Audio-Technica AT-LP140XP vs Audio-Technica AT-LP60

I know that the suggested tracking weight for the cartridge is between two and four grams but the greater the tracking weight, the louder the thumping. It is also very sensitive in a way that my old Thorens was not as LPs that played fine on it have play with one or two skips on the AT. As I am not an audiophile per se, any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated here! All said, I certainly hope Audio-Technica keeps this model in production indefinitely!!

Being as affordable as it is, you see where they cut the corners. It's very light weight, so you will make sure that you have its surface pretty well isolated from excessive vibration. You can also see the cost cutting on the simple control buttons. They are very light plastic buttons that you toggle in to active the arm and the speed etc

how am I supposed to adjust the speed with the platter upright and spinning and be able to use a screwdriver on the bottom of the turntable? Good question. The answer is it's a royal pain in the ***! I first had to buy a strobe card, since the turntable doesn't have a built-in strobe pattern, and use a work light with a true incandescent bulb (needed for the strobe pattern). I had to sit with the turntable balanced on the corner of my entertainment center with a record spinning and carefully adjust the speed with a screwdriver. And the speed adjustment is a finicky thing

Luckily i got into it in early 2000's before the recent wave. Only owned it for a few days, however I can really tell for the build quality its very robust and durable. It doesn't seem to introduce unwanted "noise" at all in my setup. Running a nobsound tube amplifier with a set of Klispch's R-41M's speakers

I purchased this turntable a month ago and have used it nearly non-stop since. It's certainly not the best turntable in the world, but for all the features this fully-automatic turntable offers, there really isn't very much competition, especially when one considers what you would need to spend for a true upgrade. As it comes also comes with a phono preamp that sounds better than many cheap external preamps, using this turntable is as simple as plugging it into a set of powered speakers, dropping a record on, and pressing Start. Build quality is acceptable for the price: the chassis is lightweight plastic, the feet do not offer a lot of vibration damping, but the platter is made out of aluminum
