This is a high quality product, lightweight and compact, but unfortunately doesn't work with my windows. I had to figure out a way to work around (hooking it on to a bed in one room, and a crib in the other room).

I really like this ladder

A house burned in our neighborhood, and while I've been pretty good about making sure I have all of the extinguishers, alarms, etc., I hadn't picked up a ladder for escaping from our 2nd floor bedroom if the worst case happened. I looked at several options, and this one seems to be the best on the market.  I like the standoffs that keep the rungs away from the wall - that makes sense as far as utility

We've been searching for a good second-story escape ladder since January 2013, when my wife's brother was killed in a house fire. We are pleased with the X-IT: it is well constructed, compact and easy to store near the designated escape window, easy to deploy and, we believe, it would allow for our successful escape in the event of a fire or other emergency. Being a firefighter, I know the importance of having an escape plan in case of a fire. First and foremost, make sure you have working smoke alarms so that you can wake up and actually use this escape ladder. Overall, it is light-weight and easy to deploy. You can practice with it and it's not difficult to fold back up

 This is one of those items you hope to never have to use; however, you can't use it to save your life if you don't have it.
