 So the weight of this jacket is 325 grams, which is really nice and light. It has an 850 fill down and that means that it's got really good fill power for very lightweight, so the warmth to weight ratio in this jacket is really good. The jacket actually does have a small amount of synthetic fill in it as well. They've used what they call composite down mapping in the jacket and what they've done is put synthetic material in areas that are more prone to moisture

 In terms of pockets on the jacket, it has two hand warmer pockets on the front here, and they're really nice and warm. They're also just raised above the level of what your hip belt would be on your pack so that you can still get access into those pockets even if you've got your pack on and you have belt done up, so that's really good. And then there's also another pocket just on the inside of the jacket here, and that's just basically for storing some items in there. It also holds the little stuff sack in there and that's normally just looped in to the inside of the pocket

 It actually goes right around your face, so when you zip it up, you've only got a little bit of your face showing and just really keeps the wind out. And the other thing about the jacket is on the back, there is actually a cord on the back which means that you can actually pull tension in and you really just can cinch up that that tension around your face so that you get a nice, a really nice snug fit. and it's really just your face that's actually sticking out so that just provides really good warmth. And I just love that feature about this jacket

Sawyer old vs revised?

Updated review: Initially I was very pleased with this jacket. Nice fit, low weight, and at home it felt very warm. Field test showed me otherwise. Two nights around 50° with some wind and wearing ALL my usual layers, this did not keep me warm

 Again, very light weight and packs small but did not keep me warm. I returned it. REI does not seem to be selling it anymore, curious about that.

Most interesting thing about this jacket to me is the new hood design and longer hem. Big improvement over the Cerium LT.

* Warm, has armpit perforation for breathability, extremely comfortable and versatile. I bought it for $20 and it is probably the single best item in my list.

I required a light weight jacket I could pack-down to nothing in a carry-on roller bag yet tackle winter nights in Shanghai (30-35 degrees).

From a functional standpoint, however, I simply cannot recommend this jacket. It is simply much to flimsy. So flimsy, in fact, that the Arato shell face fabric managed to form a tear while I was putting it away into the stow away pocket.

What are the downsides of the Patagonia Nano Puff Vest?  I'm doing some climb in with some kids coming up from. Mount Vernon in a bit I'm actually waiting for them now and excited to shoot this video and supposedly 80 degrees by the time lunch time comes around, so it's a good pass you wear this in the morning I set up the climbing equipment in the back that's wearing this in the woods and for the rest of the day when it gets warm, this thing stops right into the chest pocket there and I'm not wearing my climbing harness but if I was I would clip this to my climbing harness. So after my students leave and I'm braking on the climbing site and it's after dark. whatever

 I could just put this back on or whatever so it has a little Clippy thing if you clip it to your harness. I'm not wearing my climbing harness now but comes out real easy. Just like that it's super lightweight. Two things: Don't even wait more than a few ounces so it's really lightweight
