 Now looking at just the current 1440p mid-range segment, so that's the 3060 Ti, the 3070 and the 6700 XT. In Borderlands 3, this new AMD GPU is about on par with the 3070, while costing $20 less. The 3060 Ti is only about 14% slower than the more expensive options here, while costing only $400. Well, if MSRP's meant anything, that is

 The 6700 XT remained cool and quiet, running a 10 minute Furmark stress test for each of these settings, except for the manual overclock where I left the fan ramp up as much as needed. Like I said, there's a 213 watt limit in Radiant Software, but overall I would say that AMD did a fantastic job with the cooler here. So to conclude, would I recommend the 6700 XT if you can find it at MSRP and I'll have the prices for a few regions on screen, I would say that yes, this is a beast of a GPU for gaming at 1440p. If real time raytracing is important to you for some reason, then the 3070 will be a better performer in the few games that support it, but honestly I would stay away from raytracing at least until a new generation, or two, have new GPUs come out

 AMD has done a fantastic job with this one. It's a huge improvement over the 5700 XT's pipe to the head blower design from RDNA1. It's a graphics card aimed primarily at 1440p, which is fast becoming the resolution of choice for most PC enthusiasts and as such features 12GB of VRAM, so 4GB more than the 3060 Ti and the 3070, although it is GDDR6 and not 6X as in the Nvidia counterparts. The card requires an 8 pin and a 6 pin connector for a total board power of 230 watts in this reference design, although in overclocking I found a soft limit of 213 watts in Radeon software

 The Radeon RX 6700 XT is AMD's answer to NVIDIA's popular RTX 3070, and it's launching today with an MSRP of $479, so that's $20 less than the 3070. But a whole $80 more than what the 5700 XT launched for just over a year and a half ago. Is the increase in price justified? If you own a 5700 XT, should you upgrade to the 6700 XT? Would definitely spend the extra ~$25 upgrading the cooler to a Hyper 212 or PH-TC12DX, the 11600KF would get quite hot otherwise. CyberPowerPC also offers some much better airflow cases for a few bucks more with the P418R (modified P360) and NR640 which come with 3x and 4x 120mm fans respectively. Also consider downgrading slightly to an RX 6700 XT if you wanna save yourself $90 for ~4% less performance but 50% more vram.

 For now, let's go back to our tests.. It'S not just Tomb Raider, that's kind of disappointing., The RMX 6700 XT is only as good as the RTX 3060 Ti

. So, let's start with that. The reference RX 6700 XT. That is what it is right reference

 Basically, if you don't have a well-maintained F5 key or a bot you're, probably not going to be able to buy one on launch day. As with Nvidia and the RTX 3060. I don't know why AMD has decided now is the best time to release a new GPU., But this is a review of the card itself

AMD has got to be kidding - Radeon 6700 XT Review

 Like, so let's say four to five hundred dollars, right? If that's the maximum you want to spend or if you're looking for just a good bargain, these under five hundred dollars ultimate win, the 3070 and the 6750 XT should essentially outperform this to some degree. The 3070 will do way better in ray tracing because of the second gen cores, et cetera. And that might be a better option. You know, obviously, if you want to spend closer to that six hundred dollar range, you'll get a little bit more horsepower out of the 6750 and the RTX 3070

 Actually, first one, is this still worth it one year later or is there maybe a better option out there to when should you buy this? If you don't currently have a GPU and you need a GPU, when would this be a good option or would it be a good option in general? And then three is if you already have a GPU and you're looking to upgrade, when would this be a good option to upgrade? As in I have this card, I should consider this. So we're going to answer all those questions today. Quick disclaimer, though, my benchmarks are done at low, medium and high default settings. No tweaks, no adjustments, no ultra hellfire, badass, no crazy settings, just high, medium and low

 And I do things a little bit different here compared to most. I try to do an average gamer's test bench, which essentially it's a mid tier build. So that way, if you have higher tier specs, you should see the same results or better. I'd rather give you a real world expectation and leave you meat on the bone than sell your hopes and dreams

RX 6700 XT BENCHMARKS - 1 year later! 2022 review

When it came time to overclock the card using AMD's Radeon WattMan utility(Opens in a new window), I achieved a small, but stable, boost of 150MHz on the boost clock and 275MHz on the memory clock. Much like our experience with the RX 6800 XT, this actually translated to some noticeable uplift in lightly threaded games like Rainbow Six: Siege, anywhere between 4% and 10% depending on the game and the resolution. (Note: Playing at 4K in OC mode wasn't as favorable as 1440p in Red Dead Redemption 2.)

 If you're not dead-set on buying on launch day, we'd look at early reviews and customer ratings to see if it's a widespread issue.

 Firstly, it's not supported on all platforms so, depending on your motherboard, the option may not be supported and at this point, amd is still only offering support on 500 series boards when using a 5000 series processor or a select 3000 series processor and the second reason being That, even if you have the required hardware, the feature is not actually enabled by default, meaning the user needs to enter the bios, find the resizable bar option and manually enable it. This isn't that different to what we do with say, xmp, but it's another step. A four percent discount just really isn't enough for me to part with features like dlss, especially given that i play games like fortnite that support dlss. Please don't judge me as for the six aib models that i have on hand

 So if the price is right, this will be another model to look out for, and that is going to do it for this review of amd's new radeon rx 6700 xt. What do you make of this new offering uh we'll be sure to read all of your comments, because yeah i'm very interested to see what you guys make of this thing, and i guess your comments and opinions will probably be shaped by what availability looks like, but Again, it's probably going to take a few weeks before we know exactly well we're going to know if this is any any better than what we we've seen so far and yeah. I don't have high hopes on that, but amd say significantly more supply and they seem very optimistic, but we know what happened last time amd was very optimistic about their supply for gpus anyway, it won't say any more we'll leave it at that

 I should also note just quickly that the infinity cache size has been reduced by 33 as well from 128 megabytes, with the 6800 to 96 megabytes for the 6700 xt amd claims that this optimized on die cash delivers up to two and a half times the bandwidth Of a 256 bit wide bus running at 12, gigabits per second gddr6 memory, and just lastly, when compared to the 6800, we're looking at just an 8 reduction in total board power, which makes sense, given the cores are clocked so much higher. So that's really a quick and rough look at the 6700 xt specs and how they compare to the next product and the stack, obviously with a 480 usmsrp. The 6700xt is targeting the rtx 3070 from nvidia and amd has claimed via their own benchmarks, that this new gpu is typically faster than the rtx 3070. Of course, using their own cherry-picked range of games and test conditions, they did throw in watch dogs legion to make their claim appear a bit more legitimate, but most of the tiles were sponsored by amd and are known to perform very well on their hardware

Also worth noting is the fact that amd tested with smart access memory enabled their branding for the pcie feature called resizable bar when testing across 35 games at 1440p. We here at harbour, unboxed found that sam boosted performance by three percent on average, though we did see gains of 10 or more and half a dozen of the titles tested

 Max out setting with dlss performance + rtx ultra = 110 to 120fps on single player mode. I cant hear any fan noise, the info menu shows a 'Smart HDR On or Off.

 And the best part is, EVGA aren't even the only company who attempted to raise the panel limits that high. ASUS did it as well, but the difference is that ASUS did it on the liquid-cooled card. The ROG RTX 3080 Ti Strix LC, and LC stands for liquid cooling if you have trouble keeping up. And from TechPower's findings, this graphics card seems to benefit way more from having that insanely high power limit, simply because it has the cooling to really make use of it all

 It is nice to have, there's other cards that also have this kind of high power limit, and they do the higher power limit way more justice because of the better cooling. And it's not even an EVGA fanboy thing as far as I can tell, because there's literally other cards in EVGA's lineup that also have this insanely high power limit. Those cards being the EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Hybrid, which is called in a similar hybrid manner to the Strix LC from ASUS, and also the EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Hydro, which is also a water-cooled card, but this one being intended for custom water loops. So are you sensing a pattern here? Yes, this feature is clearly more intended to be something for water-cooled cards

EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA has a DIRTY SECRET?!

368 voltage, and 32 gigabytes of G-Skill Royal Z PC 3200 memory for those timings, and then the EVGA RTX 3080, I got the power limit raised to 112%, which is as high as it goes, I raised the core clock additional 120 MHz, and the memory added an additional 800 MHz fan profile, is that auto, and then the fan overclock bios is on the normal settings, so I'm not using the overclock bios. So first I'm going to test 3DMark Time Spy, and then we'll see the scores, and then I'm going to test other games, such as, let's see, we got Cyberpunk 2077, Doom Eternal with ray tracing, Red Dead Redemption 2, What's Up Legion, and then I am running Windows 11, so it probably will, you know, maybe slightly affect the results, not sure if it's going to help or make them worse, and then I'm also going to test Flight Simulator 2020, and Forza Horizon 4. So stay tuned for those tests, and then the first thing I will show next is the 3DMark Time Spy, and then we'll show 3DMark Port Rail, so stay tuned, and there's the card, and we'll get it, the case closed up, so it's in a closed environment, and I'm going to run a test, so stay tuned for that video, and we'll take things from there. I know the overclock BIOS, it doesn't raise the power limit or anything, but it just ramps up the fans, so I want to keep the fans quiet, so I'm going to leave it on the normal BIOS.
