Aventon is a relatively new player in the electric bike market, but they've quickly made a name for themselves with great-looking, quality models like the Level Step-Thru. Sleek design and excellent battery integration aside, the Level has a 500W &#40;750W peak&#41; motor capable of a 28 mph top pedal-assisted speed and can be configured as a Class 1, 2, or 3 e-bike. Five levels of pedal assistance provide a great range of support for your pedaling efforts along with a throttle that can zip you along at speeds up to 20mph. The large 672Wh battery and efficient use of power also helped make the Level one of the top performers in our distance range testing. We tested the Step-Thru version &#40;it also comes in a traditional step-over frame&#41; and we found it to be quite comfortable, with a very smooth, stable ride with responsive handling. Unlike many manufacturers that use a one size fits most approach, Aventon offers the Level Step-Thru in two frame sizes to fit riders between 4'11" and 6'2" tall. It also comes with an excellent user interface and useful features like fenders and a heavy-duty rear rack.
We found little to complain about with the Level Step-Thru, but we were a little disappointed that it doesn't come with lights. That said, aftermarket lights are relatively affordable, and the ones that typically come on complete bikes usually aren't that great anyway. Additionally, the handlebar has a limited range of height adjustability, so dialing it in your exact preferences isn't as easy as with some other models. Beyond that, we feel this quality e-bike is a fantastic option for the city, commuting, or just for fun.

 Are ergonomic grips by velo, they've kind of been shaped around the human hand. That really meshes nicely with your palm when you're holding on when it comes to the brakes on this bike. This has hydraulic disc brakes from bangle and 180 millimeter disc rotors. I love that they put hydraulic disc brakes on this bike, because it's rare that you find a bike at this price point that has those hydraulic disc brakes so kudos to event in

 As i mentioned in the specs, it isn't very common that you find a bike around this price point with this nice nice of brakes so kudos to a venting for the brake setup on this bike. It really adds to the overall experience and performance of the event and level [ Music ]. It has been a hell of a day, testing this event and level, and let me say i think this bike is the perfect super commuter for a lot of people. Reason being it hauls on anything, that's relatively flat, and it's also very easy and to maneuver and it's very nimble

7 seconds, that's decent! It would have been a lot faster if i didn't have to engage the pedals first. With that being said, eventon does offer the standard throttle where that test would probably be a little faster than what we received here. Last but not least, with the bike completely off, i got 15.3 seconds, which is respectable, considering the bike is 62 pounds because of this, it is gon na be a little bit hard to push, but because of the fast rolling tires, an eight-speed drivetrain

 Bikers we are to the infamous hill, the one. That'S a half a mile with an average grade of 12 overall. This is the steepest hill. We'Re able to find in town to test out how these e-bikes are capable of climbing, with throttle only and maximum pedal assist

Aventon Level Review | Commuter Electric Bike (2021)

 I think that this suspension fork here really makes the bike come alive reason being, is it really just absorbs a lot of that chatter that bucks you offline and fatigues you faster when you combine the plush suspension fork with the mentioned 680 millimeter handlebar, you have a Very confident front end on this bike, where you can absorb bumps with your body, and the bike can too thanks to its fork. This fork also comes with a lockout for those who do want to ride fully rigid, perhaps for more efficiency, but because i have that pedal assist, i left it fully open for the squish all the time. Your rubber here, you have 27.5 by 2

 This frame feels just as strong as its crossbar brother and i think, eventon's doing a really good job. Finding that median of good looks and good performance, there are a few things in the way of comfort and handling that i want to discuss with you guys on this bike. You may have noticed there is a 75 mil suspension fork on this bike. I'Ve left this out to talk about now

 I'Ve had a good experience with this bike so far. So, let's get into the nitty-gritty of what it's all about: [, Music, ], so the event and level is powered by a 500 watt geared hub motor with a 750 watt peak. I found this motor to be pretty torquey and it gets me up to my top speed pretty easily, where i don't have to work hard. That'S something i very much value in a commuter bike

 Having those eight speeds really plays a factor with you not having to work too hard. I started going up the hill in the hardest gear and i probably shifted four or five times by the time i was at the top just to keep that consistent, cadence going. So. Basically, i see this eight speed drive drivetrain keeping riders fresher and giving them a lot wider gear range for, if you're, on a flat ground, keeping the bike up to speed or crawling up a hill without getting sweaty

The RadCity 5 Plus is a Class 2 model with the quality, performance, and features that have made Rad Power bikes so popular. Many people don't need or want a bike that can go faster than 20 mph, and that's who this model is made for. Still, with a 750W geared hub motor, this bike is plenty powerful with quick acceleration using the throttle or pedal assist or making those hills all but disappear. Rad Power's most recent frame designs have a cleaner and more streamlined look and the RadCity's semi-integrated 672 Wh battery gives it one of the best distance ranges of all the models we tested. The ride is super stable and smooth with a suspension fork, 27.5-inch wheels, and 2-inch wide tires that roll fast and take the edge off rough surfaces. It has a relaxed, upright seated position with comfortable touchpoints and lots of handlebar and seat height adjustability, plus it comes in step-through and step-over frame styles to suit varying needs. Of course, it also comes equipped with useful features like integrated lights, fenders, and a rear cargo rack, and Rad Power sells lots of accessories so you can customize your ride. 
At 64 lbs and 11 oz, the RadCity 5 Plus is pretty heavy. This weight makes it less than ideal if you need to carry it up or down a flight of stairs, and it can be challenging to load onto a bike rack. It also has a relatively tall front end and handlebar, and while the stem is adjustable, the seated position is quite upright. This upright position lends itself to an easy-going ride feel, and that translates into the bike's more relaxed handling as well. As a Class 2 model, it's also limited to a top speed of 20 mph using pedal-assist, but again that may be ideal for many users. Despite these concerns, we feel this is a great option for anyone seeking a quality Class 2 electric commuter.

So instead of this checkerboard pattern, we've got this really sleek hybrid and it's still got like a puncture protection belt that they've integrated. so you've got some durability, but you've got a quieter wheel and a more efficient wheel, so the range on this should be pretty good. We're going to talk about the motor in a minute because that helps out as well lower attack angle with this wider diameter, so that helps you to just smooth over bumps and it just adds some comfort

 You got your comfort, you got your utility. The style I think has been improved, the range has been improved. They're great products. I have measured everything on both bikes

 I weighed both of these yesterday and it costs more 17.99 so it used to be about 15.99 Rad Power Bikes had to raise their prices in kind of like late 2020. We've had the supply chain stuff and everything, but there are actually several other upgrades that make this worthwhile in my opinion, that justify the higher price

We can't really check that claim based on these results alone, but it did clear the top of hell hole with which, considering the steepness and the length of this hill, that's a feat and of itself. So good result from the Rad City Five Plus All in all, I've been really, really impressed with the Rad City 5 Plus. Again, this is the second edition of the new Rad City that I've personally reviewed

 The Radcity 5 Plus did just fine up our test hill, getting to the top in Pas 5 and 1 minutes 20 seconds with an average speed of 13.6 miles per hour and then in the throttle only portion of the test cleared the top in two minutes, exactly with an average speed of nine miles per hour.
