I play with one other person very often and this is the best co-op game I have played yet. It requires serious teamwork and is also complex enough where one player cannot rule over the entire game. In other co-op games I've played, there's generally an optimal strategy that all the players must start following, so it's ends up less of each player contributing and more "this is the optimal strategy, do it". This is not the case in Aeon's End

Clank is an outstanding deck builder where you are trying to plunder something. Cards let you move, attack, or buy more cards (among other things).

What prompted this thread was our recent experience with Aeon's End War Eternal. We've had a very complicated relation with this game. We played the introductory scenario a couple of years back, disliked how easy it was, and we haven't played the game for a while. We got back to it a couple of months later, enjoyed the first proper game a lot more, but afterwards we forgot again about it

At it's heart this game is a slow-turning point salad engine. And by that I mean you are going to place workers to get resources, use the resources to to get movement, use the movement to get resources and points, use the resources to research (and get points), use the resources to buy cards (and get points), use the cards to get resources and points..

I researched this one and thought that it looked the most fun - and that creature on the cover looks bomb and like something I needed to vanquish! It takes a lot of prep. I thought I could sit down and dive right in, but the rulebook was lengthy and complicated. Having played a deck building game before I wasn't expecting it to be as complicated but once I got into I loved it! It reminded me a lot of playing D&D but with more guidance and rules. You can pick from 8 different characters which is cool bringing a lot of variety

My friends and I finally figured out the rules, but there is some stuff you need to really think about and guess I’m. The rule book not clear enough to play without much research. Wish they would cover on more specific situations. Love the game, so much fun but very tough to get started

Cooperative deckbuilding is my new favorite genre, so I was thrilled to find this gem, the best-designed one I've found yet. It even has some unique game mechanics that set it above other games, such as a random-ish turn order that scales with number of players (the villain has 2 out of every 6 turns, but the turn order cards determine when!). Plus, the Dominion-style card market (stacks of cards randomly selected at the start of game) is my favorite deckbuilding style, so it's great to see it in a co-op game.

I feel they could have done much more here and overall, it's a very safe and familiar design mechanically and thematically. So while it's a solid game...

This is hands down my favorite gateway and I can't see myself removing this from my collection.

3 out of the 5 are just awesome looking. Plastic custom pieces. Then the other 2 of them were cardboard. What the heck?? So I went to Etsy and found someone who 3D printed both of them for about $13
