Aventon is a relatively new player in the electric bike market, but they've quickly made a name for themselves with great-looking, quality models like the Level Step-Thru. Sleek design and excellent battery integration aside, the Level has a 500W &#40;750W peak&#41; motor capable of a 28 mph top pedal-assisted speed and can be configured as a Class 1, 2, or 3 e-bike. Five levels of pedal assistance provide a great range of support for your pedaling efforts along with a throttle that can zip you along at speeds up to 20mph. The large 672Wh battery and efficient use of power also helped make the Level one of the top performers in our distance range testing. We tested the Step-Thru version &#40;it also comes in a traditional step-over frame&#41; and we found it to be quite comfortable, with a very smooth, stable ride with responsive handling. Unlike many manufacturers that use a one size fits most approach, Aventon offers the Level Step-Thru in two frame sizes to fit riders between 4'11" and 6'2" tall. It also comes with an excellent user interface and useful features like fenders and a heavy-duty rear rack.
We found little to complain about with the Level Step-Thru, but we were a little disappointed that it doesn't come with lights. That said, aftermarket lights are relatively affordable, and the ones that typically come on complete bikes usually aren't that great anyway. Additionally, the handlebar has a limited range of height adjustability, so dialing it in your exact preferences isn't as easy as with some other models. Beyond that, we feel this quality e-bike is a fantastic option for the city, commuting, or just for fun.

Electric Bike Report

 Are ergonomic grips by velo, they've kind of been shaped around the human hand. That really meshes nicely with your palm when you're holding on when it comes to the brakes on this bike. This has hydraulic disc brakes from bangle and 180 millimeter disc rotors. I love that they put hydraulic disc brakes on this bike, because it's rare that you find a bike at this price point that has those hydraulic disc brakes so kudos to event in

 As i mentioned in the specs, it isn't very common that you find a bike around this price point with this nice nice of brakes so kudos to a venting for the brake setup on this bike. It really adds to the overall experience and performance of the event and level [ Music ]. It has been a hell of a day, testing this event and level, and let me say i think this bike is the perfect super commuter for a lot of people. Reason being it hauls on anything, that's relatively flat, and it's also very easy and to maneuver and it's very nimble

7 seconds, that's decent! It would have been a lot faster if i didn't have to engage the pedals first. With that being said, eventon does offer the standard throttle where that test would probably be a little faster than what we received here. Last but not least, with the bike completely off, i got 15.3 seconds, which is respectable, considering the bike is 62 pounds because of this, it is gon na be a little bit hard to push, but because of the fast rolling tires, an eight-speed drivetrain

 Bikers we are to the infamous hill, the one. That'S a half a mile with an average grade of 12 overall. This is the steepest hill. We'Re able to find in town to test out how these e-bikes are capable of climbing, with throttle only and maximum pedal assist

Aventon Level Review | Commuter Electric Bike (2021)

 I think that this suspension fork here really makes the bike come alive reason being, is it really just absorbs a lot of that chatter that bucks you offline and fatigues you faster when you combine the plush suspension fork with the mentioned 680 millimeter handlebar, you have a Very confident front end on this bike, where you can absorb bumps with your body, and the bike can too thanks to its fork. This fork also comes with a lockout for those who do want to ride fully rigid, perhaps for more efficiency, but because i have that pedal assist, i left it fully open for the squish all the time. Your rubber here, you have 27.5 by 2

 This frame feels just as strong as its crossbar brother and i think, eventon's doing a really good job. Finding that median of good looks and good performance, there are a few things in the way of comfort and handling that i want to discuss with you guys on this bike. You may have noticed there is a 75 mil suspension fork on this bike. I'Ve left this out to talk about now

 I'Ve had a good experience with this bike so far. So, let's get into the nitty-gritty of what it's all about: [, Music, ], so the event and level is powered by a 500 watt geared hub motor with a 750 watt peak. I found this motor to be pretty torquey and it gets me up to my top speed pretty easily, where i don't have to work hard. That'S something i very much value in a commuter bike

 Having those eight speeds really plays a factor with you not having to work too hard. I started going up the hill in the hardest gear and i probably shifted four or five times by the time i was at the top just to keep that consistent, cadence going. So. Basically, i see this eight speed drive drivetrain keeping riders fresher and giving them a lot wider gear range for, if you're, on a flat ground, keeping the bike up to speed or crawling up a hill without getting sweaty

The Valen rev is quite heavy, I had to work out a bit on a wobble board before I could handle riding it at all- after several days or riding it a short distance I felt my core getting stronger and my balance improving and I could go a longer distance. 

Very cool looking but a few cons

I reviewed the RetroSpec Valen an ebike which i found to be a cheaper alternative to the Super 73

 What do you guys decide? I think it's pretty nifty.

 Now, the first thing we're going to talk about is the brand. It's Retrospect. Now, I've never

 actually heard of it before. Never heard of it until I seen this bike in the shop. It's

 the Retrospect Ballin Rev. Now, this bike can go 55 miles. It's got 55 miles of battery.

 It's got the twisting go and it can also go up to 23 miles an hour. Now, 23 is what I've

 been pushing to so far, but I'm thoroughly enjoying this bike.

 Now, the first thing we're going to look at is the little computer right here. So, first

 of all, we're going to start up here. It's got three different modes. It's got power,

 normal and eco. Obviously, the power gives you a little bit more power. Normal is just

 your normal way of riding and eco is obviously more eco towards the bike.

 Next up, guys, we have got the speed here. So, this tells you how fast we're going. Like

 I did tell you, it does go up to 23 is what I've pushed it to so far. I reckon down a

 hill it can easily get there, you know. We've also got six different levels for when you

 are cycling and how much pressure it's going to put on. So, you can flick through those.

 The next thing we're going to talk about is the lights. Now, obviously, it's got a huge

 big light on the front here and it's also got the blinkers on the back here as well.

 So, it's great for when you're riding at night. People can see you from the front and people

 can obviously see you from behind as well. And while we're back here, we're going to

 talk about these huge, big, thick tires, which are great if you want to ride in the dirt

 Next up, guys, what I do want to talk about is the fact that it's got space for two people.

 It's even got pedals for whoever's sitting in the back, which is great if you're a couple

 or if you've got a kid and you want to sit on the back. Along with all the cool things,

 it's also got a little cup holder here and obviously you can put your bottle here as

 well. So, along with the light at the back, guys, this is actually the battery. The battery

 just pulls in and pulls out. It's a bit of a pull, but it's really, really, really great.

 Now, on top of everything else, guys, the main thing for me was it looks really cool.

 Now, I was always interested in getting a Super 73 and this feels like the much cheaper

 option to a Super 73. I don't know the specs of the Super 73, but what I do know is this

 bike so far has been absolutely amazing. The battery's great on it. It's very fast and

 Right, okay. So, guys, the Retrospec Valen Rev is only $1,800. So, it's a really, really...

 It's not cheap. It's expensive, but if you're looking to get something like this and maybe

 the Super 73 is a little bit out of your budget, I would highly recommend getting this bike.
