Apple Watch Ultra Review: Worth It Or Nah?

 It is sporty, it looks industrial, I do love that flat top display, and the crown guard also looks industrial and it really minimized how much false Siri activations I got when I'm having my hands on the ground pushing against something. I don't really like the color of the action button, but it is very useful to have. I also really like how loud and clear the speakers are. They are really nice for calls, both for me to hear whoever I'm talking to, as well as for them to hear me with those microphones

 The same thing goes with the size. Now it's not too big for me and I got used to it, but for many other people it just is and some people have returned it because of that. And honestly, if Apple could just give us better battery life in a normal Apple watch which has a lower price point, that would be amazing even if they had to cut out some of the features to put in better battery life. Now I know they talked about adding a low power mode later, but so many things get shut off just take a look at this list including getting text until you actually press and turn on the watch to get it to connect

 Now I really wish that this watch looked a little less sporty like the leaks we had for it and that Apple gave it multiple color choices. Now sure keep the plain titanium because it's unpainted, it's the most durable, but if Apple gave us some options that would be really nice. The same thing goes with the size.  The weight of this watch is straight up QUALITY. This watch makes me feel like I’m ready to take down a tree with an axe… BARE FOOTED. What I didn’t know 😛

 I weigh about 145 lbs with a 6.5 inch wrist and have until now always worn the smaller of the Apple Watches on offer, most recently the Apple Watch Series 6 40mm with a S/M sport band. I am at the stage in my life where it’s getting harder to read text on a small screen, so this year I decided to upgrade to a larger Apple Watch. It didn’t make sense to me anymore to have a great watch capable of providing all kinds of useful information only to struggle with the smaller screen, especially as I am frequently in situations where it is much more convenient to rely on my watch than to get my phone out

 My watch came with the Alpine Loop in Starlight, Size M and for the first couple of hours I was sure I was going to return the watch. I really dislike the band - the weight of the watch is such that the band has to be quite tight on me, or the watch moves around too much for my comfort - but the material of the band, especially at the edges, just feels rough and scratchy and I found it much too irritating to my skin to wear the watch securely. I also don’t know how the Alpine Loop could ever be kept clean - the material doesn’t wipe easily and retains water. I want a comfortable band that can get wet and dry easily and that I can clean off with a wipe

 The Ultra FEELS much heavier on my wrist than the stainless steel (smaller) AWs. And it sits noticeably higher. It would be a problem to wear the Ultra with normal long sleeved shirt cuffs buttoned. Functionally the Ultra is arguably improved for some edge use cases -- satellite SOS, auto crashes, ocean treasure diving, a pocket siren (!) etc

Meh. A stainless steel AW8 is probably a better choice for most folks.

 Strap color (orange) is ridiculous and just pops. The screen is simply stunning. I love looking at it. Clarity + brightness

 I went hiking alone, the siren gave a bit of comfort. It seems durable. Not sure if I want a screen protector. Recommended

 I only walk and run in a treadmill and ride a bike outside. The GPS locks on quickly in my experience. The watch itself is so so nice. I'm happy enough with it that I don't plan to upgrade for at least a year

 Still, the watch should take a beating and has the sensors I need. The Amazfit GT and T Rex watches do, as well, but I'm enamored by the build quality of the Huawei. I plan to keep mine. Just make sure you're comfortable with very limited watch faces before you buy

 It does a great job of logging the right distance when I'm inside on a treadmill, too. The find my phone feature comes in handy. Love this thing.

Mixed feelings but overall it's a nice watch

I wanted a good workout watch to replace my flaky Garmin, and I read some great reviews of the GT2 pro. Most reviews spent time discussing all of the workout options, but I didn't really do enough research. It does have a ton of workout options, which the phone app displays well. But there is no way to upload to Strava, or to export data files for use with any third party apps or sites

So I've had my Huawei watch 2 for years now, I've accepted that it would never be connected to my old phone (OP5T) but I've just got a new Xiaomi phone and it's still not connecting! The notifications and everything else works, Huawei health app shows connected too. But the broken cloud is shown....

For what it's worth, whenever I reset my 1st gen Huawei Watch, I always give it a day or so to finish installing updates. After that it works a little better.

It would not connect to Google Assistant, I was not able to set reminders, create appointments or check on appointments. It was able to do any Google inquiry, what's the weather who did what and so on

In fact I spent more time installing and updating then I did with the actual watch. What a waste of time, instant return and a warning to anyone else who wants the watch

Own TicWatch Pro 2020 for all of 20min

 So why four stars? Well some things I knew about going in. You cant reply to texts, etc. Apparently you can only have 10 contacts on the watch (no access to all contacts on the phone), but I dont care much about that. I didnt buy this for phone calls

 Best battery performance in a smart watch. What’s good about this is your able to really use always on watch face displays. Watch comes with great selection of always on watch faces. Always on display will reduce battery life from 5 to 7 days, but that’s still great

**Conclusion**. I would say if you don’t need to export data and you don’t really need smartwatch advanced features like an app store or notification responses, and if the weight is not a problem, this is the watch to buy.

 Then it turns off, or goes to simple/ugly "always on screen", and stays there until you push a button or touch its screen. It does not go to normal screen mode if you just raise your wrist as all other normal watches do. Has few basic apps to monitor health and exercises, and thats it. cant install any other apps

 Everything else is not too good. Watch is really big, so if you dont have big wrists - it will look ugly on you. Phone app is very simple, with just basics in it. No watch face customization or downlodable ones if you are in US region
