Aventon is a relatively new player in the electric bike market, but they've quickly made a name for themselves with great-looking, quality models like the Level Step-Thru. Sleek design and excellent battery integration aside, the Level has a 500W &#40;750W peak&#41; motor capable of a 28 mph top pedal-assisted speed and can be configured as a Class 1, 2, or 3 e-bike. Five levels of pedal assistance provide a great range of support for your pedaling efforts along with a throttle that can zip you along at speeds up to 20mph. The large 672Wh battery and efficient use of power also helped make the Level one of the top performers in our distance range testing. We tested the Step-Thru version &#40;it also comes in a traditional step-over frame&#41; and we found it to be quite comfortable, with a very smooth, stable ride with responsive handling. Unlike many manufacturers that use a one size fits most approach, Aventon offers the Level Step-Thru in two frame sizes to fit riders between 4'11" and 6'2" tall. It also comes with an excellent user interface and useful features like fenders and a heavy-duty rear rack.
We found little to complain about with the Level Step-Thru, but we were a little disappointed that it doesn't come with lights. That said, aftermarket lights are relatively affordable, and the ones that typically come on complete bikes usually aren't that great anyway. Additionally, the handlebar has a limited range of height adjustability, so dialing it in your exact preferences isn't as easy as with some other models. Beyond that, we feel this quality e-bike is a fantastic option for the city, commuting, or just for fun.

 Are ergonomic grips by velo, they've kind of been shaped around the human hand. That really meshes nicely with your palm when you're holding on when it comes to the brakes on this bike. This has hydraulic disc brakes from bangle and 180 millimeter disc rotors. I love that they put hydraulic disc brakes on this bike, because it's rare that you find a bike at this price point that has those hydraulic disc brakes so kudos to event in

 As i mentioned in the specs, it isn't very common that you find a bike around this price point with this nice nice of brakes so kudos to a venting for the brake setup on this bike. It really adds to the overall experience and performance of the event and level [ Music ]. It has been a hell of a day, testing this event and level, and let me say i think this bike is the perfect super commuter for a lot of people. Reason being it hauls on anything, that's relatively flat, and it's also very easy and to maneuver and it's very nimble

7 seconds, that's decent! It would have been a lot faster if i didn't have to engage the pedals first. With that being said, eventon does offer the standard throttle where that test would probably be a little faster than what we received here. Last but not least, with the bike completely off, i got 15.3 seconds, which is respectable, considering the bike is 62 pounds because of this, it is gon na be a little bit hard to push, but because of the fast rolling tires, an eight-speed drivetrain

 Bikers we are to the infamous hill, the one. That'S a half a mile with an average grade of 12 overall. This is the steepest hill. We'Re able to find in town to test out how these e-bikes are capable of climbing, with throttle only and maximum pedal assist

 I think that this suspension fork here really makes the bike come alive reason being, is it really just absorbs a lot of that chatter that bucks you offline and fatigues you faster when you combine the plush suspension fork with the mentioned 680 millimeter handlebar, you have a Very confident front end on this bike, where you can absorb bumps with your body, and the bike can too thanks to its fork. This fork also comes with a lockout for those who do want to ride fully rigid, perhaps for more efficiency, but because i have that pedal assist, i left it fully open for the squish all the time. Your rubber here, you have 27.5 by 2

 This frame feels just as strong as its crossbar brother and i think, eventon's doing a really good job. Finding that median of good looks and good performance, there are a few things in the way of comfort and handling that i want to discuss with you guys on this bike. You may have noticed there is a 75 mil suspension fork on this bike. I'Ve left this out to talk about now

 I'Ve had a good experience with this bike so far. So, let's get into the nitty-gritty of what it's all about: [, Music, ], so the event and level is powered by a 500 watt geared hub motor with a 750 watt peak. I found this motor to be pretty torquey and it gets me up to my top speed pretty easily, where i don't have to work hard. That'S something i very much value in a commuter bike

 Having those eight speeds really plays a factor with you not having to work too hard. I started going up the hill in the hardest gear and i probably shifted four or five times by the time i was at the top just to keep that consistent, cadence going. So. Basically, i see this eight speed drive drivetrain keeping riders fresher and giving them a lot wider gear range for, if you're, on a flat ground, keeping the bike up to speed or crawling up a hill without getting sweaty

 When I did pedal Assist Level Five, I got 12.6 seconds. This bike seemed to jump off the line pretty quickly and the easier gear you're in, the more you're going to accelerate up to that top speed. When I had the Pace 500 completely off, I got 18 seconds flat, which isn't terribly bad considering this is a 49 pound E-bike This is one of those E-bikes I still feel like you can pedal around even if the battery's dead

 When it comes to the throttle only, I got one minute and 48 seconds. That's a lot faster than we got on the event and level, and I think that's partially due to this bike being a lot lighter weight coming in at 49 pounds. When I did maximum pedal assist level 5, I got 1 minute and 16 seconds just 8 seconds behind the evented level. So this seems to be a little bit closer together when it comes to the speed and capability of the throttle and the pedal assist, but the venting level might still be a tad bit faster

5 miles per hour. That's pretty quick considering how far our test rider went. Whether you are going commuting or cruising on the Pace 500, you'll have more than enough battery life to get to your desired destination, so don't be afraid to put the pace through well, it's paces. [Music] Alrighty bikers! We're at our famous hill test here to see how the Pace 500 is capable of climbing hills on maximum pedal assist and with the throttle only its brother

 After we do these three tests and give you the times, you should have a better idea of how the Pace 500 jumps off the line and what type of speed you'll reach within that first little boost of time. With that being said, let's get pedaling [Music] [music] [music] Alrighty guys, So I just finished up those three tests that I mentioned in the intro: the Pedal Assist Level five, throttle Only, and the Pace 500 completely off. When I did throttle only, I got 13.6 seconds

If I had all the money back again, I think I'd buy something else but, if you can just barely afford this one just consider the aerial rideal and aventon 500 too. It's a compromised price point. No bike around this price can be perfect.

 I love the way it's built into the frame because it looks so clean and elegant. That said, it's a bit smaller than we usually see in this class of E-bike though only slightly. Even so, you still get quite good range. And in fact, I love the way Evinton always gives us the real world range figures, showing us that not only does the throttle only range give us about 30 miles of range at 20 miles an hour, but depending where you fall on the pedal assist levels from 1 to 5, you could get anywhere from 24 to 47 miles of range

 The bike rides on 27 and a half inch by 2.2 inch street tires, so there's a bit of a cushion there to make up for the lack of suspension, though admittedly not a ton of cushion. Even so, this is still a comfortable bike to ride because of the geometry. It's not a forward hunched commuter bike, but it's also not a totally upright cruiser either

 As the name implies, the Pace 500's rear motor is rated at a continuous 500 watts, though you know the peak power is definitely higher. I mean, it has to be because this model is a fast class 3 E-bike that gets up to 28 miles per hour or 45 kilometers per hour and it doesn't take too long to get there either. Plus, the 8-speed transmission lets you actually pedal fairly comfortably at higher speeds too. The bike gets powered by that new 48 volt and 12 amp hour battery with 614 watt hours of capacity

 Even so, you still get quite good range. And in fact, I love the way Evinton always gives us the real world range figures, showing us that not only does the throttle only range give us about 30 miles of range at 20 miles an hour, but depending where you fall on the pedal assist levels from 1 to 5, you could get anywhere from 24 to 47 miles of range.
