Arc'teryx Aerios FL GTX vs Astral TR1 Junction

The Aerios are ridiculously light, but they lose some long-term durability to achieve this weight. We put them to the test and hiked about 300 miles in them before they became too soft to be useful for trail hiking anymore. The outer of the shoe still looked surprisingly good, but the structure of the midsole and the heel cup had broken down enough that they were not as supportive as they once were. This still seems like a reasonable lifespan for such a niche hiking shoe, and we look forward to buying our next pair to test

5s), but the TR1s excel in a few ways over any previous shoes I have owned. Specifically, the grippiness of the sole is absolutely unmatched (hey, Astral-dont ever change this!). Also, the durability of the upper, midsole and outsole are outstanding (almost like a heavy hiking boot). I like it because it's waterproof but not warm, lightweight, minimal design, and good flat support (but this is telative to what you need).

Loved the light-weight. Liked the overall style. Unfortunately, between the lack of expansion room of the tongue and the narrower main foot area, the right 'length' of shoe was just too restrictive to be comfortable - especially if more sitting/lounging and not actively up and about. But any larger size would be slightly too long

I got these shoes in a US size 13 in Fall 2019 ahead of a few hikes in the 15-20km range, but I'm pretty disappointed — one issue is likely a unit defect, while the other is a sizing issue.

I sent back then looked to re- order I found it odd that the size 11 are $89 yet a size 11&1/2 is $120. No they weren’t on sale when I first ordered them. I understand it might take a little more material for a 1/2 a size bigger only $40 worth 🤔 can anyone explain. I’d appreciate it & be very Grateful
