week's episode we took a look at the Behringer UMC 1820. On this episode we're

 going to be looking a bit further into that and I'm going to give you some tech

 So the reason why I've bought this interface and the reason why I'm demoing

 it is because I think it's very useful for a lot of drummers out there that

 want to record everything themselves. This is a way of being able to just

 throw them on a few mics on your drum kit and just record. This is a one unit rack

 mountable USB interface with eight inputs either for microphones or

 instruments or with Midas designed preamps. So the current price for this

 interface is around about the £200 mark but I got mine a really good deal it was

 on Toman for £150 although I did have to spend a little extra cash on the rack

 case because obviously you don't want to just have the interface and then nothing

 to put it in. I also bought a snake from there as well it was a three meter I

 realized afterwards that that was too short. I should have got a five meter so

 I've invested another one of them. That's just an 8 XLR snake that I can

 customize to fit the size of my kit and where I have the mics and things like

 that. So very much worth investing in. I'll leave links to everything that I've

 bought and everything you're gonna see in this video in the description below.

 So as you saw in the previous video all I did was just a bit of drum sample and

 you heard it with processed audio and also unprocessed audio. In this one what

 I'm going to be doing is a full mix so drums, bass and guitar. It's all processed

 and it's all going through the interface.

Scarlett series (2nd gen) devices in the past but have switched to Behringer and couldn't be happier. Currently using a UMC404HD in my live rig and a UMC1820 expanded with an ADA8200 in the studio. Build quality is on par with the Scarletts and signal to noise ratio is actually better. Sure, there are interfaces with better pre-amps but for the money a UMC1820 will give you a lot of bang for the bucks

So looking into upgrade options, the logical choice would be to jump up to their 18i20 but then I start researching Behringers version which is just shy of half the price and I’m wondering…”why not…?”.

So I guess my post has two questions. Has anyone else used the Behringer UMC1820 on a serious level, albeit in a non commercial studio? or have you had a similar anecdotal experience of buying the cheaper version and being very happy or very disappointed…?

Would you buy a behringer interface?

 That said, if you find it for $60 or $65 dollars, it would make the deal spot on for value.

 In my estimation, the average user who is simply looking to create their own content, or upgrade from a laptop or PC soundcard will be very well satisfied with this device.  My primary gripe against this device for which I dropped one star is the installation support, which is none from Behringer. PC compatibility is a problem as it is not usable on a system without installing the right codec. Behringer has made this a messy process, and in fact without support, as it has no proprietary codecs or software for the device

 That is a massively dropped ball. But in the end I got it to work, so I’m relieved in the end. It took a couple of hours to get it to work which is the negative. I would still highly recommend this to everyone with the note that they need to get some help on the software side to install it properly

I am writing about both the UM2 and UMC202HD:  I had to write this review to help out anyone else who comes across this product like me. I want the best for the least amount of money, and I’m willing to spend more if it means avoiding a product that will be a waste of money down the line. These products match my expectations and needs at an excellent price point.  UM2: The pricing on this model can not be emphasized enough, because it is literally a third of the cost of more expensive equipment that fundamentally performs on par at its core function (transmitting good quality analog sound to digital for usage in a PC or in other devices through the analog output)

 But at this price? Not even close! In the very crowded world of sub-$200 audio interfaces, I will put the UMC404HD up there as a clear winner.

 Tracktion was billed as "included" software, but it wasn't actually in the box with it, and when I registered the product with Behringer to get my "free" download code, I have yet to get any reply from them. There's a free version of Tracktion available and that's probably what they're talking about. Behringer pulled this crap before by including the freeware Audacity with interfaces and billing it as some great deal of included software (and Audacity sucks, BTW). Tried messing with Tracktion a bit, but really not a fan of the workflow

 I needed a simple and cheap USB interface to use with an old beater laptop for some mobile recording. After much research, I nabbed a Behringer UMC404HD. The price was cheap enough to be worth the gamble; I've used Behringer things a few times in the past, but never an interface, and was worried it might be too junky to be usable. But seeing that these are perpetually out of stock at most places, I figured it would be easy enough to flip if it ended up being a lemon

The RME BabyFace Pro FS/MadiFace Pro. RME are known for their software support which is why I recommend them so much. They have drivers supporting M1 as they aren't reliant on 3rd parties because they develop their own interface core.

Hey all, I would love some advice on a new audio interface. I’d consider myself kind of a tweener: not quite a prosumer because I make a living with this stuff, but not quite professional level music producer who would know their way around hardware and outboard gear. I’m extremely curious and committed to learning, and looking to improve mt craft every day.

My problem:

I just upgraded my old rMBP (2013) to an M1 Max, and I'm thinking of getting a new audio interface. My current Duet 2 works fine but Big Sur/Monterey broke some of its features and Apogee has been extremely slow to update it. Support looks to be on its way/phasing out. Makes sense as I bought it in 2013…

I am thinking maybe this is a window where I can still to sell it and upgrade my interface so that I can gain some more flexibility in my workflow. 

As for my goals, I want to have two or three main workflows:

1) 80% of the time I teach music remotely. I use virtual audio routing, a lot of screen sharing, and teach on guitar/keyboard/DAW. It isn’t strictly necessary but I think DSP processing would be really nice to have so I could compress on the way in and use a virtual mix bus, offering my clients (especially the ones learning basic music production) better quality audio for their mixes and for ear-training.

2) The other main use cases are recording acoustic guitar and voice (easily accomplished by any interface), and one day

3) possibly do some live streaming, where I am just writing/producing on the fly (I think this is where having the new laptop opens up OBS/Wirecast and all the DAW/external audio whereas my old laptop could not handle it). Internal mic preamps would be nice, but again not necessary.

Obviously any interface will allow me to do these things but I just wanted to explain how I would use it. I'm looking at Apogee Symphony Desktop, Antelope Audio Zen Q, and the Apollo Twin X...

So if I have this correct, my pros/cons are:

Apogee Symphony Desktop
-famous for their converters
-EQ/Compression in both DSP/Native (no DSP reverb, though)
-Dual Path (where both print and/or monitoring effects are linked, and supposedly near zero latency)
-main con is the price

Apollo Twin X
-many of the same pros
-effects are very well-regarded
-more hardware emulations
-Duo is more affordable, but I don’t love the idea of being locked into their plugin ecosystem and all of that can add way more cost, even with the heritage Black Friday deal

Antelope Audio Zen Q
-way more effects (37) than both of the above,
-but hardware and software seem to not be super user-friendly
-I don’t know anything about their reputation, either on the gear/support side of things.

The other route I could go is just super simple, get a Duet 3 or other two channel interface and slowly acquire outboard gear… but that seems super expensive, and ultra slow.

What would you recommend to someone like me?

Recommendation for new USB-C interface

 I also went for RME because their drivers & routing software are top notch. Audio quality played only a minor role tbh because even budget Interfaces nowadays have extremely good audio quality.

I upgraded from a Presonus Studio 26 to an RME Babyface Pro FS last year. My main reason for the upgrade was that I needed something that is portable (the babyface can be powered by usb) but also has ADAT for additional I/O. I also went for RME because their drivers & routing software are top notch. Audio quality played only a minor role tbh because even budget Interfaces nowadays have extremely good audio quality

So, I have a Motu M2. I recently traded and got a SSL 2 as well. I like both of then. But was thinking an upgrade would take things to the next level. I was eyeing the RME Babyface Pro FS, Apogee Duet 3, Motu Ultralite MK5, Antelope Audio Zen Go and the Arturia Audiofuse. Does anyone have any experience with these? And do any of them have to be plugged in externally through an outlet? Price wise RME is probably out of my budget. Are these things that much better quality wise than what I already have. I thought the M2 and SSL 2 had good preamps and converters. But the more I read the more it seems that they are more budget interfaces. And help?
