 literally everything. The OS on the Fire tablet is clunky in comparison. Even the virtual keyboard doesn't work as well for me.  Oh, and with the Alexa enabled on the Fire, when I use it in the same room as an Echo (which is everywhere in my house), they don't work together very well

**Amazon Fire HD Kids 8**. Tailor made, but my reservation is that the hardware is extremely slow. 1.5GB RAM is just atrocious

 So she bought me an Amazon Fire HD 8 2021 for Christmas in the hopes that it would fix the issues I was having with my 2017 model. That brings me to the real point of this review. Having used this tablet for almost a year now I can say again that this is an excellent tablet for the price. I only have a few complaints that I was hoping Amazon had fixed since the 2017 model

 3) The battery life is about the same as my 2017 which was also very disappointing. On a full charge I can usually get about 4-5 hours of solid use before it's almost dead (that was brand new), about 8-10 hours of intermittent use, and if left on but inactive (on standby) you can get up to 3 days on a full charge before it dies. However I will also say that those numbers have not decreased much, if any, over the past 8 months of use. So at least the battery life seems to be fairly consistent

 So it definitely served its purpose. Last year my wife was tired of me always complaining about how slow it had gotten and how limited it was on being able to keep up with newer apps. So she bought me an Amazon Fire HD 8 2021 for Christmas in the hopes that it would fix the issues I was having with my 2017 model. That brings me to the real point of this review

Overall an excellent product for the price!

 It has lots of features for use as a tablet beyond just reading that allow it to compete with Samsung Tab and iPad. DOWNs: The battery does not seem to last as long in the new version. This may help make it lighter, but for moderate use, you will need to charge daily (before, my wife plugged in the old one every few days). Ad-supported price

 It's more than 200 pixels per inch at 1280 by 720, and it looks damn impressive. Anyway, now it's wi-fi only, and this one happens to be eight gigabytes and that's a bad combo if you're one of those people who's away from wi-fi all the time and wants to save stuff for offline use, which is why I'm thinking go with the 16 gigabyte or there may be something along the lines of a Nexus 10, perhaps with a cellular radio somewhere in the near future. So in the end, is the Nexus 7 a good product? Is it worth the 200 for this eight gig version? Here, Google spends about 200 to make it and then sells it for about 200, but they're trusting that you will spend enough time in the Google Play store on this device to start giving Google more money and make it worth itself. They even give you a 25 credit to the Google Play store

 The fact that this an OFFICIAL Google Android supported device means that there are less headaches with software/firmware compatibility, not saying there aren't any. This device performs beyond my expectations, which is why I got one for myself - only 32gb. Both my girlfriends and my Nexus 7s are refurbished 2012s. They both looked spotless and had perfect screens, and still do

She's been running a Nexus 7 (2013) for a while but the battery in it has kind of gone to crap. She wants the tablet to do like web browsing, solitaire, facebook/instagram/pintrest, read ebooks, etc while chilling on the couch instead of using her phone. I have no idea how the ChromeOS experience is on a tablet though.
