Big, directional, tapered shape, rockered nose, super surfy and fun and pow, but a nice freeride flex makes it a ton of fun on variable conditions. What we did for this year is we completely re-engineered the board for creating a Carbon Backwoods

 Alex Schauerman here with Westin Snowboards. I'm excited to tell you guys about our new

 19-20 lineup. Our big, big, big board for the year is our Carbon Backwoods. So it's

 taking our flagship Backwoods board. Big, directional, tapered shape, rockered nose,

 super surfy and fun and pow, but a nice freeride flex makes it a ton of fun on

 variable conditions. What we did for this year is we completely re-engineered the

 board for creating a Carbon Backwoods. So the goal is to create a carbon board

 with guts. What we did was we dropped 1.3 pounds of weight from a 157 split and we

 did that with a Polonia wood core and carbon top sheet, but then we also wanted

 to make a board that was super durable, could drop the 30-40 foot cliffs and

 take a beating like our riders like to give our boards. So we did reinforced core

 in front of and behind the rear bindings where we tend to see are the high stress

 areas and then we also put aluminum stringers creating a damp ride and

 adding a little bit more of a durability factor. So we're really excited. It's $10.99

 so we're keeping it at a price that's that's approachable for a high-end carbon

 board. I'm pumped to see this thing out in the backcountry in the skin dry.

 The Carbon model is about just under 20% lighter than the regular model, which allows you to save that energy on those long approaches and for those steep ascents. The best description of the Backwoods in general is a freeride board hidden behind a powder shape. The nice wide nose gives the board more lift and float in the deeper snow, and the shorter tail gives the board more power and maneuverability. The camber profile of this board has early rise in the tip and the tail, and it features camber underfoot to lock in those hard carves

 One of the things I like most about the Backwoods carbon is that weight is always an issue in the backcountry, and this board and model has allowed us to really push the boundaries of what's been possible for all ultra-light splits.

 All this tech results in an ultra light split board that comes in at 2780 grams in a 157. Even with this weight difference, this board rides very closely to the regular Backwoods in terms of flex in the nose, middle, and tail. It's not as stiff as a door. The overall flex of this board we rate at a 7 out of 10

 This is our lightest weight core and allows us to improve pop and dampening. Sandwiching the core, we utilize the Triax Carbon Fire Layup instead of fiberglass. All this tech results in an ultra light split board that comes in at 2780 grams in a 157. Even with this weight difference, this board rides very closely to the regular Backwoods in terms of flex in the nose, middle, and tail

 We use a polyamide top sheet sustainably sourced from castor bean oil.

 This particular top sheet is a slightly different top sheet than the one we use on our regular

 Backwoods, which is slightly thinner for more weight savings, at the same time not sacrificing

 Our polyurethane sidewall improves dampening and minimizes waste in the manufacturing process.

 This board features a raised grade base utilizing an Electra 5920 graphite infused sintered

 This base is faster than our sintered 4000 base.

 This base may require slightly more maintenance and waxing, but it'll get you going faster

 As with all our bases, we do keep it a minimalist black for easy repair.

 This board utilize minimalist phantom herc clips for the center lash and phantom clips

 This board also features our off-centered touring bracket, which keeps the nose up when

 you're breaking trail and for kick turns.
