The S/Max Blast has been in Salomon's piste range since since the 18/19 season, but for winter 20/21 they've tweaked the Edge Amplifier. They've reduced a section of this grip-enhancing tech under the binding, directly under the centre of the foot, to improve the flex and as a result making the ski a little more agile.

The S/Max Blast has an ash woodcore with a layer of Titanal metal above and below, accompanied by a full sidewall and full camber for superb stability, power and grip on firm, groomed runs.

If you're an advanced or expert skier, you'll find this ski a total blast. Upper intermediates with good technique and power will be able to manage this ski too, although there are others in the S series of piste skis that may suit you better.

 So I've just been skiing the new Salomon S-Max Blast. There's been a bit of a

 change for this year with the edge amplifier. They've reduced it in the

 middle here which allows the ski to flex more freely under your foot. For me it

 still feels like an ultra high performance, high energy weapon. You know

 you get this ski on a piste for short turns it is truly a blast. I mean it's

 all power, all energy. It's one of those skis you get on it and even if you're

 just feeling not properly pumped up you will be after four or five turns on this

 ski. It's a really inspirational ski to use on the piste. It feels like race-like

 levels of grip and still quite easy to use at slower speeds. It's got a softer

 tip and tail but essentially high energy, inspirational, will really get your
