Aventon is a relatively new player in the electric bike market, but they've quickly made a name for themselves with great-looking, quality models like the Level Step-Thru. Sleek design and excellent battery integration aside, the Level has a 500W &#40;750W peak&#41; motor capable of a 28 mph top pedal-assisted speed and can be configured as a Class 1, 2, or 3 e-bike. Five levels of pedal assistance provide a great range of support for your pedaling efforts along with a throttle that can zip you along at speeds up to 20mph. The large 672Wh battery and efficient use of power also helped make the Level one of the top performers in our distance range testing. We tested the Step-Thru version &#40;it also comes in a traditional step-over frame&#41; and we found it to be quite comfortable, with a very smooth, stable ride with responsive handling. Unlike many manufacturers that use a one size fits most approach, Aventon offers the Level Step-Thru in two frame sizes to fit riders between 4'11" and 6'2" tall. It also comes with an excellent user interface and useful features like fenders and a heavy-duty rear rack.
We found little to complain about with the Level Step-Thru, but we were a little disappointed that it doesn't come with lights. That said, aftermarket lights are relatively affordable, and the ones that typically come on complete bikes usually aren't that great anyway. Additionally, the handlebar has a limited range of height adjustability, so dialing it in your exact preferences isn't as easy as with some other models. Beyond that, we feel this quality e-bike is a fantastic option for the city, commuting, or just for fun.

 Are ergonomic grips by velo, they've kind of been shaped around the human hand. That really meshes nicely with your palm when you're holding on when it comes to the brakes on this bike. This has hydraulic disc brakes from bangle and 180 millimeter disc rotors. I love that they put hydraulic disc brakes on this bike, because it's rare that you find a bike at this price point that has those hydraulic disc brakes so kudos to event in

 As i mentioned in the specs, it isn't very common that you find a bike around this price point with this nice nice of brakes so kudos to a venting for the brake setup on this bike. It really adds to the overall experience and performance of the event and level [ Music ]. It has been a hell of a day, testing this event and level, and let me say i think this bike is the perfect super commuter for a lot of people. Reason being it hauls on anything, that's relatively flat, and it's also very easy and to maneuver and it's very nimble

7 seconds, that's decent! It would have been a lot faster if i didn't have to engage the pedals first. With that being said, eventon does offer the standard throttle where that test would probably be a little faster than what we received here. Last but not least, with the bike completely off, i got 15.3 seconds, which is respectable, considering the bike is 62 pounds because of this, it is gon na be a little bit hard to push, but because of the fast rolling tires, an eight-speed drivetrain

 Bikers we are to the infamous hill, the one. That'S a half a mile with an average grade of 12 overall. This is the steepest hill. We'Re able to find in town to test out how these e-bikes are capable of climbing, with throttle only and maximum pedal assist

 I think that this suspension fork here really makes the bike come alive reason being, is it really just absorbs a lot of that chatter that bucks you offline and fatigues you faster when you combine the plush suspension fork with the mentioned 680 millimeter handlebar, you have a Very confident front end on this bike, where you can absorb bumps with your body, and the bike can too thanks to its fork. This fork also comes with a lockout for those who do want to ride fully rigid, perhaps for more efficiency, but because i have that pedal assist, i left it fully open for the squish all the time. Your rubber here, you have 27.5 by 2

 This frame feels just as strong as its crossbar brother and i think, eventon's doing a really good job. Finding that median of good looks and good performance, there are a few things in the way of comfort and handling that i want to discuss with you guys on this bike. You may have noticed there is a 75 mil suspension fork on this bike. I'Ve left this out to talk about now

 I'Ve had a good experience with this bike so far. So, let's get into the nitty-gritty of what it's all about: [, Music, ], so the event and level is powered by a 500 watt geared hub motor with a 750 watt peak. I found this motor to be pretty torquey and it gets me up to my top speed pretty easily, where i don't have to work hard. That'S something i very much value in a commuter bike

 Having those eight speeds really plays a factor with you not having to work too hard. I started going up the hill in the hardest gear and i probably shifted four or five times by the time i was at the top just to keep that consistent, cadence going. So. Basically, i see this eight speed drive drivetrain keeping riders fresher and giving them a lot wider gear range for, if you're, on a flat ground, keeping the bike up to speed or crawling up a hill without getting sweaty

At 30 mph you're going to be using a lot of battery power, so at 3k I'd suggest getting the most battery you can. Since you liked the HyperScorpion Express, I'd suggest actually taking a look at the HyperScrambler 2 at 2950 or the Ariel Rider Grizzly at 2950. They both have dual batteries which are going to be needed for longer distance high speed throttling, while in a similar style to the hyperscorpion.

I weigh 160 and gaining.

I live in a flat city with lots of potholes and very poorly designed bike lanes.

I do caviar, doordash, etc.

I've seen people cruising around on super73s and other bikes of that style. Looks more fun and comfortable than a standard bike. Plus the fat tires are a plus with these streets.

I'd like to keep the price &lt; 3000. 

I'd really like to be able to keep up with traffic at around 30 mph. They don't fix potholes in the bike lanes where there are lanes. So as a cyclist, I'm often forced onto the sidewalk or have to just go through smaller potholes or people will actually accelerate to pass me in the road, not fun. 

I'll be adding fenders, headlights, rear lights, mirrors. 

I am open to upgrades and conversions.

Ebike Suggestion &lt;$3000. Comfort and speed priority. Streets

 Even how many times you stop during your ride will affect the range. The chargers you receive with the Juice Hyper Scrambler 2 are slow charging 2 amp chargers produced by Sands. They're pretty low end chargers and pretty disappointing considering the two massive batteries you're trying to juice up. My version of the Juiced Hyper Scrambler 2 has Tektro breaks which work great, but they still feel a little bit underpowered for this beast of a bike

 It's also best to invest in a dual battery system right off the bat because as of the recording of this video, the Hyper Scrambler 2 with two batteries is in stock, but extra batteries aren't currently available on their store and by the time they do come back with resource shortages and shipping delays, who knows how much more they might cost and without the extra battery, you won't be getting very far on a single 19.2 amp hour charge. Because let's be honest, you're not buying the Hyper Scrambler 2 so you can pedal below 20 everywhere. With a single battery setup, you'll take a hit to your top speed much sooner as well

 Dual battery range is claimed to be around 50 to 100 miles give or take. It all depends on terrain, wind, and your weight, and how much you're pedaling and what your average speed is.  This is one of the fastest motors you can find in the market for a street legal E-byte Other Buffon motors, like their 3000 Watt motors, are available on Hux Cycles and similar brands, but you can't ride them as electric bikes and will need to register them as motorcycles. The Fog motors are a favorite of mine, and Juice Bikes are one of the few E-bike manufacturers innovating in the motor department. With notable exceptions like Aerial Riders metal reinforced gears. Buffon produces some of the most reliable electric bike motors in China, with other Chinese brand motors such as Zofo and Shang Yi being on the questionable side
