The Apple AirPods Pro are the perfect companions for airports or crowded subways. They feature impressive active noise cancellation, a slim carrying/charging case, and a fit that is still comfortable after hours of wear. In crowded or loud situations, we found the noise cancellation to be effective enough to listen to music or podcasts at a reasonable volume without being distracted by the outside world. When stuck in a metal tube with dozens of disgruntled travelers, that is just about all you can ask for. The noise cancellation also ups the overall quality of the music reaching our ears, providing clear mids and treble with more bass than most people expect from Apple earbuds. The majority of our testers even found the silicon earpieces to be plenty secure for gym workouts. 
The apparent downside of these buds is the high price. Additionally, some of our testers noticed that the silicone tips started to slip towards the end of sweaty runs &#40;though none actually fell out&#41;. And perhaps most importantly, Android users will not be able to access all the unique features that those utilizing Apple products &#40;iOS devices&#41; will. Hence, we only recommend them for use with compatible Apple products. These buds are still unique in that they can follow you from the subway to the gym while offering good sound, excellent noise isolation, and reliable comfort. We think many people will find them well worth the hefty price tag. 

Since Apple released the original AirPods, many have been clamoring for a more sports-oriented iteration of the revolutionary buds. Those cries have largely been answered with the Apple AirPods Pro. If we had to choose one pair of earbuds for long plane rides, the Apple AirPods Pro would be our go-to. The silicon tips of these buds create a good enough seal to block out much of the ambient noise and provide all-day comfort. Add Apple's fairly effective active noise canceling technology on top of that, and you get a much more isolated auditory experience than most other buds offer. Though the noise cancellation isn't perfect, it allows you to enjoy music on planes, in gyms and subways, or when trying to get some work done while the kids are making noise, without cranking the volume up uncomfortably high. The pinch controls used to play/pause the music and skip tracks are some of the most intuitive and responsive that we've seen, which is great for when you don't want to take your phone out of your pocket or when summoning Siri would be awkward. Back this all up with a reasonably impressive soundscape that can flatter many genres of music, and you've got a great pair of buds. 
The major downside of the Apple AirPods Pro, as you might have been able to guess, is the cost &mdash; they are some of the priciest buds currently on the market. Additionally, if you don't use an iPhone, you lose some of the advanced features they offer, like a fit test and control customization. If you're an Apple user and are willing to pay a bit of a premium, these buds are some of the best on the market, particularly for traveling and city commuting. If you want on-ear headphones, you should consider the Apple AirPods Max. 

If your favorite workout location tends to be accompanied by a cacophony of noisy gym-goers, passing cars, or youth soccer practices, the Apple AirPods Pro can create a blissful cone of silence in which you can enjoy your music at a reasonable volume. The effective active noise cancellation can block out most ambient noise, providing you with a quieter and more pleasant listening environment. Upgrading to these buds, we went from blasting our music so loud to drown out the treadmill's noise our ears were left ringing to not even being able to notice the treadmill noise despite our music only being played at a moderate volume. Though certainly not the most stable of the buds we tested, the silicone earpieces allowed most testers to confidently run and do jumping jacks without fear of the AirPods Pro falling out. 
That noise cancellation technology does come at a price. The AirPods Pro sport an eye-popping price tag compared to other models tested here. Also, non-iOS users may be disappointed that specific settings and customization options are not available. But if you frequently find yourself cranking your music uncomfortably loud to drown out the din during your workout, the Apple AirPods Pro are worth the extra cost.

Additionally, if you don't use an iPhone, you lose some of the advanced features they offer, like a fit test and control customization. If you're an Apple user and are willing to pay a bit of a premium, these buds are some of the best on the market, particularly for traveling and city commuting. If you want on-ear headphones, you should consider the Apple AirPods Max.

Have you ever cranked the volume of your earbuds to uncomfortable levels to sufficiently drown out the din of a noisy gym, only to leave the gym with your ears ringing? Even when running on home treadmills, we've committed the same sin to block out the sound of the motor bouncing off the walls. This scenario is where the Apple AirPods Pro excel. Out of all the athletically inclined earbuds we tested, these offer the best active noise cancellation, allowing you to block out the noise of the gym or treadmill and listen to your music at a reasonable and safe volume. This noise cancellation is accompanied by great sound, intuitive controls, and a comfortable fit. 
The drawback is the noise cancellation technology comes at a high price &mdash; the AirPods Pro are some of the most expensive earbuds on the market. They are light enough and, given the three sizes of silicone earpieces included, fit securely enough that our testers didn't have any stability issues. Considering the cost, we would have appreciated the addition of ear fins for extra peace of mind. But if you often feel like you've just left a concert when you step off the treadmill, the Apple AirPods Pro can provide excellent sound while protecting your ears.

The Apple AirPods Pro are the perfect companions for airports or crowded subways. They feature impressive active noise cancellation, a slim carrying/charging case, and a fit that is still comfortable after hours of wear. In crowded or loud situations, we found the noise cancellation to be effective enough to listen to music or podcasts at a reasonable volume without being distracted by the outside world. When stuck in a metal tube with dozens of disgruntled travelers, that is just about all you can ask for. The noise cancellation also ups the overall quality of the music reaching our ears, providing clear mids and treble with more bass than most people expect from Apple earbuds. The majority of our testers even found the silicon earpieces to be plenty secure for gym workouts. 
The apparent downside of these buds is the high price. Additionally, some of our testers noticed that the silicone tips started to slip towards the end of sweaty runs &#40;though none actually fell out&#41;. And perhaps most importantly, Android users will not be able to access all the unique features that those utilizing Apple products &#40;iOS devices&#41; will. Hence, we only recommend them for use with compatible Apple products. These buds are still unique in that they can follow you from the subway to the gym while offering good sound, excellent noise isolation, and reliable comfort. We think many people will find them well worth the hefty price tag.

If your favorite workout location tends to be accompanied by a cacophony of noisy gym-goers, passing cars, or youth soccer practices, the Apple AirPods Pro can create a blissful cone of silence in which you can enjoy your music at a reasonable volume. The effective active noise cancellation can block out most ambient noise, providing you with a quieter and more pleasant listening environment. Upgrading to these buds, we went from blasting our music so loud to drown out the treadmill's noise our ears were left ringing to not even being able to notice the treadmill noise despite our music only playing at a moderate volume. Though certainly not the most stable of the buds we tested, the silicone earpieces allowed most testers to confidently run and do jumping jacks without fear of the AirPods Pro falling out. 
That noise cancellation technology does come at a price. The AirPods Pro sport an eye-popping price tag compared to other models tested here. Also, non-iOS users may be disappointed that specific settings and customization options are unavailable. But if you frequently find yourself cranking your music uncomfortably loud to drown out the din during your workout, the Apple AirPods Pro are worth the extra cost.

 You can still hear some loud noises, but those are muted significantly. As for Transparency mode, it amplifies outside noise so you can be aware of your surroundings while listening to music. This was quite helpful while I was walking on the street and did not want to be completely isolated from the outside world.  I used Airpods first gen for quite some time and I really enjoyed them. As they began to age, I started looking for a replacement. I was torn between getting Airpods 2nd gen, or spending a bit more and getting Airpods pro. After watching several reviewers saying the pros sound considerably better than Airpods gen 2, I was finally convinced to give these a shot, mainly because I've never used noise cancelling ear buds before and was curious to try them out

<div class="md">Tried the AirPods Max here at a store in Sydney. Here’s a quick very subjective review with the Bose NC700 as a comparison. 

Noise Cancellation:

The Max is maybe 25% better at noise cancellation. Genuinely quieter than the Bose. It feels it’s partially due to the headphones cupping your ears more strongly than the Bose. 

Sound: 
The Pro Max are noticeably spacier than the Bose. It’s like hearing a concert in an empty room. The Bose is like being right next to a high quality speaker. Which I suppose, in a literal sense, you are as you wear headphones. 

Despite the weight, which was noticeable, but mostly comforting and not overbearing, this means you notice wearing the Max less than with the Bose as there is a feeling of space when listening. 

The Bose has much more bass. 

Listening to New Slang the Max felt light and airy. Like being in a field. With the Bose it was nearly the same but lacked that airy quality. By contrast when listening to the instrumental of Still DRE (real version was blocked from store trial because its explicit) you notice the lack of bass, although it sounded great still. 

They both sounded great with River Flows In You but the Max was nicer as it has that spacey relaxing vibe. A more 3D sound for sure. 

Build:

The Bose’s felt cheap after handling and wearing the metal Max. But it is literally $200 cheaper. 

Wrap Up:

The Max sounds maybe 30% better than the Bose NC700 but costs about 50% more. Not worth it to upgrade as long as the Bose works, but probably worth it when these break. 

Verdict:

I didn’t buy them as my Bose work fine, but I will definitely buy the Max as the replacement when these break. The max sounds more 3D but they’re both high quality headphones. 

Didn’t get to test the surround audio feature with movies. 

The colors that are not white or black also look cheap, with the possible exception of the blue which was ok. 

Everything I said was subjective, happy to answer questions but these are just my opinions.
