However, for our heavy, wet snow I generally recommend something around 105-110 and with a heavier build to be the optimum everyday ski, especially for Whistler. In your case though, given you already have the Bents, I'd suggest adding a narrower damp ski for those icy days. Top choices for you would be the Blizzard Brahma 82, Armada Declivity 82 Ti, or Elan Wingman 82 Ti. Or slightly wider with the Wingman 86 Ti, Brahma 88, or Volkl Kendo 88

Okay for a bit of context:

I live in BC. Mainly riding the mountains in the lower mainland. Whistler, Cypress, etc.

I'm 5'9", 135lbs (yeah I'm a small dude, gimme a break).

Last winter season was my first real year back at it since my teenage years (where I was, like most Canadians in BC, going on one or two trips a year with fam and/or school). That being said, I did get a good amount of sessions in last season. Something like 15, so my skill advanced quite a bit. I'd say solid intermediate.

I was riding Rustler 9s in 164cm with a used oldish Head Vector 90 flex boot. Pretty affordable beginner set-up to ease into it.

I did quickly find my limit with these though I think. Whether it be the boot or the ski, I felt like I had a lag in quick turns/pivoting for moguls and trees, when it should be pretty easy with a setup like that. It felt heavy to pick up off the ground despite not actually being that heavy, if that makes sense. 

On-top of that, despite being the PNW I found I was skiing almost an equal amount on really hard pack, icy, and cruddy conditions last season. The rustlers did pretty well in crud, but I was miserable on hard pack and ice. Tons of skidding/side slipping. On-top of this, they definitely felt a little sketch with any sort of speed on hard pack.

The powder/soft snow days were great though and the rustlers did well.

Anyways, this year I got a much stiffer boot (Full Tilt FC 130), which I've read is on the softer side for a 130. The tongue is modular and can be swapped out for a 100 flex.

My ski this year is a Bent 100, 172cm length. I was looking for something playful that I could improve my ability to get air, play in trees, do side hits, and practice switch.

That being said, I've read they're *okay* for dampness and it makes me a little concerned for the days where ice and crud are factors - these days would likely be a little more groomer focused anyways since doing trees and jumps on icy days sounds like a good way to get wrecked.

Anyways, I'd love to hear some suggestions. Do I go for another mid size all mountain that's a bit heavier that can bust through crud and hold an edge well, or should I be aiming for something more narrow underfoot?

TLDR; have Bent 100s and am looking for something that might be a bit more damp and hold an edge well in icy/sketchy conditions.

Looking for a second pair for PNW Quiver

 You don't need a wider ski than this if you don't ski in fresh snow. Just goes to, you know, having the ski appropriate for the conditions you ski and a lot of skiers out there are in this, should be in this low to mid 80s range. This one is the 182, creates a 16.4 meter turn radius, so that is kind of on the shorter side, definitely likes to link those GS shaped turns together on groomed trails

2022 Armada Declivity 82 Ti - SkiEssentials com Ski Test

 Hey skiers, it's Bob with SkiEssentials.com.

 The ski returns unchanged from last year.

 That's great news for skiers who want to ski, spend most of their time on the front side

 but also have a little bit extra width and a more kind of playful shape for all mountain

 You know, normally we think of these low 80 millimeter skis as kind of more pegged to

 the groomers but this has, you know, that wider pedigree thanks to, you know, the other,

 So it does have some of that all mountain versatility as well.

 This one is built from a poplar and caruba wood core and contains Armada's articulated

 So these strips of metal that run vertically through the ski really help keep the stability

 at a maximum level, minimum vibrations with this thing.

 Very easy to make it hook up in the tip and then a very responsive tail.

 They're, you know, a little bit stiffer than you might think they are but really nice sound

 You know, very stable, very smooth all the way through, all the way through the turn.

 Full sidewall underfoot, that's a nod to the frontside aspect of the ski but when you kind

 of get into the tapered shape and overall composure, that's kind of where the freeride

 and more versatile aspects of the ski really start to come to life.

 So when we put them together, definitely see some good positive camber underfoot.

 That leads to the fantastic energy of this 82 TI and as the narrowest in the range, it's

 going to have the most on trail appropriate taper and rocker.

 So very minimal taper in this ski here and in fact not a whole lot of rocker either.

 But the, you know, the widest part of the shovel is right at the top so that's going

 to mean longer edge contact starting at the tip and going through the tail.

 We actually see kind of a little bit of a bump out at the very end here at the end of

 the edge and that gives you a lot of good energy propelling you into the next turn.

 But pretty minimal rocker profile here at the end, just enough to, you know, make the

 ski not hook or stay locked into the turn, still gives you a good amount of, you know,

 input as to how far you're going to hold that carve.

 And then that's the rocker profile in the shovel here as well.

 Pretty minimal for, you know, more of an all mountain free ride ski.

 It's more appropriate for that front side format.

 But overall just a really nice ski from Armada.

 You know, there's a lot of skiers that really want this type of all mountain ski, narrower

I am in the same position as you abs I was looking at all the same skis. I ended up pulling the trigger on the Armada Declivity 92ti. Could not be happier.

I am an intermediate skier with good prospective progress. 6 foot 4, 220 pounds (1.92m, 100kg), with good fitness, but technically also intermediate (😂).

I mostly ski any groomers, but could occasionally hit sparsely wooded off-piste powder out West. 

I have a 13 years old K2, 77mm underfoot that I barely used. I have been thinking about an 88 to 96 underfoot all mountain/freeride skis... Kendo 88, Mantra m6, Enforcer 94, Head Kore 93. Blizzard Rustler 9, Atomic Maverick 95...

I logically seem to think I should get something in the lower range I cited, an 88 like the kendo, but somehow I lean towards a wider one like the m6.

What do you guys recommend and why?

 They have great edge grip. They have a really, really good feel and a really kind of a nice blend of being powerful and stable and responsive and all the things that upper level skiers look for. But thanks to the Karuba Wood Core and thanks to that articulated titanal banding, you get a little bit more user friendliness out of it, a little bit more forgiveness without sacrificing too much of the powerful elements. So that's pretty much, in my opinion, the perfect application for this ski

 Today we're talking about the Armada Declivity 82 Ti. This is the narrowest of the new Declivity series. These skis are more focused on frontside firm snow performance than most of what we see from Armada, and the 82 being the narrowest is really the most firm snow focused out of all of Armada's skis these days.
